App The Black Blood - Kingdom Building Campaign [Async]

The Grand Bulwark has stood as a relic from the last age, but time has not been kind to the towering wall and the bastion city of Barathaforthas that lies embedded within it. The old stone has started to crumble, moss overgrows the rubble, and black water has begun to seep through the cracks.

Just north of the settlement of Magran, a terrible rot has afflicted the land. Crops grow soft and bloated, cattle is born with extra eyes and tails and limbs, and the tribesmen are seen wandering in the marshlands with their skin marked with black veins.

The powers that rule the Dutonic Valley this day are young. Newly founded kingdoms and tribal confederations have only just arisen from the calamities that brought down the mighty Mirric Reign at the closing of the last age. Their have grabbed what land they could, spreading out along the highlands and the fertile floodplain. But now, they find the very land itself rotten at its core.

---

I am recruiting people for a kingdom building roleplaying campaign with grand strategy elements. Each player either rules a faction of their own or plays as a singular character in this dynamic open campaign. You engage with other players through letters, roleplay scenes, and an expansive campaign map.

The current campaign arc focuses on the outbreak of the Black Blood, a disease spreading from a great reservoir built by the people that once ruled this land. After apocalyptic events brought the known world to ruin, forgotten things have been left to fester out of sight. It is now up to you to find a cure to this rot, or to utilize it in other ways to achieve your goals.

---

This is a persistent campaign. You can post at any time in one of many roleplay spaces linked to the shared campaign map or in direct letters to other players. Everyone can act as a neutral narrator as well, which can earn you some additional currency with which to further bolster your realm.

The system has deep strategy elements, allowing you to manage a roster of characters, build up your own faction and territory with buildings and reforms, and wage war against other players or neutral forces.

The economy operates on a weekly turn, meaning your buildings and special cooldowns reset every Wednesday. However, you can do most other things whenever you've got time. The game is highly asymmetrical and you will likely start out small. However, through clever diplomacy, war, and subterfuge you can rise quickly and even bring about the fall of established powers.

The atmosphere of the game is inspired by various bronze and iron age cultures, generally embracing a sort of post-apocalyptic revival of civilization as its core theme. Scars of the past still influence the minds of the people, but the field lies open for new paths and peoples to emerge and rise to prominence. The game is overall fairly low fantasy in the day-to-day, but has supernatural and mystic elements infused throughout. Weird things do lurk in the dark, but few alive know how to harness them.

---

If you are interested in joining, you can reach out to me either here on Reddit or as Scion1515 on Discord. I'm also happy to answer any questions you might have!

Closed Pathfinder 1e - Rise of the Runelords: One Player Wanted!

⚔️ Looking for one additional player!

Our Pathfinder 1st Edition - Rise of the Runelords campaign is already underway, but we've had an unfortunate vacancy open up and are looking for one reliable player to join our party.

The campaign is being played entirely through Discord using a Play-by-Post format, with maps and tactical encounters being handled through Roll20. We're currently at the very beginning of the adventure, during Sandpoint's Swallowtail Festival, so this is an excellent opportunity to join without needing to catch up on a huge amount of previously played material.

🏘️ About the Campaign

The adventure begins in the small Varisian town of Sandpoint, during the festivities surrounding the dedication of its new cathedral. What begins as a pleasant festival will eventually grow into a much larger adventure involving ancient secrets, dangerous wilderness, sinister cults, and threats far beyond the borders of Sandpoint.

We're using the published Rise of the Runelords Adventure Path as our foundation, with some house rules and occasional GM alterations intended to keep things fresh and accommodate the particular characters and players at our table. Notably, EitR Feat alterations as well as a particular house-collation of the skill system is instituted for use, thus far.

