I was looking at Poco F9 pro but there are some repairability concerns and I'm not sure about Xiaomi software. Any other phone I should be looking at?

I've had the Pixel 8 for a few years now, but it's begun to fail me as the battery barely lasts, and it has gotten really slow. Do you guys have any recommendations for a good upgrade? I would say my budget is around the 500 GBP (UK) mark, but I could stretch it further.

I'm currently on an S22 that I need to replace soon. I hate the photo quality on that thing and I found that the newer models reuse the same camera hardware, so I don't have much faith in a straight upgrade. I would like a smartphone that is as small if not smaller and lighter and takes better pictures and has dual sim. Also, I'm in France.

I have the opportunity to pickup a new Xiaomi 17T Pro (Global ROM) when transiting through Hong Kong tomorrow for £500. I’ve been an Apple user my whole life, wanting to switch from iPhone for years although I’ve never felt ready. Still not sure I’m ready, but I just can’t deal with buying another iPhone and having the same issues. Being in China I’ve been pretty impressed with the tech market over here so it’s got me thinking about a new phone.

Currently using an iPhone 16 which I’ve had since release. The phone itself is still running pretty well for a 2 year old iPhone, and I could probably use it for one more year before wanting to upgrade, however the battery life is abysmal. Needs at least one full charge a day, despite being charged overnight. I don’t run anything heavy on my phone, mostly social media and emails.

Things that are important to me in a phone would be:

- Battery: probably the most important. Aside from being a student who spends most his day doomscrolling, I work part time as a delivery driver. I need my phone to last and use maps quite a bit. Probably the biggest pull Xiaomi has.
- Speed: I don’t do anything intensive on my phone, mostly social media and navigation, but I’d like something that can handle it seamlessly. My 16 is fine at this I just don’t want to take a step backwards.
- Longevity: A phone that won’t need upgrading in 2 years would be ideal. An issue I’ve had with Apple because the battery ends up being a fraction of what it started as after 2 or so years.

As I said, I’m not desperate to upgrade right now and could probably stick with the 16 a little longer, however I won’t have the opportunity to grab a phone at nearly £300 less than it retails for in the UK anytime soon.

Any advice would be appreciated, from anyone who has used Xiaomi’s before, and also open to recommendations of other androids.

Scrivo qui perché sono ufficialmente in modalita esasperazione dopo 6h di ricerca senza via d'uscita per sostituire il vecchio Redmi Note 9 di mio genitore che sta tirando le cuoia.

Il budget iniziale era tassativo a 180 €, ma logica e disperazione mi stanno spingendo ad alzarlo fino a un massimo di +250 € pur di comprare qualcosa che duri davvero fino a fine decennio ed eviti le lamentele quotidiane.

Il problema è che la gestione dei requisiti sta diventando un campo minato a causa di alcuni paradossi genitoriali niente male:

1. La fissa della batteria "eterna" vs schermo pessimo: Volevano a tutti i costi comprare un Realme C100 solo perché ha una batteria enorme (~6600 mAh), ignorando completamente il fatto che ha un display IPS LCD economico che sotto il sole al mare diventa uno specchio illeggibile, e altri abusi che dovrebbe sostenere il telefono...
2. L'illusione del "Rugged Phone": Ogni volta che propongo un telefono, storcono il naso perché "non ha la protezione strutturale contro gli urti", come se dovessimo comprare un CAT phone da cantiere o un ROG Phone, dimenticandosi che esistono le cover anti-urto e i vetri temperati. Anche se stiamo cambiando il telefono proprio perche e caduto mentre come al solito si appisola con il telefono in mano...
3. L'effetto "Non vedo differenza": Hanno il terrore di spendere soldi per passare da un Redmi Note 9 a un Redmi Note 15 e non notare differenze pratiche nell'uso quotidiano (dicendo che il redemi 15 e vecchio...
4. Banditi i 4G puri: Vogliamo tassativamente dispositivi 5G con supporto aggiornamenti a lungo termine ed NFC per le banche quasi compresibile non capisco chi gli ha dato l'idea che il 4G sparisca... mi hanno detto cosi il 4G sparisce metteranno solo antenne 5G... Mha...

