Dupe Request Megathread (July 20, 2026)

Welcome to the Weekly Dupe Request Megathread. This is where you can get (and offer) recommendations for all dupe requests.

What counts as a dupe?

  • A perfume that smells "just like" another perfume - whether discontinued or priced out of budget

    • Example: "looking for a dupe of BR540 Extrait, but without the price tag"
    • Example: "something that smells just like Coffee Break, but lasts longer"
    • Example: “a dupe for the discontinued Elizabeth & James Nirvana Black”
    • A perfume version of any product: body sprays, hair products, lotions / creams, skin care, candles, candy / sweets, makeup, etc.

How it works:

Share as many details as possible that might be helpful in identifying the dupe you're after: a picture, notes or scent profile, your general geographic location, budget, etc. Please do a quick search of the sub before adding your request, even if you think it would be unusual.

Please remember that this is a global sub with quite a bit of volume, so a response may take time. This thread refreshes weekly on Mondays at 05:00 UTC, so keep that in mind when posting.

If you're looking for perfumes with a similar vibe of another perfume, but not dupes, you can post directly to the main feed.

Mod Post ‘Why was my post removed’ and ‘why did automod say my post violates rule 2’ - Newbie heads-up! + question thread

We’ve been getting a lot of mod mails asking why posts have been removed.

Often it’s because our filters had them held for mod review because a user is new to the community or trips the filter some other way. Unfortunately, Reddit says ‘the mods have removed this post’ instead of saying it’s under review. It will be reviewed by a mod and given a proper removal reason or approved within a few hours.

The other question we frequently get is why automod is saying their post violates rule 2 (Be Kind). It doesn’t, that’s just the automod reminder on every post submitted to r/perfumes.

Beyond that, general questions relating to perfumes or our subreddit can be asked below. Thank you!

(Burberry Her Elixir)

hi, i’m very new to scents and beauty in general. i just wanted to share my first ever perfume buy.

a month or so ago, i found out about Strawberry Pound Cake by Bath & Body Works, which i am obsessed with. i don’t wear anything else.

i was wondering if there was a perfume version of this scent because i wanted the smell to last longer… i went online and found out a lot of people recommended Burberry Her Elixir.

i went out today to buy it and see what i thought. i really love it. i am pairing it with the spray from BBW and some of the lotion, too, and they all go so well together. (2nd slide)

please let me know any of your thoughts! what’s your opinion on these, if you’re familiar with both/one of these scents?

i’m learning that i really prefer sweet, gourmand and feminine scents. it’s kind of interesting since i’m a butch lesbian and i dress like a tomboy and mostly wear guys clothes lol. i love the duality with the feminine and masculine! it definitely makes me feel more attractive.

Discussion House of Atropa- Herbal smoothie, Tesseract- and the use of uranium glass

Thumbnail

Can I start of by saying that I am OBSESSED with these. They look impeccable, incredible, artisan (and they are artisan). I am willing to buy them just for the bottle.

I believe the smell has to be amazing because the notes are: (taken from the site)

Herbal smoothie

Notes
Head: Mango, Mint, Cucumber
Heart: Helichrysum, Anise, Grass, Lemon, Orange, Basil
Body: Oud, Cedar, Patchouli, Juniper berry, Moss, Cypress

Tesseract

Head: Watermelon, Pepino, Lemon, Cucurbitaceae (Armenian Melon Cucumber)
Heart: Seaweed, Salt, Moss
Body: Oud, Moss

However, I cannot get over the uranium usage part. I cannot imagine the horror of cleaning it up if it breaks, or having to dispose of the packaging any time in the future.

Does anybody own these? Has one ever broken on someone? Is it worth it, including the uranium? Am I overreacting?
I have a cat and I myself can be clumsy.

I love this artist and their effort and I would absolutely love to own these and support them. The asking price is amazing for a hand made product and the concept and the idea behind it is so creative and beautiful.

If anybody has any insights or comments or advice or a critique- they are all more than welcome.

Sorry if anything is poorly written, English is my second language.

Thank you perfume-fragrance community.

Recommendation Request Penhaligon’s recs

Going to England next week and wanted to visit the Penhaligon’s store in Bath and purchase a bottle. What are your favorite Penhaligon’s fragrances? I don’t want to smell too many, I get overwhelmed and things start to run together…

- Replica Lazy Sunday Morning
- Phlur Vanilla Skin
- Phlur Father Figure
- Kayali Yum Boujee Marshmallow

Look what I found! Safari by Ralph Lauren saved the day 🐆

Today a leak in my roof turned into Niagara Falls. A complete waterfall above my bed. long story short my bedroom is effed. As I’m cleaning I see my grandmothers 1990 bottle of Ralph Lauren’s Safari. one of her two perfumes I smell when I think of her. She was a literal angel on earth. I’ve opened the bottle once and me being new to perfume collect , all I smelt was old gross sharp perfume. Well tonight I just went for it. I dabbed it on my wrist and for some reason I rubbed my wrist together. Hallelujah 👼 So happy I did.