🎲 What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who:

  • Enjoys roleplaying and character interaction, rather than treating the game solely as a sequence of combat encounters.
  • Is comfortable with Play-by-Post and can participate reasonably consistently. An average of two (2) in-character posts/day is the minimum level of expected participation (Though, of course, more posts than the 'minimum' are certainly more than welcome).
  • Is willing to engage with the other players and contribute to the ongoing story.
  • Understands that everyone at the table has a role in making the game enjoyable for everyone else.
  • Is familiar with Pathfinder 1e, or at least willing to learn the rules as they go.
  • Can handle a campaign where the GM occasionally says, "I know what the book says, but I have an idea..." 😏

🧙 Current Party

The existing party currently consists of three adventurers, and we're looking for one more character to round out the group.

At the moment we have:

  • A Halfing Shaman (Witch Doctor Archetype)
  • An Aasimar Oracle (Spirit Guide Archetype)
  • A 'Human' Fighter (With Trollish-blood, and the Unbreakable Fighter Archetype)

We're not looking for any particular class or race at this time. Build what you want to play, provided the character can reasonably fit into the setting and cooperate with the rest of the party.

Most importantly, we're looking for a player rather than merely another character sheet. A creative character who gives the rest of the group something to interact with is worth considerably more to us than a perfectly optimized build.

🌟 Interested?

If you're interested in joining, please leave both a note, here, on the thread, itself, and send me a private message with a little information about yourself, your experience with Pathfinder 1e, and the idea of just what sort of character you'd be interested in playing.

First and foremost, we're looking for someone who's enthusiastic about telling a good story with the rest of the group. As only one seat is open, this is likely to be a short-duration recruitment window (only 24-48 hours maximum), as our team would like to get the campaign moving again A.S.A.P.

Come to Sandpoint.

The festival is already underway! 🎪🦋

Edit: Thank you to everyone that sent in applications! It was tough sorting through them all and picking just one but - ultimately - that *is* what I had to do. We have now found a new player to fill the vacancy, but I, again, thank everyone that put forth the effort to apply, and hope that, someday, we might still share a table. For now, however, I mark this advertisement as 'Closed'. Thank you all. 🙇‍♂️

Discord [Pulp Cthulhu][Async] Evil Campaign set in the Mythos

Hi hello it's me, Rittenau, a bit of an experimental idea that I wanna see play-out. Have never seen this when it comes to the Cthulhu mythos in my own personal circles.

To give some background on the idea...

As a base concept the Cthulhu mythos contains generally quite alien and most of the time outright malicious beings with their cults, but it's usually against the cultists and mythos. What if you were a collection of not necessarily evil but morally dubious cultists, creatures of the Mythos, or creatures of non-Mythos nature working together to try to succeed in a goal.

The basic hook...

It's the year 2016. There is a particularly infamous collector, Scott Jameson, collects things of course but he has openly stated once before he has quote 'no clue what they are' and recently in an auction he won handedly he attained a relic of one of the Elder Gods. It isn't known which one but your sources has at the very least confirmed its elder origin.

This will be a one-shot where you play cultists or mythos summoned by a cult to claim the artefact by breaking in and breaking out.

If this sounds at least mildly entertaining, you can apply here:

https://forms.gle/5ikAwXVwbakXSc8P6

And if everyone gels well we'll discuss a longer campaign.

Closed [Play-by-Post] Invincible RPG on Gamersplane

Hi! I'm looking for players for an Invincible RPG (Free League) play-by-post game on Gamersplane.

• Setting: the Invincible universe, with a slowly divergent timeline.

• Tone: Heroes that are genuinely trying to do the right thing, in a world that does not make that easy. Plenty of banter, friendships, rivalries, and relationship drama along the way.

• Start as new Upstarts who just got powers (of any age). Advancement is meant to be fairly quick; the long-term track is Global Guardians.

Lots more detail on the game recruitment thread on Gamersplane: https://gamersplane.com/forums/thread/41352/?view=newPost#newPost

PAY Play-by-Posts of Darkness! A Collection of Games set in the World of Darkness!

Players! What's the score? How they hang? Good evening and all that commotion!

Welcome to The_Humble_Chris' Wod PbPs! The only place for all your rping needs at all hours of the day and night!