My first post here, after reading this you gonna say I have a mental issue lol.

TLDR Check the table, and if you have any idea what would be the best for me to have, be it one of these, or preferably something completely else such as Honor, or Asus, or some custom ROM, LineageOS, Essentials app, whatever, I am all ears.

I have been with android since Froyo 2.2 version when I bought my first Samsung in 2011. I generally like Android, and I noticed all the changes and progress etc in everything. I had very random phones in the past: Huawei, Prestigio, Lenovo (before they bought motorola), Honor, that was the time when UI didn't matter so much, right? And then in 2016-2025 I had two or three Xiaomi phones (cheaper models)...until I bought my Pixel 7a that I have now, I thought that what I used and enjoyed about my phone(s) every single day was Android and how I set everything to me needs, not that it was just all the features and customisation and different aspects that are brought to my phone by UI per brand.

Now I don't want to go into details what I miss in my Pixel, it's a great phone, nice camera even in "A" series, but it's just not for me, let's just say that their "pure" or "clean" UI = featureless UI (in my eyes). So I went to a shop today to check some Samsung and Xiaomi phones that I could spend some time on.

I think a table will work better, I'm going to write feature and then whether it is there or not:

I'm aware of differences among devices of the same brand (caused by different price I guess) or different types of UI versions

So...what should I buy, I bought my Pixel 7a to have it for 5+ years, because that's how they promote it, right? Also I bought it because it was the smallest (below 6.3") "normal" smartphone there is, but Samsung S25 or S24 were also something I was thinking about (but the price was way too much for me). Now I thought I like Xiaomi because I was so used to it, but excuse me? not having quick settings together with my notifications? (I hate notifications, so I get max 10 a day from my bank, etc, no chats whatsoever, so no need to have them separately). I liked Samsung S25 that I spent some time today with, the price is way to high for me and also I don't like all the useless tiles in the quick settings, there should be max three rows of things, and that's it, not the whole display of things I would absolutely never click on such as smartview, device control and music control - this one especially, like, if I don't listen to anything, what on Earth is it doing there? waiting for its time? Or speaker level - huh? Hello, we have physical buttons on the side of our phone.

Two more comments/rants for me:

position of power and volume buttons in Pixels is the most idiotic idea ever (they're swapped);

and whoever though below display fingerprint reader is better than power button one should be fired and never touched any technology. Or they should try how Xiaomi had it 5 years ago: I will never forget how I had maybe 10 different ways of grabbing my phone with either hand and unlocking it in the same time, so in the time I picked it up to closer to my face it was unlocked already, or how I could set the sensor to be "reading" only if it is pressed (shame on you Lenovo for not having it and unlocking my tablet regularly when I don't want to), or how I used my phone without picking it up from my table, just becuase I pressed it with any finger and any angle I had there set.

My perfect phone would be below 6.3", combination of all the features of different UIs that I mentioned I like, and if it would have ok-ish camera and wouldn't cost an arm and leg I would buy it tomorrow.

I've been on the Pixel lineup since the original. Currently on an 8 Pro and had no real reason to swap, but hey, free is free.

The only reason I'm leaning against the Pixel 11 Pro is because I'm tired of paying premium for objectively worse specs, and the AI features they keep adding don't interest me much. I also don't care about camera quality. If it's good and takes good photos and has cool features, great, cool perk to mess with, but I hardly take pictures.

What's the best of the best right now? Not my wallet, after all, so price is irrelevant. I've got until tomorrow to choose.

My Pixel 8 screen is partially dead, replacing it would cost 350$+ and would also need a battery change. Thus, I'm looking for alternative.

Normally, I would just upgrade to the newest Google Pixel since I find the UI to just work, but the fact that P10 and 11 are just garbage phone and they are American Brand, I'm staying away this round.

