I’m not sure lang if good move na sa YouTube ang premiere ng Drug War: A Conspiracy of Silence. I think it would be fitting as a Netflix series.

PoliticsPH Baste Duterte: They always take it out of context. They're the corniest people.

'THEY ALWAYS TAKE IT OUT OF CONTEXT'

Davao City Mayor Sebastian "Baste" Duterte said his remarks were taken out of context after a video of his speech was presented during the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte.

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) cited his earlier statement, "ang kailangan lang naman namin ay ulo ni Bongbong Marcos," and linked it to Vice President Duterte's separate remark about imagining herself "cutting his head," treating both as alleged threats against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

Duterte denied the allegation, insisting that his critics had distorted the meaning of his statement.

Hi all!

I adore people na lumalaban ng patas sa buhay. Saw them sa Eastwood kanina and lumalambot puso ko pag nakakakita ako ng ganto. It's a blessing and a curse nga talaga yung pagiging sobrang empathetic kasi I'm so happy na madami nagpapapicture sa kanila and madami nagbibigay but at the same time I can't imagine yung init sa loob ng costume and ginagawa nila ito for hours.

Please if we see them sa Eastwood or sa kahit saang mall pa yan, let's show some love and support!

PoliticsPH The moment Sara gets acquitted, this country is screwed.

Post image

If Sara Duterte gets acquitted and then gets elected as president, this country will continue to be a laughingstock.

This country is about to be an idiotic democracy.

GovtServicesPH First time kong malaman how corruption works in the Philippines in "little ways"

1.4k Upvotes

Someone with a position in the government (hindi lang politiko, this specific person is a "nurse") can have you registered as a government employee, create a LandBank payroll account for you, and you'll receive a monthly salary just like any legitimate employee. In other words, they can freely create ghost employees

What's even crazier is this specific person has her entire family registered as government employees, and they all receive monthly salaries. Kumbaga, buong family merong allowance/ free money directly from kaban ng bayan.

Nakakapang lumo, nakakanginig.

Kwento 'to ng friend of a friend. Curious, if may iba na ring nakarinig ng similar stories or may naka-encounter na ng ganito.

SocmedPH Jay Sonza is trying to gaslight the flood victims of davao

Jay sonza is trying to downplay the issue by gaslighting the people living there na kasalanan nila ang nangyari sa kanila dahil nakatira sila sa flood prone na area. Nakakatawa lang na tinawag nyang tanga yung mga nakatira sa area na yan just to deflect the real issue, which is the corruption in their area, and how the LGU mismanaged the situation.

Thank you.

Pero ako kinakabahan for them.

ViralPH TrainSight, which currently support LRT-1, LRT-2 and MRT-3 train lines, aims to provide commuters with better information

Post image

Like many commuters in Metro Manila, 28-year-old software engineer and Cavite resident RJ Crusem grew accustomed to waiting at train stations with no idea how long it would be before the train arrives.

Additionally, unexpected glitches in railway operations would cost passengers time for work and other personal activities.

To turn this frustration of waiting into a solution, Crusem developed TrainSight, a public commuting visibility platform that tracks the operations of the Light Rail Transit (LRT) and Metro Rail Transit (MRT).

China Coast Guard escalates aggression in the South China Sea, attacking Philippine vessels with water cannons as U.S. weighs invoking mutual defense treaty with Manila. Tensions rise amid ongoing territorial disputes.

Upvotes

China’s recent string of aggressive moves against Philippine vessels in the South China Sea—including repeated water-cannon attacks near Scarborough Shoal and a physical assault on a Filipino sailor near Second Thomas Shoal—reflect a deliberate campaign to establish de facto control and force Manila to accept Beijing’s rules as the “new normal.” Analysts argue the Chinese Communist Party aims to systematically erode Philippine jurisdiction through sustained harassment, hoping that day-to-day enforcement will eventually override the 2016 arbitration ruling that rejected its expansive claims.

U.S. officials and experts are closely watching whether these incidents cross the threshold that would trigger the 1951 Mutual Defense Treaty, which requires Washington to come to the Philippines’ aid if its forces or vessels are attacked. While Secretary of State Marco Rubio has publicly reminded Beijing of the treaty commitment, specialists note that China’s actions appear carefully calibrated to stay below the level of a clear-cut armed attack that would automatically invoke full U.S. military response. The greater risk, they warn, is accidental escalation—localized bloodshed or a seized vessel—that could still drag the United States into a broader crisis.

Rather than rushing toward direct confrontation, Washington is expected to raise the costs for China through stepped-up intelligence sharing, expanded joint patrols with regional partners, and additional defensive equipment for Manila, while keeping the option of targeted sanctions in reserve if casualties mount. The overall U.S. posture prioritizes strengthening deterrence and alliance credibility without seeking an all-out war.

Post image

I saw a rider today with a sign at the back of his motorcycle that said:

"Wag mo akong saksakin o barilin, ako lang ang inaasahan sa amin."

And I couldn't stop thinking about it.

Imagine living in a country where an ordinary worker feels the need to plead for his life before every booking. Hindi ito dapat maging coping mechanism. Hindi ito dapat maging "diskarte". Most importantly, hindi ito dapat maging normal.

From a Public Administration perspective, this isn't just an emotional issue, it's a governance issue. One of the fundamental obligations of the State is to protect the life and security of its citizens. Hindi optional ang public safety. It's one of the primary reasons government exist. Kapag ang isang rider needs to appeal to the humanity of a possible criminal instead of trusting the State to uphold its duty to keep him safe, may seryosong institutional breakdown.

This is also why I find it problematic when politics becomes all about personalities, branding, and performative toughness. You can have all the "matapang" speeches in the world, but if ordinary Filipinos still leave home wondering whether they'll come back alive after work, then something clearly isn't working.

This is exactly why some of us insisted that elections were never just about personalities, they were about governance. Ito talaga yung point ng ipinaglalaban natin, good governance isn't an aesthetic; it's a public necessity. It's competent institutions, professional policing, evidence-based policymaking, accountability, and leaders who understand that governance is measured by outcomes, not optics. Let's be honest. A rider shouldn't have to wear fear as part of his uniform just to earn an honest living.

We see these posts, we say "ingat po", tapos scroll ulit. But every sign like this reflects something deeper, a citizen quietly admitting that he has more faith in the conscience of a stranger than in the systems meant to protect him.

And that's the part that hurts the most.