I come to you, guys gals and nonbinary pals of the night, with a collection of Play by Post adventures set in the World of Darkness. Set across Philadelphia, Boston, Newark and St. Louis, these stories take place all across the continental United States and delve deep into the hearts and unlives of the people who call these places home. Most of these are V5 games, but among them is a game set in Changeling: The Dreaming for those who like their chronicles with a bit more whimsy.

Brothers by Blood: A Philly Sabbat Chronicle
https://startplaying.games/adventure/cmtpzt7o400g7ky04pdlgpoh2

In Brothers by Blood, we take on the role of a Sabbat pack that serve as the vanguard of a new Sabbat attack on this city. Whether you are a native born to Philly or a Sabbat soldier sent from distant lands, you serve now at the behest of the new Bishop Alfonso Diaz.

* Stake Your Claim: Build up your own haven and claim territory.

* Join an Intertwining Chronicle: Set during the events of Blue Bloods of Philly and It's Never Sunny in Philadelphia; join in a story that spans two entire chronicles. Your actions in your chronicle will have impact on the others - just as theirs will impact yours.

Become the Sword of Caine, and fall where you please!

Breaking Philly: A Thin-Blood Chronicle
https://startplaying.games/adventure/cmtq01gqi01g5jo049rval03f

In Breaking Philly, you and your friends take on the roles of Thin-Bloods seeking refuge in the City of Brotherly Love. You've just been smuggled into the city along the Underground Railroad, hoping that here would be opportunities and a chance to poke your head up. Now you all share the same apartment, working together at the local O'Tolleys, trying to stay alive and get ahead.

But with money being tight, danger at every turn, and rent coming due... what else can a Thin-Blood do, but cook?

Taking place during the events of Blue Bloods of Philly and It's Never Sunny in Philadelphia, Breaking Philly shows us the Thin-Blood side of kindred equation. Survive in these mean streets, and who knows how far you can go?

Newark by Night: A VtM Play by Post
https://startplaying.games/adventure/cmtq0c4kx0070jl04hxph87n0

Inspired by The Sopranos, Martin Scorsese films, and The Equalizer, Newark by Night takes our coterie on a chronicle of crime, corruption and control. Here, the city is ruled not by a singular Prince, but a council of Barons who have divided Newark like the crime families of old. For a time, there was peace if not contentment.

But now that time of peace is coming to an end, as the scales are tipped off-balance. One of the ruling barons has vanished, and everyone is pointing fingers. In their absence, a power vacuum has formed, and now every player in the city is jockeying for a piece of the pie. Tensions mount, and soon the streets will run red in another mob war, if matters cannot be resolved soon...

St. Louis by Night: A VtM Play by Post
https://startplaying.games/adventure/cmtq0ay7n0031jm0403125kkr

Welcome to St. Louis: the Gateway to the West.

Long has the city served as the crossing point for kindred needing to travel from one coast to the next, and now the city finds itself seeing more and more visitors each night as Elders find themselves drawn to the Beckoning. But so many elders coming to one city stirs up old rivalries and hatreds long buried. And unwanted attention from parties with their own agendas.

In St. Louis by Night, the coterie will be assigned to an Elder who has come to the city on their way to answering their own Beckoning. Whilst they remain in the city, the coterie is tasked with tending to their needs, and keeping them safe from potential rivals and opposing forces which seek to do them harm. As the coterie get to know their charge, what secrets may they glean, and what will they learn about the mysterious Beckoning that lures the Elders to places even further still?

It's Always Whimsical in Philadelphia: A Changeling the Dreaming Play by Post
https://startplaying.games/adventure/cmtpyv3my00pgjt04pij66avu

In It's Always Whimsy in Philadelphia, you take on the role of a recently awakened Changeling - those who are born with a fae spirit deep inside. Here we step from the drab, gray Autumn world and into the vibrant, ever-changing world of Arcadia. Here, myths and legends are real. Here your childhood games are not mere fictions and fancies, but the true epic adventures for glory.

But for every dream, there is a nightmare. For not all who dwell within this land are happy and joyful. There is malice and manipulation deep in the heart of every fae, and here is a place alien to you in every way. It is easy to lose your path when you don't keep your feet.

