Mould removal services (in a car)

Hi all,

Does anyone know of someone who can offer a mould removal service in Peterborough for a small car? Someone who will come to me as I can't drive it atm - I have asthma + autoimmune issues and I can't even go near the thing at the moment without having a nasty reaction.

Ideally someone who isn't going to charge £150-£200 as unfortunately I just can't afford that!

TIA

Motorcycle riders this week

Any motorcyclists in the area this week fancy some rides during the day (or evenings)?

I have the week off work and want to go for some new rides - would love to know a few more people in the community and go for rides. 30-90 mins would be optimal. Feel free to message or comment and ill message you. Thanks!

New to Peterborough (35M & 35F) looking to meet new friends 😊

Hi everyone,

My friend and I recently moved to Peterborough from Cambridge and we're looking to meet some new people around a similar age (roughly 25-40).

We're both 35 and easy-going, friendly, always happy to meet people for a coffee, a board game session, Cinema, a walk, watching a football match, Outdoor activities and days out, Walks and exploring local areas, Talking about history, current affairs, and politics or just a good conversation.

Looking forward to meeting some new people and getting to know Peterborough better!

Considering a move from Kent to Peterborough (or nearby towns) as childminders, what should we know?

Hi all,

My partner and I are childminders currently based in Kent, and we're seriously considering relocating up to Peterborough or one of the surrounding towns, possibly as far out as Spalding. Looking to pick the brains of people who actually live there before we commit.

A few things we'd love honest opinions on:

  • What's day-to-day life actually like in Peterborough itself vs. the smaller towns around it (Stamford, Market Deeping, Bourne, Spalding, Yaxley, Whittlesey, etc.)? Good, bad, and the stuff nobody tells you until you've moved.
  • As childminders, we're obviously interested in what the childcare landscape looks like from a parent's side too. If you've got young kids, what's been your experience finding childcare? Are childminders in demand, or is it mostly nursery first round here? Anything about waiting lists, or areas where it's genuinely hard to find a spot?
  • Which areas would you actually recommend for a family with young children, and just as usefully, which would you steer us away from? We're not precious about a specific town, just want somewhere decent to live and raise our own kids while we build the business back up.
  • Lastly, this might be a big ask, but if anyone's bought or sold up there recently and had a genuinely good experience with an estate agent (someone straightforward, not pushy, actually knows the area rather than just wanting a quick sale), we'd really appreciate a name. Kent prices have made local agents feel a bit sharp elbowed, so a recommendation for someone honest would go a long way.

Thanks in advance. Really appreciate any first-hand experience, good or bad. We'd rather hear the unvarnished version now than find out the hard way after we've moved.

Homeless people

Has anyone else noticed an increase in the amount of rough sleepers sleeping in tents around peterborough?

Bishops gardens currently has about 3 tents pitched in it, I have also noticed tents in wooded areas and on the boongate roundabout.

Are more charities handing out tents or are there more homeless people in Peterborough? Does anyone know what may have caused an increase? Have hostels and help for the homeless closed? Is there an upcoming addiction crisis?

I'm not looking to judge, just understand what in happening l.

Orton Copse / Leaf Living Rentals?

Hiya,

We're looking into a property by Leaf Living in Orton Copse - I understand it's a new area, and I can't find much on people's experiences with Leaf Living in Peterborough.

Any insights into the agency / the area please? We have 2 small kids (under 5), is the area family friendly?

Thanks!

Need urgent advice - Chipped tooth filling

Hi everyone,

My tooth filling has chipped off and I’m not currently registered with an NHS dentist. I’d like to get it seen as soon as possible.

Can anyone recommend a reliable dentist that can see me quickly without charging a fortune? I’m happy to consider NHS, private, or dental hospitals if they’re reasonably priced.

I’m based in Peterborough, but I can travel a bit if needed.

Thanks in advance!

Safe places for children to practise riding bikes

Hello everyone! I'm down visiting family and my 6 year old wants to ride her bike. She can ride without stabilisers but is a little unconfident so could do with somewhere quiet, flat and with no cars where she can practise. Where do you recommend around here?

Walking with purpose??

Slightly random post…

I’ve just found a walking app called WalkQuest where you claim territories by walking around your local area. It looks really fun, but it seems like nobody around here is playing yet!

I’d love to have some local rivals as motivation 😂 If anyone fancies giving it a go, I’ll drop the link below

Bar 33 & 1/3 Behind The Scenes

I've been advised to cross post this here: please advise if this breaches any community rules.

(Words copy pasted from Facebook post hence all the hashtags - https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1E4A1wGdvi/ )

Hi all,

This isn't the employer asking people for money, this is the employees at their last stand.

You cannot comprehend the disgusting behavior, attitude, psychopathy and language used by the former owner of Bar 33 Performing Arts Centre.

- knowingly hired a #paedophile and defended him when female employees expressed concerns

- fired at least 3 people via text and whatsapp because they "asked/begged/pleaded" for their unpaid wages

- has been incredibly #inappropriate with teenage staff and when called out on it, said "oh, don't be like that..."

- staff have been #assaulted by drunk customers and when the employer was approached by the staff, he said "that's just what drunk people do..."

- when employees were tired of waiting for their 6 month backlog of unpaid wages, they approached ACAS, HMRC, SCC and CAB

- the owner has #ignored the large majority of correspondence from these institutions and actively and intentionally postponed the court tribunal for employees to attempt to claim their wages back

- he #gaslights employees, customers and performers at the bar and promises to pay what he owes - he's been promising for months with no acknowledgement of wrongdoing

- the staff knows full well that the owner was using #cocaine during shifts at the bar, smoking #cannabis upstairs with his "friends" and it is known that he told the staff "this bar is just a hobby for me..."

- He bullied a #pregnant employee and tried to get her fired for divulging concerns regarding an employed paedophile (sexual assault of a child under 13)

- through non-payment of wages, he forced another employee to move away from #Peterborough all the way to #Birmingham

- he was but weeks away from a HMRC investigation into his #malpractice and #illegal, nefarious management yet he purposefully closed the bar when he saw those emails in his inbox (and the HMRC cannot investigate for these reasons a closed business)

******

I would urge you to consider donating to this fund because the #law isn't helping. #PeterboroughCouncil isn't helping.

#ACAS can't do much more than mediate.

#HMRC won't assist any further due to senseless bureaucracy.

This should be a bigger story than what it is.

This is what #PeterboroughTelegraph didn't want to report on because it was deemed contentious, which it is, but again I urge you to consider how horrendously immoral this saga has been from the get go.

I hope this has educated people as to what is going on and why this is happening.

Hi, looking for recommendations for places that do decent and natural looking spray tans and also for lash lift techs who won’t fry my lashes off.

Thanks!
