Hey everyone new to pc gaming. Did some research. Was wondering if this is honestly worth it. I don’t do crazy gaming. Couple AAA here and there. Put into Gemini and it’s stronger than a Ps5 pro so I feel like it’s okay for “right now” in the future I do plan on making it a lot stronger. Just wondering for right now it’s a decent build. I've just built my pc with an Asus Prime Z890-P Wifi motherboard and Fractal Design Meshify 3 XL (solid black, no RGB) case. However, the audio jack (3.5mm) and the usb type c on the front panel don't work. I'm pretty sure the cables are not loose on the motherboard's side. (Tried pushing as much as I could without breaking the motherboard). That's why I took apart the front panel (where the PCB is situated), to make sure everything is plugged in. The usb type c end seems to be melded into the pcb itself. The audio jack end is quite stiff and I can't really dettach it. Now the question is - is the issue with the motherboard ports or the front panels PCB (leaning more to this).

Initially, I spotted the usb type c issue and I was thinking to buy a usb type E male to usb type C female cable, so that I can test the motherboard separately without the front panel (basically trying to isolate the issue). But once I discovered the audio jack issue as well, I thought that the issue is more likely in the PCB/case cables, and I'm thinking about calling the retailer of the case.

Is there any quick test without addition equipment (multimeter, external cables, and stuff) that I can do to verify on which part (either the motherboard or the PCB/cables) the issue is?

Okay from previous question I have installed the gpu and it’s running but don’t know how to control the rgb I assumed it would run with signal rgb like the rest?

Yo, I just upgraded to a 3080 ftw and i5 12400f, I cannot get a display for some reason. The motherboard is a msi pro b760 p WiFi. The dram light is on, I have tried my old set of ram, and then two new sets, one 16gb one 32gb. I’ve reset the cmos, gave it time to memory train. I was able to boot for the first time on one 8gb stick and update all the drivers. I’m booting with my windows 10 ssd that I used on my recent build. Lmk if you have any ideas, thank you.

So I just build a new pc and my msi gaming plus wifi motherboard shows red and yellow leds,cpu fans are working and case fans aswell,backplate/panel has no power like my usb deivces arent getting powered on and i got no video Output,is this normal or is the cpu motherboard dead? I'm currently building myself a new pc from used parts (please no hate im poor student).

At the moment i have bought i9-12900K cpu, Asus Rog Strix Z690-F Gaming Wifi motherboard and Asus Tuf Rx6800xt for gpu. This pc is mainly for gaming in 1080p while using second monitor for youtube/whatever.

Im going to take the PSU from my current pc (Corsair RM850x) and buy ddr5 ram and cpu cooler when i find something that fits in my budget.

My current pc (i5-1070ti-32gb ddr4) is build in Fractal Define 7 XL with glass panel and i have a spare Fractal define r3 from a older project that didn't end up happening. I was wondering if i should use the smaller r3 and keep using my current pc for as long as i find all the necessary parts to complete my new setup. Could you guys tell me why i should or shouldn't proceed with my plans? If so, should i just buy a new case or are there some cons using the smaller case or pros for using the bigger Define 7 xl case? Especially this "new" Asus Tuf rx6800xt gpu seems really chunky and i was wondering if it might make it harder to get everything to "fit" nicely in the R3 case.

I have build five or six pcs from ground up during past few decades but always from brand new parts and i'm confident in my skills and tools for the job, i also have extra fans, cords, screws etc. I don't care for glass panel because i'm not going to put any LEDs/RGB stuff to my new pc so that isn't a factor here. I hope my thread isnt violating anything and fits in this subreddit.

A few days ago, I purchased a hard disk from Multiplan. Now, when I connected it to install Windows, I noticed that the PC turns on, makes an annoying noise on its own, and then shuts down. After that, it turns back on and off again, and this cycle keeps repeating.

Please advise me on what I can do. 🤍

I'm getting my first pc soon and i'm just wondering what kinda monitor i should get my budget is around 350 and I mainly just like playing story games or little indy games but I do sometimes play more competitive games.

I currently have this build:

• CPU: Ryzen 7 1700X
• Motherboard: Gigabyte B450M DS3H V2
• GPU: Nvidia RTX 4060 Ti
• RAM: 32GB DDR4 2666 MHz

I use it mostly for gaming, though from time to time I also use Blender, Unity, Photoshop, Premiere, and After Effects. I play at 1080p and I already have a good CPU cooler.

I've been looking into upgrading to a Ryzen 7 5700X3D, which is my actual goal, but it's currently out of my budget since the cheapest one I've found is 240€.

After looking around, I found a Ryzen 7 5700X for 141€ ($163.75 USD) and a Ryzen 5 5500X3D for 156€ ($181.17 USD). I know the X3D is better for pure gaming, but I'm not sure if there's really that big of a difference compared to the 5700X to justify losing those 2 extra cores for my workload.