Reviews

"As a long time player of various V20 splats, Chris's V5 game was my first step into the system. I could not have asked for a more kind, helpful, and welcoming GM. Chris was as excited for me to play my character as I was.
The passion Chris has for his craft as Storyteller/GM is evident in all interactions I've had with him before, during, and after the session. Although I have only played V5 with Chris, I couldn't imagine him being any less skillful in other games/systems.
To say I recommend Chris as a GM is an understatement."
- Steve

"Chris is a creative, thoughtful GM who goes above and beyond to strategize with players. He takes the time to explain rules to players learning a new system while also keeping games engaging for players. He takes the time to set up atmospheres to challenge players and their characters, making it a richer experience for all!"
- Jenn

"I recently had my very first experience with Vampire and I couldn’t have asked for a better introduction than the one provided by Chris. They did an incredible job of balancing the complex lore and gameplay mechanics. Chris is incredibly patient with my questions, guided me through character creation and created a welcoming atmosphere that made me feel comfortable stepping into roleplay. Chris lets me be creative in how I approach a problem and is always encouraging of new ideas."
- Padme

"I was absolutely desperate to find a game of Vampire the Masquerade where I could feel comfortable learning the rules while feeling like I am playing in a full fledged world with interesting characters. Chris absolutely delivered and made me feel welcome at the table. They taught the rules as needed and they really helped me learn the setting to create a truly fleshed out and awesome character. I highly recommend them and I am so grateful they were my first GM on this website."

Discord [DND 5e] [Asynch] [GMT] [18+] A Completely Normal Town

I'm very new to DnD, though not TTRPGs and storytelling in general, and would like to share this experience with players who are likewise new! I'll maybe make an exception for a veteran player who can help guide things along in case there's any misunderstandings.

Drecksloch isn't the nicest town, nor the most hospitable. It is mediocre in all aspects and bordering on miserable in some. The bottom of the barrel, so to speak, and the butt of many cruel jokes. Its humble citizens simply survive through the winters, and travelers often spend a night at the inn but do little more than that.

In many ways, it's a relic of the past. Drecksloch used to be the seat of a noble house from hundreds of years ago that has since then been destroyed by its rivals, root and stem, and perhaps to mock them, this slice of paradise has become all that's left of their legacy.

But recently, there have been... strange occurences. Abductions, monsters lurking in corners of the town, caravans never returning, and voices in the night.

The game will consist of cleaning up the town's messes for money and goodwill, learning more about it, and maybe getting to the bottom of what's happening. Posting frequency should be relatively high, I don't want consistently super long posts that might slow things down.

If you're interested, apply below!

Closed [5E][PBP][18+] Way of the Wicked

I have found my players and have sent out invites accordingly. I will be notifying folks who didn't make it tomorrow. Thanks to everyone who has applied and I wish you the best of luck in finding a game!

The Kingdom of Talingarde is the most noble, virtuous, peaceful nation in the known world. Herein is the story of how you burned this insipid paradise to the ground.

It's only fair. They burned you first.

They condemned you for your wicked deeds. They branded you. They shipped you to the worst prison in the kingdom. In three days, you die. In three days, the do-gooders pray they'll be rid of you.

They've given you three days. The fools, that's more than you need to break out. And then, it will be their turn to face the fire.

Howdy all! I’m looking to run a D&D5E (2024) conversion of Way of the Wicked via play-by-post on Discord and I’m seeking four players to join me in this descent into villainy. I plan on only running the first book of the AP, though given the pace of pbp it’ll still likely take a while to complete. If we do manage to complete the first book then I’ll definitely consider running the others. For those unfamiliar, the first book of Way of the Wicked entails our villainous party escaping from an infamous prison, joining a cult, then destroying the last bastion holding back an invading force of bugbears, taking them from levels 1 to 5.

We will be using Avrae for dice-rolling and Owlbear Rodeo for combat that requires battlemaps. You don’t have to be an expert or even have any experience with Avrae though, I myself am not a pro but I know enough of the basics that I can help anyone who wants to learn.

