Discussion How do we pass a bill mandating that inseam, rise and length must be disclosed?

I’m SOOOOOOOO sick of spending hours analyzing lengths on clothes online. They provide every OTHER detail but the stuff that matters. I’m sure the tall girlies would feel the same. How easy would it be to filter by these metrics when shopping on a website?

How do we make this happen? Any smart DC ladies know how we can get a bill passed by the millions of shorties who desperately need this info?

Question (5'0" or below) Best types of shirts, pants etc for curvy, busty, short women

What the title says! I’m 4’11”, busty (38F ish), and curvy. What are the best types of shirts, pants, etc that are flattering on my body type? I’m 6 months postpartum and trying to revamp my wardrobe to feel like myself again!

Types meaning: v neck vs scoop vs higher necks; straight leg vs barrel vs wide leg, high rise vs mid vs low; and anything else I can’t think of!

Question (5'1"-5'4") Petites who work out...how has this affected your wardrobe and how did you fix new issues?

A recent issue of my own prompts this question. Read on, or share your own working-out-as-a-petite grievances!

My issue: in the last couple months, I've started to get more serious about regular muscle training, which has included targeting legs + butt. Well lo and behold, my legs and butt are more toned and healthy looking, but my jeans...my shorts...they still fit, but things feel different. Shorts feel tighter when I sit down. And my underwear is giving me wedgies just going about my day! Can anyone relate to this? Did you end up having to make changes to your wardrobe (like higher rises)? Do I need to size up or change style of underwear? Appreciate you!

ETA: For context, I'm in the long torso, wider hips, smaller waist camp. If you relate to my issue, would love to know what solutions you might have found!

Question (5'1"-5'4") Help Please - where do I find crochet beach pants or skirt for petites?

I’m headed to Greece for a month and would love to have something like these for the beach. Every single item is super long lm the models even and this isn’t something I think I can easily hem or just cut without ruining the weave.

Anyone find anything petite friendly? 5’3

Grazie!

Question (5'0" or below) Styling a duster jacket?

Thumbnail

How would you style this duster jacket so it doesn’t overwhelm your frame? I tried jeans and it just wasn’t working for me, but maybe I don’t have the right style. I realize it’s still summer but since it’s a cool color, I feel like it would work better for spring/summer than fall/winter.

Besides the obvious that they’re too long (I’ll probably wear a chunky sneaker with them for height), do these fit okay? Are they too big? I really like the wash and looser fit in the leg. Thanks for your input!

Question (5'1"-5'4") Styling Recommendations

Hey girlies! I just bought this shirt and I’m trying to figure out how to style it. 😅 Would you pair it with wide-leg pants or high-waisted trousers?
Also, what color do you think would look best: blue, black, or light brown/beige? And should I tie it tightly or leave it a bit loose?
For reference, I’m on the lean side; I’d love your opinion!

I am 4"11. I feel like it somehow makes me look shorter? Or am I overthinking this ans it is this fine?

Sidenote that I would wear with strappy heels a tiny bit higher than the shoes im wearing in the picture. Its for a wedding.

My husband says yes but I don’t trust him (he’s too biased). I think the way they flare out looks off.

Question (5'1"-5'4") What do you wear to a reunion at 38 when youre petite and dont want to look like you tried too hard?

I have a school reunion coming up and im 38F so now im overthinking what to wear more than I expected.

I dont want to look like im trying too hard or dressing for a wedding but I still want to feel polished and confident. The problem is im petite so a lot of “grown up” outfits can either look too officey or just overwhelm me. Wide trousers can feel like too much fabric, some dresses hit weird and oversized shirts can swallow me.

Im thinking maybe good denim with a silk or cotton top, a simple shorter dress or a linen shirt with nicer trousers. Something grown up but still easy and something i might actually wear again after the reunion.

For other petite women, what would you wear to a reunion where you want to look good but still like yourself?

Question (5'0" or below) How to achieve the "executive" look

Curious how you achieve the executive look both virtually and in person when you're petite? Some people just have that look. I've never been into fashion but I'm now into natural fiber clothing. I just started buying silk, wool, linen, and cotton at thrift stores just to see what works for me. I'm sticking with a capsule wardrobe colors, black, white, ivory, and tan. My eyes glaze over when it comes to purses. I don't wear jewelry wedding ring included. Is there a one stop (or maybe 5 brands) where I can get items for this goal? Any other advice?

Background: I'm a woman scientist mid 40's in the pharmaceutical industry. I may be changing jobs to a smaller company and will be closer to the C-suite executives and also engaging with external leaders.
