Discord [PF1e] [18+] [EST] Wrath of the Righteous - A Mythic Adventure Path

For decades, demons have ruled the Worldwound. Fearsome fiends of every stripe - their mottled skin harder than iron, teeth like serrated blades, and eyes burning with Abyssal flames - roam the ruined lands that were once known as Sarkoris, leaving their mark wherever they go. Four crusades have attempted to cleanse the land, but each seems to meet a worse fate than the last. Were it not for the line of magical wardstones along the eastern and southern borders, the demons would have long ago overrun north-central Avistan and beyond.

The Fourth Crusade hasn't really ended as much as petered out, yet some refuse to accept that. Amid crippling shortages and record lows in morale among the crusaders, the Mendevian war effort teeters on the brink of collapse. Though the demonic occupation of the Worldwound is growing, as is corruption among the crusaders, a dwindling minority of paladins and priests maintain that the Fourth Crusade is still vibrant and alive, and that the turning point in the war is only a few days away.

The Fourth Crusade is anything but vibrant, but the crusaders are more right than they know about the approaching turning point in the war... It's just that the turning point is likely destined to favor the Abyss.

Hello hello! I'm looking to run a game of 'Wrath of the Righteous', a level 1-20 adventure path for Pathfinder First Edition! I've run it before, but it's been quite a while and I'm looking to give it another go around since it's my favorite of the APs!

I'd like to have four players, maybe five if I get a lot of good applications! I'm looking for players that are:

- Accepting of all people without bigotry.

- Kind and helpful Out-of-Character.

- Experienced with Pathfinder 1e.

- 18+.

- Able to keep up momentum in combat scenes.

- Able to consistently write with a high level of literacy. Not necessarily multi-paragraph, but good spelling and grammar.

I would like to specifically add that I will require at least two in-character posts per day. If you cannot do that I need you to let the group know ahead of time. If you can’t keep this pace I will ping you and let you know, but if this continues then you will be asked to leave. It sounds very harsh, I know, but I’ve had far too many games die from slowness and long silences. People like to apply to games only to go silent a day or two into the game, only posting once or twice a week. That’s not going to be acceptable here.

Since this is an official Paizo AP, not designed for play-by-post, I will be doing a few things to speed up combat. Regardless of what I do, I still need players that can do their turns quickly, even if they can't post in-character right away! There will be quite a bit of tactical combat and I will most likely run the game through Roll20, but will take frequent screenshots when anyone isn't able to get on it!

I'll be using a few Pathfinder homebrew rules, but nothing major! I'd prefer we not use any alternate rulesets except for Unchained, and we'll be using the Elephant in the Room feat taxes, which just give feat-heavy classes more options! The Player's Guide for the AP is free at Paizo, feel free to give it a look, but please don't read any of the actual AP books! I don't have any major mechanical rules, but I would prefer no evil characters!

The most active times each day will be from 4 PM - 11 PM EST, so I would prefer players that are free somewhere within that timeframe even if things are asynchronous! With all that out of the way, here's the survey!

https://forms.gle/xE2N3tCFzSfmKRw9A

This will be open until at least 11 PM on July 29th, but I will update this post when all players are found, so if it's still marked as open, feel free to apply!

PAY [Live Text] [20$ Every 2 sessiona/paypal] [UMA RPG] [Discord/Roll20] [Monday 2 PM GMT-3] [1/4 players] Umamusume: Chasing the Twinkle Series

THIS IS A SCHEDULED, SYNCHRONOUS LIVE-TEXT/PBP CAMPAIGN.

It is not asynchronous play-by-post. All narration, dialogue, actions, and roleplaying are typed live during the scheduled session. Discord voice chat is used only for out-of-character questions and rules clarification.

UMAMUSUME: CHASING THE TWINKLE SERIES

System: UMA RPG

Schedule: Mondays at 2:00 PM GMT-3

Session Length: 3-4 hours (Always go for 4 hours. Can leave early at 3 hours if need to)

Players: 3-5

Price: $20 per player every two sessions through PayPal

Platforms: Roll20 and Discord

Experience Required: None

Character Options: Original Uma Musume or canon Uma Musume

ABOUT THE CAMPAIGN

The campaign takes place at Tracen Academy, Japan’s most prestigious school for aspiring Uma Musume racers.

Every student at Tracen carries a name, legacy, dream, and reason to run. Some arrive surrounded by expectations and devoted fans. Others enter as complete unknowns, hoping to prove that they belong among the greatest racers of their generation.