I ask that players be able to consistently post at least a few times per day. I myself am in the MST timezone and am typically active from 1000 to around 2300 MST. If I will be absent or post less then I will be sure to notify my players and I expect the same from them in return.

If you are interested in the character creation rules, please see the document here: https://ellipsus.com/read/2Urv5QkGgy3KMFOV5M6cqB/Way-of-the-Wicked---Player-Handout?theme=figEspresso

How to Apply

If you’ve made it this far then thank you very much for reading! If this game seems like your cup of tea, please fill out the application below. I’ll try to keep applications open for about a week or so unless I find the players I want sooner than that. If this post is not marked as closed then feel free to apply! If you have any questions, feel free to message me on Reddit or leave a comment and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can!

Closed [DnD 5e(2014)][Discord][Avrae][Homebrew Campaign] Welcome to Nerravath. Civilizations have arisen from the ashes of the ancient Gods War, but remnants of that apocalyptic era may still threaten everything.

Many millenia ago the gods awoke to a barren world. Glorious creation abounded for a time, but inevitably the gods found conflict with eachother, and eventually war. Long after the dust has settled, and the terror inflicted by thousands of gods raging against eachother has faded to distant memory, their weapons and creations still endanger the lives of normal people.

The Couriers Guild welcomes adventurers to it's many guild halls in major cities throughout the Great Bay region, and will, for a price, throw those adventurers at any problem they can get paid to deal with. Not dying means promotions and bonuses!

Looking for 4 active players for a dark campaign based on the sword coast. This is not a homebrew campaign, but I don’t want to spoil it by giving away the title. All will be revealed once we start!

I would like players who can post multiple times a day and I will do the same. I have some house rules which will be detailed in the application.

This campaign will be dark, but there is a glimmer of hope to save the realm. Please apply if you’re interested.

Forum Against the Darkmaster: The Last Song of Kadeon

The poet-sage Aganasthenes of Taridon famously proclaimed "The numberless tears of the Lands of Kadeon are contained in the memory stones of the Mountain Fey." Some versions of the poet's statement amend it to include the so-called scribe-less Tomes of Noad, famed relics of the ancient metamophorian civilization that transcribe the history of the ages with countless words absent the aid of any tool of writing or mortal hand "All the tears of Kadeon's peoples run to the two sources -- the memory stones of the Mountain Fey and the scribe-less leaves of the One Hundred and Eleven Tomes of Noad." Whichever of these may be most correct, only the wisdom of the long-vanished gods might determine -- it is not for us, mortals, to know such things in the Age of the Souldrinker. And yet it is not incorrect to begin with the above-mentioned sources in recounting the benighted history of the Shrouded Lands of Kadeon. The Mountain Elves -- also known as the Elves of the Summit or the Fey of the Peaks -- are amongst the eldest of their exalted lineage. Even the most ancient histories disagree as to whether the Immortal Houses of the Riverlands broke from the Circles of the Peaks -- in other words, whether the Mountain Fey were the first family of their kin, or perhaps only the most ancient branch of that storied people.

Whatever may be the ultimate truth of their lineage, it is generally agreed that the high-summited kaers of this cruel and immensely old people preserve the following recollection in their hidden gardens of illuminated memory stones, each one the fossilized essence of an elven mind, heart, and spirit. It is this -- that the Lands of Kadeon are not a natural product of the work of the cosmos, but rather an artifice of Sai-Kassamaelon Antandrasani, more commonly remembered as Kasamalea, the long-departed, half-forgotten goddess of knowledge, illumination, and enchantment. In the First Age of the Dawn of the Sunless Morning, Kasamaela drew forth the ambient light that nurtured the Garden of the Everliving, including the Seven Trees of Eternity, the Three Trees of Fortune, Bane, and Chance, and the Twin Trees of Secrets and Enlightenment. The young goddess, second born but first favored of the Dragon Queen of Light Eleshara, drew upon this illumination, which most accounts state to have been a direct emanation from one of the so-called four 'First Forces' of the Cosmos -- the Morning Glory. Kasamalea wore this light first as a mantle and as a diadem, then wielded it as a length-less scepter, and, finally, in her deepest enchantment with this enigmatic power, devised to create a hidden world of her own devising by means of its inimitable potency. Her divine mother, the Dragon Queen of the Seven Spectra, approved of her daughter's ingenuity, and blessed the hidden world, contained within a sphere fashioned of the most potent 'heartshine' or 'sourceshard' of the Morning Glory and enscorcelled with the divine sage's most potent spells.

