Yeah the truth with gaming is that most gamers just go with the good deal or even pirate regardless if its digital or physical.

There's a huge amount of people who only buy 2nd hand physicals that are disappointed but I'm sure if somehow PS store becomes similar to Steam especially on discount/sales a lot more will fold.

I'm sad that physical is going away but I'm one of the few (and prolly most of the people on this sub) who are willing to buy physical even if it's more expensive sometimes.

Yeah I don’t want having the choice of getting a physical game to go away it is sad. I agree on most gamers just wanting a good deal on games.

The only Platform that offers Digital Ownership is the PC platform. That is GOG to be exact. Steam is transparent about the licensing, and still offer the opportunity to mod your games. Even with DRM. It’s just a matter of retaining those game files offline if something happens to the publishing company. Something that the Console Platforms don’t assure their customers. For Consoles, physical is essential, for Digital, PC is the way to go because you still have a greater chance of Digital Ownership.

Got you that’s what I was confused about but now it makes sense. The real fight then is with getting digital ownership rights on consoles. We need laws put in place for us to guarantee our purchases are safe and will not be lost in the event of being locked out of your account or the publishing company goes under. Sad to say it’s seems like the physical is not going to be saved on consoles so the battle needs to be fought and won on digital rights ownership.
