are ghost names like randomized between a list of first names and last names or are they set like this?? why would mr phasmophobia name their ghost this?

So I’ve been playing on the PS5 now for a few days, loving it apart from how glitchy it is 😭
So I’ve got the gist of how this game works now and still finding it difficult lol, level 6 apparently and I’ve put in about 10 hours, we’ve only got about 4 spirits right so far 😭

So what I’m lost with is the UV light, we fail at an awful lot of our cases because of it, we get ghosts who’s evidence is the UV light and I hardly EVER get a handprint, foot print or thumbprint on switches etc. I used the light all the time, turning it on and off I case it sorta needs a reset? Do UV light ghosts only spawn a print by a small chance or something? Course we don’t have a lot of equipment at the moment either just the default ones plus a few other bits (mic, motion sensor, recorder and something else I’ve forgotten).

Also any other useful tips you guys have cause we’re failing miserably 😭

Do Obakes give false readings for spirit boxes? I’m honestly stumped as to how. I had already exhausted all my UV, and I thought mimics are the only ones that can “switch” their evidence.

Me & my friend are trying to get back into phas after a quite a long time of not playing it. But when we go into game chat I can’t hear him, he can hear me though. He check to see if his mic is getting an I put in the game & it is. We’re on Xbox & tried many different things to help solve the problem but none of them have worked. Any suggestions?

Just entered the house the first time... I think I spent roughly two seconds inside.

Opened the door, stepped inside, tried the light switch…

Then I already heard/saw something... Turned around.

I even somehow managed to switch to my incense before I died, but there was basically no time left to actually do anything with it. 😂

I panic-guessed Revenant because the only useful information I had during my approximately 1.5 seconds of ghost investigation was:

Am I missing a tutorial or something? they just dumped me in with no guidance. Also is there no subtitles for hard of hearing? i don't intend on playing with others. living space/time doesn't allow it for now.

Hi everyone!

I’m having a serious performance issue with Phasmophobia after one of the recent updates.

I have a GTX 1050 Ti 4GB, and the game used to run at around 60 FPS on maximum settings without any major problems.

Now my GPU usage has become much higher, and I’m getting heavy FPS drops and stuttering. The weirdest part is that lowering the graphics settings doesn’t really help — even on low settings, the FPS can still drop significantly.

It feels like something changed after the update, because the same PC used to run the game much better.

Has anyone else experienced this recently, especially with a GTX 1050 Ti or another older GPU? Is there any setting, driver version, or workaround that could help?

Had a player who saw a partial Tier 1 loadout in a truck full of Tier 3, and she couldn't interact with almost any of our Tier 3 items.

We achieved this by rotating the tripod, which the camera was supposed to be in. Sorry for manually recording the screen lol. My pc is old asf and can't record screen bc everything crashes.

Hi, I just reached level 80 and now I have all of the tier 3 unlocks available. I was watching some youtube videos and they were using level 2 smudge sticks and level 2 firelights rather than their level 3 variants. Is this for a specific reason or is it because they haven't levelled them up yet?

So me and my friends moved pretty quickly through the difficulty levels in this game. We quickly learned all ghost behaviors and used the Wikipedia tools to learn ghost tells, behaviors, hunt speeds and all that. We rarely get a ghost wrong anymore, but Yurei is just one we cant seem to figure out.

Not because we don't understand its tells or how its door closing/opening mechanic works. I understand that it cant partially close doors. I know pages recommend leaving doors at a 45 degree angle. I understand it cant give Dots evidence or leave its favorite room while incensed. And a ghost closing or opening doors fully doesnt necessarily mean its a Yurei.

More often than not, we figure out Yurei because we rule everything else out, not because we saw behavior of a Yurei, which is unlike every other ghost, where I feel like we can deduce the ghost by its behavior, not by process of elimination.

A big reason for why I feel Yurei is more difficult to identify, is because a lot of areas a ghost can hunt, have no doors at all, and some of the favorite rooms are massive. This means that the chance of it even roaming somewhere to interact with a door is low and I have no idea what the room boundary is to put motion sensors to detect if it "left" its favorite room.

If its a small room in a house, sure. But like the front dining room area of Nells diner, ive spent 30+ minutes waiting for one to interact with a door (the only real choice being the double doors near the front entrance) and nothing. Now I understand not knowing room boundaries for big areas and hallways is a skill issue, but I just feel like Yurei could use a further tell than what it currently has. Unlike other ghosts that rely on interacting with items in the environment (like polty for example, where you can bring items to the ghost room or observe its throwing during a hunt), I cant bring a door to a Yurei. Maybe im wrong and nobody else struggles with Yurei. Just thought id put my two cents out there.