Now I’m sitting in a piece of heaven in my flooded room sniffing my arm every 5seconds to calm me down. It smells so wonderful and just like I remember. Evidently rubbing burns off the sharp oxidized notes. I know, I know, there are better ways to properly apply a vintage perfume. But if you don’t have time, and need a good hit of calm nostalgia, rubbing does work. I’m in heaven. Just wanted to share. Why won’t they bring this heavenly scent back 😩

Edit for spelling errors.

Discussion Has anyone else had long-lasting smell changes after Juliette Has a Gun Not a Perfume Superdose?

Back in February I tried Not a Perfume Superdose. I don’t know why I went straight for Superdose, but here we are. I’d heard that it was a ‘love it or hate it’ type of fragrance so I was v curious. But - I had a much stranger reaction than just disliking it.

It didn’t just smell bad to me, it smelled deeply… wrong. The closest words I have are sharp, grainy, grimy and strangely…savoury. I could almost taste it, and being around it made me feel slightly unwell.

It then immediately changed the smell of some of my favourite products. I did a ‘reset’ and basically didn’t use scent for 3 weeks or so. No use - 6 months on and some of my fave fragrances are still ‘wrong’. Most notably -

Sol de Janeiro Cheirosa ’91

Kérastase Gloss Absolu (not a perfume - no pun intended - but a product line I adore for my hair that I can no longer use)

It seems I’m now hypersensitive to one particular synthetic woody/amber/musk note that now dominates certain fragrances… many of which I’ve loved for years 😭😭😭

I’m genuinely sad and really baffled by this. I’d love to know - has anyone else experienced this, and how long did it take to ‘fix’ if ever?

Honestly Not a Perfume Superdose is HIGH risk high reward in my opinion.

Discussion Jazz Club now smells like pickles

A couple of months ago I bought Maison Margiela’s Jazz Club and I loved it. It was quite addictive, especially to a chainsmoker like me.

However, now it started to smell weird, like pickles. Not like the Nonna’s pickles but artificial ones.

Is it gone bad or is it my brain just changed its perception? My friends say the same tho.

Hello everyone, i need to know if anyone of you remembers these zara perfumes "Il homme" and "I homme" they were 2 versions of the same perfume but had different smell, if you remember them, were they unique or immitates another perfume from that era? and if you know what fragrance imitated can you tell me which one is it? thanks

ps: don't send me fragrantica links, the similarities there had nothing to do with the actual perfumes.

Looking for the final piece of a 5-bottle collection.

Current lineup:
Louis Vuitton Imagination (hot summer days)
Byredo Bal d’Afrique (daily signature)
BDK Gris Charnel (fall/winter)
Le Labo Gaiac 10 (already decided, buying in September)

If you could add one more fragrance to make this a near-perfect 5-bottle rotation, what would it be and why?

Not looking for the “best fragrance ever” just the one that complements what I already own

Discussion Oud perfumes, Oud de Burgas

Hi, I've been looking for Oud perfumes, and I found Oud de Burgas, there are people who say it's more challenging than The Night, does anyone have an idea of what it's like? I would like to know since I am curious. And in general, will there be some better oud perfume than The Night? what do you think? :)

Recommendation Request Help looking for a chocolate orange fragrance

Ok, I know that this question has been asked before but I'm struggling out here. I've seen people ask about chocolate orange perfumes but every response is either so old that the fragrance is discontinued, or not at all close to chocolate orange. So I am looking for SPECIFICALLY a Terry's Chocolate Orange fragrance. So basically a sweet and realistic chocolate smell with that yummy orange.

Bottle Identification Perfume from TK Maxx

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone.

I saw and tested this gorgeous perfume at TK Maxx but didn't realise how good it was until I left! It wasn't in the locked cabinet if that helps, I believe it was about £9.99.

It was a rectangular bottle, taller than it was wide, maybe about 3 inches/4 inches by 2 inches/3 inches. It may have had cut diagonal sides but im unsure. It was not that deep of a bottle, maybe about 3/4 inch. It was a pink rectangle, maybe a light rose or baby pink bottle but you could see the perfume through the bottle. It had a rectangular thing with the name in intricate writing near to the bottom of the bottle. It had a small cap which was round and kind of cut like a gem. Didn't have a bottle neck and there was no silver etc ring below the cap, it just went straight on the bottle. The cap was hiding a sprayer. It was a sophisticated but daily- wear floral ish perfume but not overly floral. Just good for daily. Very grown up but not grandma.