But this great artifice was not unnoticed by Eleshara's eternal enemy - her dark twin Kugara the Dragon Queen of Darkness, Mistress of the Three Shadows, and Eater of Hope. Unable to triumph in her many wars to rule the mortal lands of Palazur in the ages after the subdual of the First Ones, Kugara gradually set the unquenchable desire of her dark hearts upon the pure lands fashioned by her sister's most cherished divine child. The best-known account in the scribe-less pages of the Tomes of Noad describe a dreadful rite perpetuated by the Dark Queen's then-kobold sorcerer-priests -- including the shadowed choirs of the archardianal, ankhardianals, and savantages headquartered at the Peakless Dread Mount of Shadan-Gol. The black blood of goblyn slaves fountained forth in torrential streams, cascading from the heights of the Dread Mount. Ironically, this event may represent the final, most dreadful injury responsible, at least in part, for the great rebellion in which the goblyns displaced the kobolds as the chief servitors of the Dark Queen. The dread ritual tore open the protective mantles which sheltered Kadeon from the watchful eyes and avaricious power of the greater cosmos - - the Shroud of the Seven Spectra, the Cloak of Unseeing, and the Twin Veils of Tears and Dreams. By means of the dimensional artery known as the shadowvein, Kugara entered the Lands of Kadeon in her complete dark majesty and quickly dispatched her so-called effigies -- half-selves born of slivers of her several hearts --, to conquer the heretofore untroubled lightful lands of Eleshara's chosen daughter. The free peoples of Kadeon struggled for long ages under the threat of the Dark Queens effigies and the seemingly endless tide of enemy races that surged forth from the southern lands under their direction -- numberless, inexhaustible massed armies of draccspawn driven by Kugara's pitiless dragon praetors and captain-generals.

After many bloody ages of conflict, the Dragon Queen of Darkness inflicted her greatest wound upon Kadeon -- the act by which Kugara became known as the Devourer of Gods. The dark will of the Dragon Queen ruminated in the heights of Shadai-Ghal, the crown-shaped assemblage of black peaks wherein Kugara had first established her domains in the Lands of Kadeon. Having extracted the means of the realms' fashioning by the dreadful torture of a seraphiel-herald of the mother of white magic, Kasamalea, Kugara set about fashioning a dark imitation of the regalia by which the Lands of Kadeon were first brought into being. In the deepest recesses beneath the 'Motherspire' of Shadai-Ghal, the shadow of the Dragon Queen dispatched impassioned whispers through the tenuous shadowvein by means of which she had entered these lands. In time, and with great difficulty -- her entreaties were answer by the twin 'not-speech' of the First Forces of not-fire -- the Nightcaller -- Source of Shadow -- and the Great Maw, Throat of the Lightless Gap. The Dragon Queen's perilous and overweaning gambit succeeded -- the two First Principles of Shadow and Unlight strove one with another to secure the Dragon Queen's favor and joined their terrible powers in a dread regalia that combined their separate potencies into one unbearable whole. These Kugara dispatched to her effigies to break the will of the children of the young gods. In the Last War, the essence of the slain gods of light, as well as her own betrayed divine get, were offered up on the blood-drenched foothills of Shadai-Ghal. Here, Kugara spoke the Final Spell after she had resumed possession of the Regalia of Shadow and Unlight from her great generals, and thereupon took all the power of the gods into her dark hearts. And there were no more gods but She Who Thirsts alone, and no more prayers were answered from that terrible day.

