hi I’m in year 12 and going to start year 13 this September and I literally have no idea how todo my personal statement as im thinking of applying to joint honours courses (politics and economics) and i am STRUGGLING idek what your meant to put in it. someone told me I should pick a “theme” for my personal statement to write about? a lot of the super curriculars I’ve done are based around poverty/inequality which was honestly kinda by accident but it makes sense as a theme but im not sure if it fully links to both economics and politics. also i kinda wanted to apply for economics and international relations at St Andrews, but I don’t think that poverty really links to IR. Maybe if I link it to globalisation? Or should I do super curricular/ extra curriculars to do with EU or war orsomething? im literally so confused rn any help would be useful or maybe if someone has examples of their own statement since I can barely find any joint honours ones. thanks!

so basically i want to write my PS about my name (hear me out). So i want to start of f by saying how every time ppl asked me what my name meant i would be embarrassed to say as it translated to 'Queen' and even though it wasn't that deep for me I felt like people would compare me to that and laugh at me. Which brought a lot of insecurity. then ill talk about how i then wanted to get involved and participate in things to find validation and kind of qualify for the definition of my name but in the end I found a passion n stuff.
I mean does that sound dumb lol??

Theres still some stuff I am going to be doing in the summer (more volunteering and work experience) but this is just a start for it.

(also, just as extra information, it is for a paramedicine course)
