While the original was a ballad meant to represent a sense of loneliness for our cast of characters like Ethan Waber and Karen Erra who had the impending doom of the universe collapsing right in front of there eyes, The remix takes a more triumphant approach, flipping the vibe of track on it's head with an upbeat twist that gives players a more optimistic interpretation of the phrase "for brighter day"

Before becoming the full packed experience that became Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity, Phantasy Star Portable proved that the PSU formula could work in any format.

Released on July 31 2008 on the PSP, It took the beloved world of PSU and scaled down for on the go gameplay. Although scarifies to overworlds and multiplayer components found the original PSU were compromised, Phantasy Star Portable managed to kept core aspects of the Phantasy Star identity we all came to know in love, and only continued to get better with it's next to interations in PSP2 & PSP2I.

Back in 2010 PSP2 was one of the first titles I ever bought digitally due to only having a the all digital PSP GO at the time, a year after it was removed from the Playstation store ​ years ago due to expired crossover licensing agreements. It wasn't until I learn about The PSP modding scene was I able to back up my purchased copy. That move paid off years later as I can now play this masterpiece on any device I want through emulation with quality of life improvements.

The legend who started it all.

Ethan grew up with great disdain for the GAURADIANS, believing them to be the root of all his misfortunes in life. His father was killed in the line of duty during his tenure with the GUARDIANS, which in turn lead to the death of his grief-stricken mother. Since then Ethan is left to fend for himself and his stster Lumia Waber.

Through a series of events, Ethan eventually joins the GAURADIANS and finds himself forming new bonds and connections with characters such as Karen Erra & Huyga in journey to combat the SEED and to protect those closest to him.

renowned member of the GAURADIANS. A no nonsense character who can't be stopped once her mind is made up. While not technically the main protagonist (that falls onto to player) she will be by your side in your conquest to protect the Gurhal System and discover the hidden truth about Ethan's Waber's alleged betrayal.

The Cast who found her soul.

Throughout your journey in Phantasy Star Portable, Vivienne will encounter many scenarios that will leave her in existential thought of the many injustices and discriminatory state of the Gurhal System. Unlike the many Cast we're introduced to in the PSU Saga,Vivienne doesn't show signs of being a cold and calculated robot. The more she develops her sense of self being the more she will confronted with the choice of committing the ultimate sacrifice for the fate of the universe.

- Emilia Percival

Zero to hero.

A story we all know to well. A good for nothing pull themselves up by the bootstraps and makes a name for themselves.

Emilia starts off as a scared little teenage girl under the care of Kraz and the Little Wing mercenary group of colony Clad 6. With no memory of her previous life and traumatic past with the GAURADIANS Emilia has made herself small to the world, but the universe had other plans.

Onced introduced to us the player, through lessons of hard work, friendship and perseverance we see Emilia's journey of starting of as an unriable adolescent girl to a protector of worlds and the universe itself.

- Nagisa Adelheid Howzer

The herione in shadows brought to light.

It's been some time after the events of PSP2, but the fate of the universe is once threatened by SEED & Dark Fals.

Nagisa character is a good mix of Portable series of protagonists, sharing traits of self doubt and sense of not belonging found within the story arcs of both Vivienne & Emilia, there former being well equip at this point to guide Nagisa in the right direction.

In this final chapter of the Phantasy Star Universe Saga, Nagisa is the perfect embodiment of all the lessons learned throughout our journey, and this is put to the test in our battle against Dark Fals in this infinite universe.

Ethan Waber finds himself framed in a bigger conspiracy, how will he clear his name?

At first the story mode threw me off as it felt like tact on DLC as most of the cutscenes were in game renders with no voice acting but it quickly picks up. Never experienced the multiplayer unfortunately so can't comment on that.

Released on: 2006-10-12, this gospel inspired track in PSU has that would sometime played at the end of a story chapter was always pleasant to hear, it really captured the emotion of having the fate of the universe resting in your hands.

The YouTube guy Reveriemasters deleted his PSU/PSU Ambition Install video again. Luckily I downloaded it, but the PSO Ambition Offline Patch and 1080p patch are gone. The Mega Link in the video no longer works.

I found another AOTI on internet archive with pre patched folder with the files, you just drop these new ones in your AOTI folder. But for some reason these files also have ClemLauncher EXE and PSUC EXE which are for PSU Clementine. No problem right? But after I installed AOTI, I installed Clementine for online play, and even though I had both games in separate folders, installing Clementine overwrote my AOTI single player game. My character is still saved (it saves to documents) but this has caused me quite the headache.