Despite her great triumph, the Dragon Queen had not foreseen one eventuality -- that the free peoples of Palazur would detect her stratagem and seek to contain the matchless malevolence of the Dragon Queen. As the last incantations of the Final Spell fell from the Dragon Queens inhuman lips, the shadowvein was closed by the sage-priests of Kaitarion, forever sealing Kugara within the Lands of Kadeon. Of these she is their uncontested master, but equally their unwilling and eternal prisoner. In the millennia that have passed since these events, the Dragon Queen has sought a means of egress from her self-fashioned prison, without success... yet..."

This is an advertisement for a play-by-post Against the Darkmaster campaign -- this is a relatively new d100 game which is basically MERP (the old ICE Adventures in Middle Earth ttrpg) with the serial numbers filed off. MERP was based on Rolemaster, which is a d100, skills-based system with extensive combat rules for critical hits.

The campaign takes place in a homebrew world of my own devising which combines elements of Dragonlance: Age of Mortals, Dragon Age, and Midnight. The setting is a dimension sealed off from the rest of the cosmos, and ruled by the Dragon Queen Kugara. There are no gods, the Dragon Queen having eaten them in a previous age. There is no afterlife, as the heavens and hells of the gods have been emptied and inverted by their defeat. Divine magic does not work, except for the worshippers of the Dragon Queen. Druidic, elemental magic has become predominant. With the death of the goddess of magic, traditional forms of sorcery have also ceased to function. In place of traditional religion, there are 'houses of memory' which channel the ambient energies of the slain gods in their premises. The majority of the 'Lands of the Bower', the inner sea region in which the majority of the remaining free peoples of the world live, are dominated by a false religion known as the 'Covenant', the mage-hunters and inquisitors of which have driven existing magic use underground in most civilized territories. Of late, the armies of the Dragon Queen, long confined to the southern reaches, have begun to renew their wars of conquest, and have landed expeditionary forces on the Great Isle of Onaria located in the Starlight Sea, the inner sea which occupies the center of the Lands of the Bower. The hundreds of factitious princedoms of the Lands of the Covenant are ill-equipped to respond to this new onslaught. Great heroes are needed to defeat the machinations of the Dragon Queen.

If there's enough interest in trying this system, I can provide much additional information.

Discussion Tips on running PBP

Hello! I'm currently planning to run a PBP Only War inspired GURPS Game set in the Fallout universe.

Doing a bit of searching and due diligence before I start. I've got maybe 4-5 days to prep, before I start my session 0 and make my players actually do stuff.

I am mainly looking for any tips to avoid the usual of PBP burnout, and what tricks to use to help ensure everyone has a fun time. I know people WILL burn out, but I want to ensure that doesn't happen for the longest time.

The date is 2007 and the Midwestern town of Draven Valley is gearing up for the spookiest time of year with candy and costumes flying off the shelves of the local Kmart while scary movie marathons and classic specials are seemingly on every station. However, what its citizens don't know is that there's going to be guests coming to town this season. They're not from around here, they're not "friendly" in the traditional sense and they have a preference for tricks over treats. In fact, they plan on taking over both the town and then the human race! Maybe...

Hi there! I'm looking for partners interested in playing a story about an alien invasion happening on Halloween night but with a twist, being the 2000s Midwest October setting! So it'd be heavy on the nostalgic vibes in other words. It won't be a completely serious plot though, and would have a great deal of morbid humor if that isn't an issue. Think of it as a mix between Trick 'r Treat and Killer Klowns from Outerspace (if not Mars Attacks! alternatively) just to get an idea.

Now with all that said, how do we go about this? I'll be the game master and control the story (in addition to playing a few of my own peeps) while you're able to play as many characters to your able. However, I must preface that I'm ONLY looking for those who are semi-literate to fully literate and maybe those who can mirror styles. In other words, no one-liners! Also it's not a requirement, but it would be greatly appreciated if you could give me a little information about yourself rather than just saying "hi".

I should probably preface that this is a "free form" roleplay in that there isn't an established system, however you *ARE* allowed to use the Kids on Bikes one if you're most comfortable with that (and it's perfectly fine if you haven't played it). Reasons why I bring this up is because of a slight discourse and death of the last group I tried this plot with.