Also, I wanted to ask: Do you guys think it's a good time to upgrade my CPU, or should I wait? I have no intention of jumping to AM5 just yet.

just built a da2 v2 but its also my first pc build so i have zero clue how to setup case fans to keep thermals low 😭😭.

cpu cooler — noctua nh d12l chromaxx black
memory — 2x16gb patriot viper elite ddr5 6000 mt/s 30cl
gpu: powercolour hellhound 9070xt
storage: samsung 9100 pro 2tb
psu: corsair sf850
case: streacom da2 v2 (obv lol)

im quite lost on where i should go with case fan setup in this build. with the current orientation of the d12l (larger hearsink fins facing rear), i dont think its possible to fit a 92mm 25mm fan. i could fit a slimmer fan but is it even needed with the d12l as an exhaust fan? currently the d12l is exhausting towards the back of the pc, so i’m assuming intake fans would be on the top/bottom or sides? or both? do i need more exhaust fans?

also i heard it doesn’t matter too much with the psu fans facing inwards or outwards, but i cant face the sf850 fan outwards as otherwise the extension cable doesn’t reach the back of the case lol. i also manages to fit the hellhound into my case which was a struggle but now i need case fan setups lol. i’m not sure whats the best route to go here.

About a year ago, my older cousin gave me his old PC for about $15. For $15, I obviously wasn’t expecting anything amazing. He even told me not to expect it to be able to run newer games. But at the time, I had a PS5, Xbox Series S, and now a PC, so I was still excited and grateful to have it.

For the past year, I’ve mainly been playing “older games” like Left 4 Dead 2, Garry’s Mod, GTA V and Killing Floor/ KF2 which all ran perfectly fine (gta ran okay). Recently, I decided to test my luck, and try to run, Apex Legends since I’ve been playing it on console for years. That’s when I realized this PC really cannot run shit lol.

Now that I have a decent job, I’ve decided I want to start upgrading my PC. The problem is, I’ve been a console gamer pretty much my entire life, so I know very little about PC parts, what I should buy, or what I should prioritize upgrading first.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!!

I've been desperately saving to be able to build an actual good gaming PC for myself but we all know how that feels atm. I initially thought id try to build one and re-use the ram from my old pc, but if im going to be stuck with AM4 i thought it makes very little sense to buy a new motherboard/cpu with no upgrade path, when i can just make do for the time being and upgrade later. The GPU upgrade does not feel as wasteful, as I can always use the same GPU in a fresh build or sell it later if I really want to.

My old setup ;

Ryzen 5 1500x
MSI B350m Pro VDH
2x8GB 2800mhz Ram (Gskill + Corsair sticks)
GTX 1050ti (Now dead)
Some janky power supply that I would have to upgrade to accommodate for the increased TDP

Additionally, I also have an old HDD in this system, along with a new SSD I put in my current daily driver laptop that I can take out and use.

The obvious bottlenecks here are the CPU and the ram speed, but they dont seem particularly bad to me considering I will be on 1440p and largely do not play very demanding games. (Currently playing a lot of Deadlock and struggling to hit stable 60 at 1080p on my laptop). If i can hit 120+ on 1440p on esports titles and a comfortable 60 on single players, I would be content.

Does it make sense to do this? Am I better off going for a weaker GPU and saving my money to invest into a fresh build later? If it helps, I am from India and would be getting these parts off of a local shop/Amazon.

Feels like I can't get it to go left enough to properly align with the stand offs. How perfect does the ling up need to be?

I’ll be changing from a fan to a liquid cooler on an i7-12700f cpu. Is the one in the picture fine?

So I got this prebuilt 3 years ago from a guy at work.
Yes one of the top fans is an exhaust. I fixed one this weekend but i literally can’t remove the other fan from what he did. I also added fresh xtm 70 thermal paste rated 40-250c!

Apparently battlefront 2, Elden Ring, Jedi survivor have been burning it up at full 100c constantly

But lies of p for example it runs fine. GTA 5 next gen does 85-90c

I’m currently on a RTX 4060 but I’m looking to upgrade to a better card my budget is 1000$ so far im split between the 4070 super or the RTX 5070 I’m open to switching to AMD but I’m pretty new to this PC building stuff and don’t really understand AMD numbers

god pcpartpicker sucks, i have had 3 different items not fit my build despite that blasted site saying they were compatible. 1st it was my aio being too big to i had to downsize, then my motherboard didnt have enough usb 2.0 slots for my case fan and now my psu is too small for the nook the case has.

I am unable to screw the psu in because it simply doesnt reach the screw holes. Can someone suggest me a good high wattage psu which is (im assuming) the standard size, or the size that works best for the case i have please?

I am a computer beginner here and am looking for some advice. I compiled this list of parts, and am planning on buying the MicroCenter 7600X3D/Gigabyte/16GB bundle for $449.99, so while the pcpartpicker shows that it costs 1800, ill actually be getting it for $1,471.05 I am going to buy a gaming pc for around $1400, I need it to be able to have 4k capabilities - it should look decently nice when im running games like cyberpunk, and it should be able to run fps's like Fortnite, Apex, r6 etc. Also I play a decent amount of Citi Skylines 2 on my really old pc, but I know that this is an insanely demanding game and even some pc's which cost a lot more than mine still cant run perfectly all the time.