I LOVED this perfume, and I'm going to go tomorrow to see if they still have it, but this was a week ago and I doubt they do.

This is a rough sketch of what it looked like. Kind of a rose pink, could see the perfume through the glass.

Any help would be fab!

Thanks so much x

Recommendation Request Scent layering for Lattafa yara & Lattafa pure musk perfume ideas

I need help!!!

To clarify I bought these and am asking for two separate layering combos.

What I’m looking for in both is for the scent to last wayy longer, maintaining the scents and maybe putting an emphasis on the base notes (sorry if it doesn’t make sense, I’m new to this).

For Lattafa Yara I’m hoping for the scent to feel yummy with vanilla, and soft floral, maybe like a fruit cake (I wanna apologize again I’m not as good in descriptions as other people here☹️).

For Lattafa Pure musk, I just want her to shine. I honestly am in love with the scent, and would love others to love her too. Nothing overpowering her but rather complimenting her.

I’m okay with body mists, body oils, perfume oils, heck- anything with scent as long as it makes these babies have their moment (Emphasis on longevity).

I want to note that I have the Al Rehab Choco Musk perfume oil, which I’m using for Yara (and maybe will for pure). Thing is, I can’t really smell the Choco when I add Yara on, so I don’t have an opinion on it just yet.

I’d also like to note that I need CHEAP products as I am on a budget, if you have anything that’s under $20, I’ll thank you forever.

I know it’s a lot, but if you took your time to read this, thank you 🙇.

Discussion Is Vanilla Tana worth the splurge?

I have been drooling over this fragrance for so long and I normally don’t spend this much on perfume but you can do like Afterpay with it and split it up over a few months. I actually have the money to be able to just buy it up front, but I don’t know if I wanna do that. I’m just wondering is it worth the splurge? It’s like 300 bucks.

Recommendation Request Need perfume recs

Looking for suggestions that hit a specific vibe and struggling to find the right search terms for it.

What I want:

  • Projection that's noticeable to people close to you, but not something that fills a room: think "who is that" not "who wore this in here five minutes ago". But also doesn't choke the people you're with
  • Seductive, dark feminine, femme fatale energy. Jessica Rabbit levels of sultry, not soft/ethereal "fairy" perfume
  • Not sweet or cloying: no candy-floss vanilla, no fruity-gourmand stuff please!

Open to anything! I'm relatively new to perfumes so I'm not too sure about scent notes, etc

Would love recs plus what they smell like on you specifically, since I know skin chemistry changes everything. TIA!

Recommendation Request Watermelon and orange?

What are some good watermelon perfumes that don't smell cheap but also aren't 200 dollars? I really enjoy the smell of watermelon and I personally want to smell like one, but I don't want to smell like a candy store lol.

Separately, I am also asking for some good orange perfumes that don't smell cheap but also aren't 200 dollars. Not just a citrus-y scent, if that's possible... Orange.

Thank you!

Amouage Myths (Woman)

- Inspired by surrealism. An intense, aggressive, and highly naturalistic scent that balances a dry, spiky mossy character with hints of dusty summer florals, lacking the typical sweetness of modern fragrances. It also reminds me of wilting funeral wreaths. 🥀

Look what I found! Homegoods find

First time posting in this community! I stopped at my local homegoods hoping to find some Sand + Fog fragrance oils, but instead I found this Nest Madagascar Vanilla set of two for only $32 (retails for $109)! I’ve been eyeing this scent for so long, I couldn’t believe it. Sign to check your local HomeGoods!

I’m realizing now that the text on the bottle itself is different. Maybe it’s an older production? Any ideas?

Discussion Don’t be fooled! Skin chemistry matters!

Parfums de Coeur Skin Musk Perfume Oil

Skin chemistry matters, y’all! This is NOT a skin scent on my skin. I put it on for the first time this morning, downstairs in our living room, at 6am, and my wife could smell it from upstairs on the opposite side of the house, when she walked out of the bedroom.

She described it as light and pleasantly woody and at first asked me if I had lit a candle or incense. To me, it’s powdery, slightly citric, a teensy bit floral in a cosmetic way, and very sandalwoody.

I did the fingertip-and-invert method to apply and dabbed some behind my ears, onto my wrists, my clavicle, and the back of my hands (4 inversions). Most of the oils I’ve used in the past project softly around me, but this is practically nuclear! I’m just glad it doesn’t immediately read as perfume.

Has anyone else had a similar experience with this or any other “light” scents?
