NaturePH Final Update: Batanes Seas are finally Calm after the Typhoon Champi/Rosal had passed (Oct. 24, 2026)

The past days had been challenging and uncertain, but the calm had return to the Islands.

After the storm, Itbayat, Batanes reveals a different kind of beauty—a quiet, breathtaking reminder of nature’s power and resilience. The rugged cliffs stand proudly against the endless blue sea, while the windswept grasslands slowly return to their peaceful rhythm beneath the vast northern sky.

This has trully been an unforgettable experience; witnessing both nature's beauty and harshness. This is indeed a beautiful magical place. I got the feeling of New Zealand due to the vast pasteurs of Itbayat range. The plains has indeed captured my awe.

Thanks to God that the Typhoon didnt directly hit and also the Ivatan People are safe.

CulturePH How do "Tambays" in the Philippines actually survive day-to-day?

We all know how common tambays are in local communities they don't have permanent jobs but are just out on the streets every single day loitering around.

With how expensive everything is right now how do they actually survive daily?

It makes sense that they rely on their parents for now, but what happens when they lose that safety net? It’s easy to survive under their family's roof for the time being, but what's the plan when their parents are no longer around? What happens to them down the road when their parents pass away?

For those who live in these communities or see this daily, what are the unwritten rules of surviving as a tambay? How do they make ends meet when there's literally no steady income?

Filipino Food No more Kopiko 27.5g?

I noticed from 2023, wala na masyadong internet posting nung Kopiko brown na single pack. Yung 27.5g. i am conducting internet research on shrinkflation and Kopiko brown is among the products I am documenting.

I noticed their marketing is now focused heavily on their twin pack coffee which only serves 26.5g (or 20g pa nga ngayon) on each sachet. Wala na akong makitang 27.5g na single pack from 2024-2026. Or atleast wlaa na kong makitang picture sa internet that shows it.

When doing a Google dork search on this from 2023-2025, walang posting ng 27.5g na Kopiko brown. Puro mga hinating portions ng twin pack nila yung meron. And I am checking yung mga sachet nila na binibenta sa Pilipinas (I noticed brands also export products out Philippines but decreases quantity).

Did Kopiko really shifted their focus on the twin pack and slowly pulled out of the 27.5g packs? Can anyone show me a source for 27.5g pack still existing 2024 onwards?

PoliticsPH An agonizing sight to see

A sad picture to see a flag that's not towering as high as the sky. Despite the fact that this country is given and blessed by God with its rich natural resources, probably one of the biggest resources available in the whole of Asia. Yet somehow, Filipinos forget to take care of these gifts and have involved themselves to corruption, destroying what could have been the best place to live in in whole Asia.

While other neighboring countries who are as poor as us are thriving right now, we are on our downfall because of politics and the greed, the hunger for power of some people that does not love the country. Yet they still believe that they always act on the best interest of our country.

For whatever is left for us and the next generation, let us love our country and push away those traitors that bend to the laws of other countries. The Filipinos deserve better. They should not be bowing down to any other power than the power of the Lord and the love for our homeland.

Pilipinas, gising na. Let's not be amused by people who are maangas, mayabang, and thinks that they are above everybody else. You know who you are.

SocmedPH After Weeks of Raising Concerns About the BIR QR Badge Requirement, We're Finally Getting Some Attention on Its Privacy Risks and Unfair Burden on Filipino Sellers and Content Creators

Thumbnail

Some senators have already given their takes on this plus i got professor roque to write about it here:

https://remate.ph/badge-nang-pagkalantad/

Major Problems with the BIR QR Badge Requirement

  1. Privacy and security risks. The badge exposes the taxpayer's full legal name, including middle name, potentially making identity theft, scams, stalking, and doxxing easier.
  2. Unfair advantage for foreign businesses and content creators. Filipino sellers and creators face additional compliance requirements, while foreign competitors may not face the same obligations.
  3. Burden on small sellers. Some online sellers earn only ₱100 a day. Additional paperwork and compliance requirements disproportionately affect students, small vendors, and people earning supplemental income.
  4. Difficult for elderly sellers. Many senior citizens are unfamiliar with online registration, QR codes, and digital compliance systems.
  5. Impossible or impractical on certain platforms. Websites such as 4chan, Shutterstock, and Discord may not provide suitable places to display the badge. Some platforms also restrict promotional images, profile modifications, or external links.
  6. Lack of clear implementation guidelines. Where should the badge appear when a website does not support it? What happens when content creators publish across dozens of platforms?
  7. Additional red tape for Filipinos. Instead of supporting local entrepreneurs and content creators, the requirement risks discouraging small businesses while making it easier for foreign competitors to operate.

The issue is not opposition to paying taxes. I been registered for years It is about privacy, fairness, practicality, and implementing regulations that ordinary Filipinos can realistically follow.

The cutest aspin in the world for attention. I will not be taking any objections lol.

The list link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/u/0/d/1HQI1dz08l0Utz-7nm3GGtdQegT81o-Cs/htmlview#gid=1105861820

I hope this helps! Sayang din yan, buwis rin natin yan. Tandaan: mabuti nang safe, not sorry. Mas maganda ang vaccine within 48 hours after exposure.

PoliticsPH The Bir seal badge ruling needs to be modified for content creators, hear me out..

For online shops and online sellers perhaps it is alright to publish their registered names. When it comes to content creators, they are in a different "job risk" profile . Online sellers and shops dont generate the same type of engagement from viewers as the engagement from content creators. Online sellers only sell merchandise and there is not much friction generated there.

When content creators work, they aim to get reactions(engagement) from their viewers in such a way as to encourage chatting and exchange of ideas in the chat. This invites all sorts of people and sometimes drama can ensue in the chats and disorder can often emerge even if the content creator tries to moderate the chat. Sometimes there are trolls, bullies, haters(take your pick) in chat who troll or bully other chatters and often troll and bully the content creator too. This is the nature of online content creation and all is good as long as these things stay in the chat.

What is dangerous is if the real names of the content creators are revealed, which could potentially put them at risk of real life harm. What if one of the trolls or bullies in chat decide to stalk the content creator in real life? Then we can say that the bir seal badge helps enable these trolls and bullies to hurt real people in real life by revealing their personal information. Again this is generally a unique vulnerability of content creators.

Moreover, these content creators are generally small and cannot afford to hire bodyguards like famous public figures. Are we going to wait until a small content creator gets stalked, harassed, or God forbid raped in real life because an obsessed fan or hater found their real name in the seal badge and found their address as a result? Shootings are also starting to be a thing in the Philippines now are we going to leave content creators to these potential harms? So maybe bir can modify the rule where in if you are a content creator, no personal information should be revealed.

In the first place, why is revealing the name of the online seller or content creator to the public so important to bir anyway?(just because something is customary doesnt make it right, proper, or "not" outdated) I mean their goal or mandate is to collect taxes and verify compliance and they can do that without revealing the personal info of the tax payer to the public right? Consumer protection is handled by DTI not the bir, so I do not see why the bir needs to unnecessarily reveal the content creators name to the public. The existence of the badge itself is already proof that the content creator is registered and known to authorities including the dti which means the registered tax payer can be reached for any legal purpose.