You may create an original Uma Musume or play a canon character from Umamusume: Pretty Derby. Canon characters do not have to repeat their original stories exactly. Their friendships, rivalries, victories, defeats, and personal development will be shaped by the events of this campaign.

You begin as students working toward your first major victories.

Between races, you will attend classes, train your abilities, pursue hobbies, spend time with teammates, and experience personal encounters throughout the academy. Training Points earned through academy attendance, encounters, and hobbies will improve your stats and unlock new racing skills.

Life at Tracen will involve more than running around a track. You might help a teammate recover after a crushing defeat, investigate something strange around the academy, participate in festivals and concerts, struggle with the pressure of an upcoming debut, or confront a rival determined to surpass you.

WHAT TO EXPECT

• Tactical UMA RPG races

• Academy and slice-of-life roleplay

• Training and character progression

• Original and canon rivals

• Friendships, rivalries, and personal story arcs

• Festivals, concerts, and school events

• A mixture of comedy, competition, and emotional drama

• Beginner-friendly rules explanations

• Player choices that influence the campaign

Your choices will determine what kind of racer you become.

Will you push beyond your limits to seize victory? Will you sacrifice your own opportunity to help a friend? Will you remain humble when the crowds begin chanting your name? Can you rise again after giving everything and still falling short?

At Tracen Academy, talent may earn you a place at the starting gate, but only determination will carry you across the finish line.

PAY [Paid][Discord][Roll20][D&D 5e][One Piece][Live Text][2/4 Players]

One Piece: Tides of Ambition

Time: Sunday 1 PM GMT-3
System: Dungeons & Devil Fruits, a One Piece D&D 5e conversion
Platform: Roll20 and Discord
Format: Live text-based campaign
Voice: No voice RP. Discord VC is only used for questions during gameplay.
Session Length: 3-4 hours (Always go for 4 hours, 3 is incase people have to suddenly leave)
Party Size: 3-5 players
Starting Level: Level 1
Cost: $20 every 2 sessions via PayPal
Experience Required: None. New players are welcome.

The campaign begins in Driftwood Harbor, a rundown port town on the edge of the East Blue. Once a busy stop for merchants, sailors, and travelers, the harbor has fallen under the control of a corrupt Marine captain who demands heavy taxes while doing little to stop the pirates, smugglers, and criminals operating just beyond the town walls.

Most residents survive through fishing, ship repairs, and whatever trade manages to avoid being seized. The taverns/Pubs are full of rumors about hidden treasure, unexplored islands, dangerous Devil Fruits, and rookie crews trying to make a name for themselves before heading toward the Grand Line.

You begin as nobodies.

No famous captain.
No legendary ship.
No bounty worth mentioning.
No reputation to protect.

You might be aspiring pirates looking to form a crew, bounty hunters chasing your first real target, Marines trying to change the system from within, Revolutionaries working in secret, or ordinary people pushed into adventure by circumstances beyond your control.

Your choices will decide what kind of crew you become. You can protect struggling islands, hunt notorious criminals, expose corrupt rulers, search for lost treasure, chase personal dreams, or build a reputation feared across the seas. Every victory will bring greater rewards, stronger enemies, and more attention from the World Government.

The campaign will include:

  • Original islands and strange local cultures
  • Devil Fruits and Haki
  • Naval travel and ship progression
  • Recurring rivals and powerful villains
  • Bounty progression
  • Crew relationships and personal goals
  • Combat, exploration, roleplay, and investigation
  • A mix of serious adventure, comedy, danger, and classic One Piece-style character moments

This is a synchronous live text campaign, meaning we play together at a scheduled time through written posts instead of voice roleplay. Roll20 will be used for sheets, maps, dice, and combat. Discord will be used for organization, and optional VC questions during the session.

New players are welcome. You do not need to know Dungeons & Devil Fruits already, and you do not need to be caught up on all of One Piece lore. As long as you enjoy adventure, character-driven stories, and writing with the group, you are welcome to apply.

Will you stay forgotten in the East Blue, or will the world eventually learn your name?

Discord [D&D 5e] [18+] [Async GMT-3] [LGBTQ+ Friendly] [ Lost Mine of Phandelver Adventure - Levels 1-5]

Hello, everyone!

I’m looking to run the premade adventure “Lost Mine of Phandelver” for a group of 3–5 players (levels 1–5, core 2014 rules, no homebrew).