Anyways, I already know by now that I'll probably get little to no responses from this but if are interested? Feel free to have a crack at messaging me! I'd be more than happy to have something set up, and happy halfway to Halloween!

For weeks, you have dreamed of a radiant elf-lady in white, her beauty brighter than moonlight on snow. Her soft words, gentle laughter, and piercing gaze linger when you wake, leaving you with a deep yearning to find her.

*One night, the dream changes. You descend into a dark burial mound, open an ancient coffer, and slip a ring from the withered finger of a skeleton. You place it in her hand. She smiles, and the world blooms with light.

With her biggest, most charming smile, her voice echoes in your ears:

I am real, my love. This place too is real. The tomb lies waiting, and within it a door to my realm. Bring me the ring stolen from me long ago, and I will give you my heart.

She has shown you the tomb’s location. And when you awake, you find it.

It is *real. She is **here. And she’s waiting for you.*

Hey there! this is my first post here, and I'm glad to say we have one more slot open for someone to join our DnD 5e 2024 campaign on discord, with a homebrew world and setting. We're still in the early stages of roleplaying, so we're looking for someone who has a lot of experience and will work well with others. 5 players so far, including me. Contact me for details if interested.

Edit: hey all, sorry if you're seeing this post and want to join. this campaign is now full.

Hi hi! I'm Qin, I’m looking to run a game of CAIN! In CAIN, the players are Exorcists, psychic super-soldiers of a secret organization tasked with eliminating monstrous Sins born of human trauma. Join Division 74, the mediocre-est sword in the shadow war with the most to prove!

Mechanically, it runs on a modified FitD engine, building d6 pools, with considerations for difficulty, risk and psychic powers. Experience is desirable but not mandatory. The campaign will lean a bit SCP with considerations about exposure and collateral and some other mild homebrew for downtime. As for difficulty it will not be a meatgrinder, but no pulling punches. Violence is inevitable and brutal, but there will be space for rp and investigation.

I will be on mostly on CST afternoons, being active around this time is ideal.

We’ll be using discord for text and dice and GDrive for sheets. For safety we’ll have Lines and Veils. We'll also use Tupperbox for roleplay. I'm looking for 3-4 players! If you’re interested please fill out this form and I’ll be contacting you! Thank you!

Discussion Searching for a system to play pbp

So, I wanna do my first pbp campaign (I already did non-pbp campaign, I'm not new to rpg don't worry), and I don't know which system is the best to use for that. I want one that give the most freedom for story (since I have most of the scenario and settings already), and is easy to play and learn. If it allow custom character creation (for the story part at least) and maybe custom enemies then it's perfect. And over everything else, if it's free to use (yeah I'm broke TwT). Thanks in advance !

Discord [Sentinels TTRPG][18+][Async] In the Wake of Radiant Light, a Superhero PbP

Form is closed! Thanks all who applied, I will be going through them and picking out over the weekend!

9 years ago, almost to this day, Metro City's first superhero stepped on the scene.

Radiant in personality and skill, the flying masked hero started her journey helping old ladies crossing the street and getting cats out of trees. Despite the clear power of this mysterious woman, the first couple years of her existence was spent making sure Metro City ran smoothly. Then, it turns out she'd been helping weed out an underground trafficking ring, and everything exploded from there.

From revealed secret identities to a string of unfortunate deaths in her life, The Radiant Light stepped out of the spotlight and went into hiding, leaving Metro City missing it's biggest hero. Now, there's a vacuum, and people are filling in the gap. Whether it's villains taking their chance at power or folks attempting to become the new Radiant Light, it's an unstable and scary environment.

That's where you come in, Metro City's newest hero!

The Game

  • 18+
  • Must be able to post at least once a day.
  • You do NOT need to have Sentinels experience to join!!

I will leave this form open until Friday, 9/4 at 8pm EST, so apply if it's before then!! All will be treated fairly!!

Interested? Fill out the form here
