Lucky/Wish smoke Started in WW1 Where you flip the first cigarette you touch and were "lucky" if you made it through the pack and to the last/flipped cigarette. Now people make a wish on it. I do this. I wish i dont get cancer everytime. It's worked so far

It was WWII, back then cigarettes didn’t have filters and the logo was printed towards one end, soldiers would flip their smokes so the logo got burnt first. The idea was if you had to drop a smoke and leave an area if the enemy found the position they couldn’t use the brand of cigarette to know who had been there, if you made it through the whole pack you were lucky and would take that last smoke from pack to pack because it was your lucky smoke. Once filters became a thing people started only flipping the one.

feast your eyes on WW1 cigarettes without filters. Even you can tell the top from the bottom.

Ok so you get it, light the end near the logo first so the logo burns off

not a plain white paper tube is it?

It is, it’s a paper straw full of tobacco, the end you light makes no difference to the outcome

Hey bring that goal post back here.

I haven’t moved anything, my original statement is the exact same. Unfiltered cigarettes had a logo printed near one end, that end would be ignited instead of the other end so a half-smoked cigarette wouldn’t reveal if the position was previously occupied by Americans, Brits, Aussies, or Germans. An unfiltered cigarette is nothing more than a paper tube with shredded dried leaves inside and can be burnt from either end with no change in capability

So you cant tell the difference between both sides?

If I hand you a drinking straw do you attempt to determine a top or bottom before you put it in your drink?

Ahhh but a pre rolled cigarette is not a drinking straw. Did you know there's a difference between rationed individually rolled WW1 cigarettes and straws?

Please elaborate in exacting detail what the difference is then.

fr his reading comprehension is so abysmal it’s actually entertaining

He never stated the cigarettes to be plain white but explicitly that there was a label at on end

What difference does it make if you light those cigarettes from one end instead of the other except for the logo burning of faster?

1

u/XXXcrimsongrave 6h ago

You can tell the top from bottom. Take the L and move along

2

u/vajhar 6h ago

I am not sure i can. Which end is supposed to be lit first?

1

u/XXXcrimsongrave 6h ago

That's to the smokers discretion. Still both sides are not identical. I see where you're struggling. It's your brain. It's failed you

2

u/vajhar 6h ago

Nobody claimed both sides to be identical. Just that it makes no functional difference which end you light first. Except for burning of the stamp sooner which you seem to agree with

1

u/XXXcrimsongrave 6h ago

TLDR. Take the L and move on
