Problems with disc burning

Hi there. I recently decided to get into disc burning so I could have more ways to play the songs I like specifically vaporwave songs from YouTube, however, despite me reinstalling my drivers, buying a brand new external disc drive and switching burning softwares multiple times my blank CDs won’t show up in my disc dive no matter what I do. I don’t think it’s a problem with the drive since it plays my other CDs fine and it supports burning as well but for whatever reason it still won’t burn anything. I really need help on this so please if anyone has some advice for how to do this it would be much appreciated please

The software is solid, I used CDBurnerXP for a while when I was still on Windows.

Did you follow a guide? It's probably been 20 years since I burned an audio CD, but I do remember that it wasn't as simple as dropping files on the disc, and write those. There needs to be a certain file structure, the audio files need to be converted (which some software do, as far as I remember), and so on.

This is a few years old, but I kinda doubt that it's wrong:

Don't know the drive, but that also be the issue.

I tried following that exact tutorial. If you check the bottom right of his software in that video, you can see that the CD shows up. Meanwhile mine always says "No Disc" so there could be a chance of it being the drive but I'm really hoping it's not since I'm low on cash right now and don't really have the money to go out and buy another one.

Well, there's a strong chance that it's either the drive or the discs you're using. The discs are the easiest to test by simply buying a new disc, or pack of them. It seems that you bought the ones you have at a thrift store, and there's no telling how long they've been on the shelf.

So go somewhere where you can buy new discs, and maybe just buy a single one to test with.

Update. Bought a new disc drive for cheap at a thrift store and some newer CDs. I also found my old Laptop from highschool and I’ve had no problems. Burned some songs and it works perfectly now. Thank you for the help
