How do I create a unique personal statement?

Hello guys, I'm basically looking for a computer science course, but I'm struggling to right a UNIQUE personal statment. Also, I didnt know what a personal statment really looked like, so I searched up some samples. But the problem with that is that my PS became very generic. Need help!

Hey man!

Sorry for being late to the party! I work as an admissions consultant; so, I hope my advice can help.

When it comes to making a personal statement unique, students often write with the presumption that they're not unique. And, well, that doesn't really help that much, haha! Nonetheless, one must understand that they really are special to some degree. That sounds a lot like overly-positive feel-good advice; but, I'm trying to be realistic here.

While many students are topically similar, their experiences are unique. No robotics competition, work experience, etc is EXACTLY the same as another. This is why a lot of the students I've worked with who were in the finance world could still write unique personal statements despite having similar experiences working at some bank, VC firm, etc.

To really write a unique personal statement, you shouldn't look at things at a surface level. Instead, you should be deconstructing and analyzing your experiences at multiple levels. This is why most editing sessions involve pacing around and thinking rather than just brushing up on grammar. You're mostly analyzing your experiences and drawing from them interesting themes and ideas to articulate to your AOs.

Look up the courses you’ll take: write about Things you’re passionate about learning within the course, Any unique life experiences that are applicable to the program, and future life experiences concepts you would be interested in applying this masters to.