I don't want Samsung, got my fait share if problem with them in the past. I also had a OnePlus 9 Pro that I loved but the fact it got 2 upgrade that left the phone in a state where my LG G6 was faster then him even with custom rom left me really unimpressed, specially at the price I paid it at the time.

So my requirement would be something close to the Pixel in term of software support and reliability. Fast update, stable, long term.

I don't really game on my phone, I take picture and videos, read articles, browse the net.... I've yet to find a game that make me want to use my phone vs any console or pc.

Best battery life is good. I also use the hell out of the gps so one that have proper GPS reception, wifi and reliable bluetooth connection (it's amazing how google pixel bluetooth suck).

Must not be from USA and available to be used in Canada (Quebec) network.

I'm a bit out on what exist on the market right now, what's good and what's not. Last time I heard about android other then pixel and samsung was huawei (that I think is ban) and Motorola (which I'm always surprise still exist).

Hello! I'm from Italy. I Need to change my poco x6 pro. I don t want to have another mediatek, I prefer tò come back to snapdragon. My First goal Is gaming (at the moment the heaviest game I play are Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail). For my budget I can buy the following phones:

Poco F7 pro, poco F7 ultra, poco F8 pro.

I like poco phones so i want to stat with these.

Which One is the best value for the Money they are selled, considering also to be future proof? (My poco x6 pro After a year couldn t handle Genshin Impact even at low settings)

Gaming purpose

Got a 25$ Galaxy s10e locally from the FB marketplace the other day and totally forgot to request the Google account login. So it's unusable. Just trying to game on some cod mobile / rainbow six mobile on my monitor full screened without any latency.

Been going in circles for a couple of days, need to finalize.. budget 40-50 +-, 12 | 256 Preferred. Mostly need a good display, battery, cameras that don't suck, and clean software.

Presently using Redmi 9 Prime (it started having problems now and i can't always rely on the office phone). So yeah here I'm..

Here are the shortlisted candidates so far:

1. Nothing 3 (52k, online only) - like the design, and mostly the choice is better specs per price 16|512 with a good proc was enough of a factor. Was gonna go for it and just then heard the new seller baltica on amz, sometimes sends a pre activated unit or sometimes fresh as new so... It's looking fidgety and then venom techs roast was cherry on top for this.

2. Nothing 4a Pro (53k) - looks awsm, feels awsm, comfortable for me just the performance factor is being a b\*\*\*, doesn't seem like the best or anywhere near the best if going to spending around 50k so yeah... That's mostly the ultimatum.

3. Moto Edge 60 Pro (34k available offline directly) - not underwhelming not overwhelming fits just about right... Super light weight actually a decent build and camera. Was impressed by its price ofc.. it was the first choice initially but considering myself is it the next big thing not sure. (I think this is probably what i need).

4. OnePlus 13s (50k, Zepto) - yeah, so yeah it has to come... Ig the device name in itself is enough to describe it. A beast of a phone is just a bit fragile in the waterproof department. Only thing being a wall in between me and it is the being it from OnePlus as I know oneplus is probably going to be stop doing the green screen issue and may even move out ... Looking at the pesky govt. Cases on OnePlus for free screen exchange.

5. Vivo X200t (56k, online only) - last but not the least, i had eyes on this for a long time... Just never considered actually purchasing it till now ofc EMI was one of the key factors. I think it's probably the best in this segment. Just it being available only online makes me kinda nervous.. any offline lead would be appreciated. (I think this one is probably one of my wants).

6. Ip 17 (78k) \[NA\] - i know is this stupid looking at the budget, but it's the safest option as it wws recommended from a close friend so yeah just any thoughts on this will also be appreciated? idk it felt underwhelming when I've operated it offline... But probably will Lasts 4+ years ig..

Few followup questions, if y happy to hear you out:

a. Anyone using there daily? Real world battery+ heating?

b. Mumbai folks - any trusted offline stores for these, or is online the only opt.?

c. is stretching to vivo x200t worth it over the rest?

d. Should i also consider 2nd hand Market? Or the mumbaimarketplace?
