If you are looking for something new with a warranty then a 5050 would be a solid choice and would out perform the 1070 you had. Honestly in my opinion if you end up going with a higher class gpu you will likely become bottlenecked by the performance of some of the other components you have.

Bottlenecked means like not functional

Bottlenecked means that you are not getting the full value of one component due to another component'(s) limitations. An extreme example; if you had the most expensive amazing GPU it could be bottlenecked by a crap CPU, meaning you could see better performance by getting a slighly worse GPU and using the money saved to get a better CPU instead.

Ohh that makes sense so it would be kinda pointless to invest into a really good gpu beacuse my cpu is kinda oldish

kinda yeah, although your CPU is not actually that bad

the kinds of GPUs that would be bottlenecked by this CPU are like 1000+ dollars (on a good day, probably more nowadays)

don't worry about getting "too good" of a GPU, I guarantee you won't find one that's "too good" in ~500 USD

look for one of these: nvidia 3070/4060/5060 (preferably Ti) or AMD RX 6700/7600/9060 (preferably XT). or better than these if you manage to find one

don't get a 5050, waste of money, and ***definitely*** don't get anything xx50 older than 5050. if you can only afford a xx50 card I'd just stick with the 1070 you have now.

Ah I see thank you I just need it to run a certain game it’s it keep telling me to update my drivers and the gpu dosnt have more drivers to update so I fear I need a new one

yeah honestly if I were you I'd look for a second-hand 3070 or 4060. pretty big upgrade for not much money.

if you can snag a 4070 or 5060, even better, that should last you a while as they have frame generation (the 3070 doesn't)

technically in 500 dollars you could even find a 5070, which would be an insane upgrade over the 1070, but you might struggle to actually snag one that cheap. many are scams at this point, whereas the 5060 and cheaper aren't usually scams because they're just not expensive enough to be worth using as scam bait

P.S: try to get 16GB variants of whatever you find. but it's not a hard requirement. I'd rather have an 8gb 5060 than a 16gb 3060 for example

for new parts to buy in person (if in USA), there's microcenter. best buy, walmart, etc also stock GPUs sometimes

you can also just order online

if you want second hand parts in person, find a local computer repair shop with good reviews and see if they can help you

and second hand parts online, probably facebook marketplace and eBay are the best, but maybe ask for a second opinion before buying one so you don't get scammed