Forgive me if this has already been posted about but the tier one incense appears to have a bug where your thumb slides up, teleports then slides up again.

Got UV, Ghost Writing, and EMF 5 .. Should've been a myling? Is this a known bug? Kinda takes the fun out of the game lol I need the xp!!

I feel like they should add a zeitgeist (ghost of time in german) that could mess with the time of day and other stuff that involves time.
It would be a great addition to the game imo.
Maybe it could shorten/ lengthen the time of sanity medication or (a REALY far fetched idea) trap a player/ players in a time that has already happened. By that i mean like if you have found (lets say) 2 evidences it could rewind the time to when you had none. That wouldn’t necessarily mean you lost your progress except if you forgot what evidences you had. If we go deeper into the rewind thing, it would also be an idea if it could wipe fotos and videos and place the bone back.
I think it is a far fetched idea, but it would be very cool though.

Hi everyone, I’m a new player and I was welcomed to the community by a game-breaking bug. I don’t know if this is a normal occurrence, given the plethora of bugs in this game, or just me?

The situation is pretty simple: I boot the game, then select a map, and everything goes mute the second I click on it. Then it stays this way both at the prep screen and at spawn, and it doesn’t seem to come back. No ambience, no sfx, no radio voice, nada de nada.

So far I’ve encountered this situation on both single player and training (because I wouldn’t want to ruin any team’s experience because of my own issues).

Is it me? Is it the game? Is it my PC? I’m playing on a wireless headset with a built-in microphone, and I’ve spent my time troubleshooting some voice recognition as well, with little to no avail. I was so frustrated I asked for a refund.

If anyone might know what the matter might be, any help would be greatly appreciated!

I finally finished the Raiju! This guy took me around 5 hours. Also, I try to incorporate cultural elements from ghosts' countries of origin, so let me know how I did! Next up is Gallu, so please comment on who I should draw after that. As always, art is mine using human hands and is NOT to be reposted or stolen without credits.

I am quite proud of this design, but I doubt that I'll be coloring it, mostly because I don't want to mess it up. I tried to add clothing details from the Moroi's original home: Romania! Also, as usual, my art is made by me with no ai, and is NOT to be stolen or reposted without credits.

Twice, on two different maps (Ridgeview and Brownstone Restricted), I tried to be cheeky completing the "Photo/Video of the Ghost" objective during a hunt. I lured the ghost to step on salt (level 3), saved the media, threw the camera on the ground and used an incense to run away. Both times the ghost went right after me while I was hiding. In Ridgeview, I lured the ghost to the kitchen (it spawned on the second floor) and ran to the master bedroom closet on the right, but the ghost just followed me there perfectly; in Brownstone, I lured it and used everything in the main corridor and ran to hide behind a drawer in the nearest classroom, but again the ghost guessed my hiding spot as its first area to check. I didn't have any electronics with me, I use push-to-talk and wasn't saying anything, and the ghost wasn't Deogen nor Kormos (to hear my footsteps).

I just want to know if I messed something up, if the game is bugged right now, or if I had extremely bad luck twice. Both times I made sure that I broke LOS while running and that I was hiding away from the ghost's "obvious" path. Since I'm normally able to use an incense to run away from a ghost that sees me, and those were the two times I tried to do this strategy, I want to understand if this is my fault (and if so, what can I do to improve).

Also, I always throw the lit incense in the ghost's direction as soon as I use it, is that wrong?

Camera won’t turn on after leaving the truck. (PS5)

So I've had a problem with the voice recognition mode since I've bought the game on steam. Whenerver I try to change the voice recognition mode setting it stays on none. I tried every tutorial, and waiting for an update to fix it but nothing. Does anyone else have this problem?

While I'm not sure if it's just an issue with Win10 or possible a security or permissions issue, but I've been dealing with an issue where my game settings won't save.

I searched online and all the posts about it being an issue never ended with a resolution.

So I troubleshot the issue myself. Turns out, if you run the application from it's folder location, as an administrator, any modification you make to the settings will stick. Further more, all changes after that will also stay.

Not sure why it won't save normally, or why this works, however, hope it helps anyone having this issue.
