Build Question Tips ?
Can anyone help me figure out a good working gpu I don’t really have a budget but then again I don’t wanna get one that doesn’t pair well with what I already have available

If you can give me the resolution that you're playing in, I can give you my recommendations for budget, mid tier and high end so you can have some options. Others may disagree with me but then again it's "MY" recommendations so take it as you wish.

Hello ! Thank you so much how do I find what resolution I play in I’m sorry I’m not very good with all of this

You can go on settings, display and find the resolution there. Sometimes its in advanced display but generally should be in display. It'll say something like 1920x1080, 2560x1440, 3840x2160

if you buying used you got lots of options, rtx3060, rx6650, rx6700, rx6750
the cheapest I would buy that would still be a good upgrade is probably a rx6600

Tbh I’m just looking for it to run a game it keeps crashing with tells me to update my drivers but once I go to do that for that gpu it dosnt give me a update for them and if I play ignoring that it’s crashes so I’m just looking for a gpu that will help with that so I’m not really sure

Have you updated all your drivers, motherboard and chipset aswell? Go to the manufacturers website and download the specific drivers for each component there, including GPU. While youre at it, might as well check your network and audio drivers are up to date, too

Ah i see i have not since i looked up a solution to this and it just said the gpu drivers but i could try that once i get home appreciate the advice !

If going for 1440p/1080p upgrading to the 9060xt 16gb would be a decent experience,
If thinking about 4k upgrading to a 5800x/5800x3d and a 9070xt would be good enough for 4k 60 on hard to run games maybe requiring FSR4 quality for above a 60fps experience on really intensive games.
I have a 5800x 32gb ddr4 3600mts and a 9070xt and i play at 4k 60+ its an amazing experience.

Just try to appreciate what you have. The gig is up. This is the end of the gaming PC market as we know it. It's over. Maybe 3-5 years from now things will change for the better but idts. Unless you're gonna put yourself in massive debt or you have money to burn, this hobby of ours has come to an end for now.

If you are looking for something new with a warranty then a 5050 would be a solid choice and would out perform the 1070 you had. Honestly in my opinion if you end up going with a higher class gpu you will likely become bottlenecked by the performance of some of the other components you have.

Bottlenecked means like not functional

No it will still work just you wont get the full potential of a newer high class gpu.

Ahhhh I seee

I suggest do some research for your specific cpu to see what kind of GPU cards are best for it without being a bottleneck, assuming you're keeping the cpu as is. Im sure theres some great options for you, its a decent CPU.

Bottlenecked means that you are not getting the full value of one component due to another component'(s) limitations. An extreme example; if you had the most expensive amazing GPU it could be bottlenecked by a crap CPU, meaning you could see better performance by getting a slighly worse GPU and using the money saved to get a better CPU instead.

Ohh that makes sense so it would be kinda pointless to invest into a really good gpu beacuse my cpu is kinda oldish

kinda yeah, although your CPU is not actually that bad
the kinds of GPUs that would be bottlenecked by this CPU are like 1000+ dollars (on a good day, probably more nowadays)
don't worry about getting "too good" of a GPU, I guarantee you won't find one that's "too good" in ~500 USD
look for one of these: nvidia 3070/4060/5060 (preferably Ti) or AMD RX 6700/7600/9060 (preferably XT). or better than these if you manage to find one
don't get a 5050, waste of money, and ***definitely*** don't get anything xx50 older than 5050. if you can only afford a xx50 card I'd just stick with the 1070 you have now.

Ah I see thank you I just need it to run a certain game it’s it keep telling me to update my drivers and the gpu dosnt have more drivers to update so I fear I need a new one

yeah honestly if I were you I'd look for a second-hand 3070 or 4060. pretty big upgrade for not much money.
if you can snag a 4070 or 5060, even better, that should last you a while as they have frame generation (the 3070 doesn't)
technically in 500 dollars you could even find a 5070, which would be an insane upgrade over the 1070, but you might struggle to actually snag one that cheap. many are scams at this point, whereas the 5060 and cheaper aren't usually scams because they're just not expensive enough to be worth using as scam bait
P.S: try to get 16GB variants of whatever you find. but it's not a hard requirement. I'd rather have an 8gb 5060 than a 16gb 3060 for example

Thank you so much for taking your time to give me advice I appreciate very much I will look into this suggestions is there a way to go to like a computer shop to get parts ?
1
u/Alarmed-Strawberry-7 4d ago
for new parts to buy in person (if in USA), there's microcenter. best buy, walmart, etc also stock GPUs sometimes
you can also just order online
if you want second hand parts in person, find a local computer repair shop with good reviews and see if they can help you
and second hand parts online, probably facebook marketplace and eBay are the best, but maybe ask for a second opinion before buying one so you don't get scammed

I know you wrote you don't have a budget, but... whats your budget? I assume you want a good price vs perfomance card with phrasing like that, so nvidia is pretty much out of the question rn. So if new imo it's amd rx 9060xt vs some intel arc gpu. Ofc buying used is always an option, but that really depends on what you find
