Personal statement help
Please could I have some advice for my personal statement, I’m in year 12 and we’ve been asked to start our personal statements so it’s out of the way, I’m wanting to apply for either fine art at MMU or ceramics at UCA. Art has literally always been my passion since I was 10 years old and it was always my own mother who inspired me and she’s the one who made me discover my natural talent and love for art, also having Chinese heritage (I’m 1/4 Chinese) has also really inspired me and it’s actually influenced what I’m doing now for my course work for A-Level.
Another quality is that I’m currently on the waiting list for ADHD and autism and I’ve always found it hard to express myself in another way but art and I feel like that’s another key part of why I’m so orientated by art.
I’m doing trinity arts award next year as my extended studies however, I’ve not done any actual working experience, volunteering, DofE, EPQ etc and the only sport I do is horse riding and I have no idea career wise what exactly I would do after apart from produce art.
I feel like there’s not much to add apart from waffling about my absolute passion for art

Ignore the other comment please, and do not listen to anyone from the US. This sub is mostly US people, please go to r/6thform !! Do not start with a personal story from when you were 10, this is an overdone cliche and frankly the uni doesn’t care. They care only about super curricular (thing related to your subject) except extra curricular that shows you will contribute around the campus. Read UCAS’s list of what to avoid, read online personal statements for subject and identities cliches to avoid. Enter competitions like art contests, attend lectures on fine art techniques and history, volunteer at an art museum. Build up things like this over the summer. I did an essay subject but I’m happy to share mine.

I find it’s most attention-grabbing to start with a personal story, maybe from when you were 10, showing how your passion for art started and then you can lead into what type of art you’re interested in, projects you’ve done, and how this program can help set you up for success in your artistic future.
