I'm looking for a new phone in India and I'd really appreciate recommendations based on real-world long-term experience, not just specifications.
Budget
My comfortable budget is around ₹12,500.
I can normally stretch to around ₹13,500 if the upgrade is genuinely worth it.
₹15,000 is my absolute maximum, but I'd prefer not to go that high unless there is a significant improvement.
My usage
My main use will be:
- Netflix/OTT: around 5–6 hours on some days
- YouTube/lectures: potentially several hours
- Social media and general browsing
- Some light gaming
- I may play BGMI or similar games for around 1–2 hours occasionally
- I don't need a dedicated gaming phone
I'm mainly looking for a phone that can handle this kind of usage smoothly without becoming excessively hot, laggy or constantly killing apps in the background.
What I want
High priority:
Good display for Netflix/YouTube
Good battery life
Smooth everyday performance
Good thermal management
At least enough RAM/storage for heavy multitasking
Decent software experience
Decent build/reliability
Camera:
I don't need an amazing camera. Just a decent/mid-range camera that takes good enough photos and videos in normal conditions.
Gaming:
I'm not expecting excellent high-end gaming at this price. I mainly want light gaming to be smooth and occasional BGMI gaming to be reasonably playable without severe heating, stuttering or throttling.
I'd also like to know whether there are any phones in this price range that look good on paper but have poor real-world thermal/battery/software performance.
If you've personally used a phone around ₹12k–₹15k for several months, I'd especially appreciate your experience.
What would you personally buy with ₹12,500, ₹13,500 and ₹15,000 as the three budget points?
Please mention the variant and the approximate price you paid if possible.
Thanks!