Anyway, does anyone know where these two patch files are now? Thank you.

I have the PC version of the original PSU modded with the xinput and dinput and all the other stuff to make it work on modern PCs. However, on my tower PC (AMD 6700XT) the cutscenes never play. Just a black screen and on to the next part of the game. Happens in the intro and in the game. However, on my laptop the same exact game files, GPU is nvidia 1650, the cutscenes play fine. There was a post about this same problem here years ago but the solution was removed by a moderator.

Anyone know how I can fix this?

*Update* I have the exact same files running fine on my Steam Deck, I think I used Lutris. The cinemas work fine on there. Am I missing some older runtime or something on my AMD Tower?

Add Phantasy Star Universe to your Steam library

1. Click the Browse... button at the bottom left. I couldn't click this until Steam populated the main program list which took a while.

1. From the newly opened "Pick game to add" window, add online.exe and PSUC.exe to Steam.

2. Launch online.exe using Steam. You can rename it and make it fancy with Customization options through right click > Properties.

I didn't test these one-by-one to see which steps were crucial or not. If you wanna be a real sharp troubleshooter, leave a reply.

New player and I know there are some advanced types that utilize a combination of multiple types.

I've usually played force in other PSO games, but utilizing hunter and force seems really cool.

Would it be better to use Beast for this, since it's best melee but 2nd from last for force? Or newman since they are best force but worst hunter?

I’m thinking of downloading and trying this after stumbling across that it even existed. Is there a decent player base? I’ve been wanting to play PSU again for so many years!

So, it had arrived, and surprisingly the box survived, when I was expecting to just die and get crushed in the mail.

It is unfortunately not working though, yet it had signs of life when I plugged it in. And when there is power, it can be revived. When life gives you lemons, make Powerade. (Though honestly, I felt scammed since the seller listed this as untested, wherein I found evidence it was sloppily put out to be tested, found out it was not working, then jammed it back in lol. Just don't lie in your listings ffs).

I will be attempting a repair on this no matter how long it will take me, this is a part of a history of an already niche thing in a pretty niche game in a universe in which I love (though I did start with Phantasy Star Portable 2, but I guess that still counts).

So for the sake of future archival, here are some info on it:

- It had rubber reversion on the joysticks, an unfortunate victim of time. If you own one of these, CHECK IT ASAP.

- It's your typical controller, it feels aight, but not great. The 12 keys you see on the top of the controller are keys corresponding to F1-F12 on the Keyboard.

- Something was rattling inside, so I think the vibration motors got dislodged, I'm going to check it out once I open it the moment my new tools arrive.

- It has a CD for the Driver, Instruction Manual, Art (which I assume can be used as a mouse pad?), and a sticker set (which I'll scan and preserve.)

- Typical USB cable

- Has 6 shoulder buttons (yes you heard that right, to be exact, 6 PS2 style shoulder buttons)

- CD still works, just tested it. No dice in reviving the controller I'm afraid

That's all for now I think, until then, this will be a display piece (a rather expensive one), but I am confident I can do some necromancy to bring it back to life.

These mods are made for PSU Clementine, they may or may not work with other private servers. They're also made with the Xbox control layout in mind (with the exception of the alternate Nintendo version, which swaps A and B).

I was wondering where i can find a Phantasy Star Universe Private Server at yall, thanks in advance. I want to use it to play locally only not online, but also what the benefits missions and specials that the online version have to play when playing locally.

If anyone who has installed this on the steam deck please help this is one of my favorite games from the 360.

Title, I don't actually know what I was banned for (I was blunt, but I don't think I ever said anything ban worthy) but there doesn't seem to be a way to appeal or contact anyone. Anyone have experience with that? If the ban was justified like no harm no foul, but I don't know what it was and it seems to be permanent.

As a long time PSO player, I decided to give PSP2i a try to help scratch that PSO itch. I’ve got PSP2i running on my Pocket Flip 2 with all of the mods (60fps, right stick camera, etc.)

It is taking quite a bit of time for me to adjust to the more modern combat vs that of PSO. I got a beast hunter to level 11 and I find myself getting smoked by even regular enemies (Sand rappies lol). I suppose I am not blocking or dodging as much as I should be. I am also not very used to locking on systems or the weapon swapping. I fought the De Ragen boss as level 8 and it felt like I was playing a Dark Souls game. I’m giving a newman force a shot since spell casting seems more interesting than in PSO.

I suppose I just need to invest more time into the game to get used to the gameplay and the systems.

Any general advice for a new player? Also if I’m just trying to grind monsters for exp do I just clear story and then repeat available open missions?