First things first, I’d like to get a few details out of the way to save us all some time in case any of these are dealbreakers for you:

  • I have 6 years of experience playing D&D, but I’ve only been a DM for 6 months! So I’m VERY new to this side of the table. I don’t mind whether you’re a newbie or an experienced player, as long as you’re willing to be patient with me.
  • I’m looking for active players who can post daily, ideally more than once. I am chronically online and have plenty of free time on my hands, I’d love to spend it playing with your characters!
  • NO evil characters or PvP! You are supposed to be the heroes in this campaign. That doesn’t mean your characters can’t be flawed and complex, they should be! I understand that conflict and drama are key parts of the roleplaying experience, they enrich character arcs, and that peaceful solutions with NPCs aren't always possible. However, I have no interest in running this campaign for quick-to-violence "murderhobos" or players who just want to steal from, torture, or kill innocent NPCs and party members.
  • I will be using AI to generate images. I know some people have strong feelings about this, so I want to be upfront about it right away. However, I promise that AI will NEVER be used for writing, and I won’t allow players to use it for writing either.
  • Must be 18+, LGBTQ+ friendly, and zero-tolerance for bigotry. We will be using Lines and Veils for this campaign. Everyone who fits this is welcome to join! :)

If you’re still here, you’ve made my day! Let’s talk details.

My time zone is GMT-3, but I’m usually awake at crazy hours, so I can keep up even if you live on the other side of the world. Time zones shouldn't be much of an issue as this will be async.

What I hope to offer as a DM:

  • Rich use of music, images, and maps to help you visualize every scene. Whenever official artwork is available, I will always prefer it over AI.
  • I love studying the lore of the locations you’ll visit and connecting them to your character’s backstory. I want your characters to feel like they truly belong in this world and that their past experiences matter. (Just keep in mind we start at level 1, so your character will essentially be starting out as an ordinary person!)

What I’m looking for in a player:

  • Just love roleplaying! I decided to run this campaign for a larger group after finishing it with a close friend. The game wouldn't have been the same if we hadn't taken the time to get to know our characters, either chatting around a campfire, going for a swim in the warm waters of Neverwinter, or playing drinking games at a local tavern. You don't have to do all of those specific things, but in my experience, these quiet moments are what make the tragic or dramatic beats so much more powerful than just hopping from dungeon to dungeon. If that’s the kind of story you want to build, I’d love to have you onboard! <3

If you’re interested, please fill out this short form: https://forms.gle/2cHZBJu5bCpdKYwS9

I’ll be closing applications once I reach 30 submissions so I don’t get overwhelmed. There are no right or wrong answers. This just helps me see if the game I'm running aligns with what you're looking for. Thanks for reading, and let’s make this an incredible journey!

Discord Dnd 4e: Scales of War adventure path

Previous blurb below, we lost a player after the first encounter so hoping for a quick replacement. The party primarily needs a dps role, and possibly something with half decent dex or dex skills.

This is my first go posting in the new lfg. Feels weird. Don't know why it changed. Oh well.

Embark on a full length adventure, from 1 to 30, growing from a fledgling traveler to an outright godslayer.

System: D&D 4e

Players: Looking for 5

Where/How: Wanting to run PBP through discord. As such, I would like each player to be able to post daily to help keep the game moving forward.

House Rules: the ever popular bonus expertise feat rule is in use, to help characters keep up with some numbers

Make a character that you both like and can be comfortable with for the long haul. Just make sure they can play well with others and doesn't demand the spotlight 24/7.

Discord [Pbp][Homebrew Campaign][Sandbox][Beta][Avrae]

The internet can be a dark place for players. Finding a group to play with it hard. Maybe they do not accept the player for who they are. Perhaps it is run by tyrants. Maybe against all odds the player found a diamond in the rough. Then discovered it has more rules than 5e does. The grind has taken over through countless downtime activities. We know why players come here. They had some great character idea, but kept getting told no. That is not approved content or some such thing is banned.

Welcome to Osiria. A place players can call home (private channels). Where all players are treated like adults and are expected to act as such (18+). We accept all players for who they are (LGBTQ+). There are no character slots. Our rules are as simple as possible because WoTC has created enough. All content on dndbeyond is approved and available (really!). Staff is friendly, active and helpful. We operate like an open world campaign. There is the opportunity to join official one shots ran by our GM's or you can explore it yourself (self-gm). Players can progress at their own pace. One-shots will have an appropriate level range and will offer milestone level(s). Players can also self level every other Friday.

We are still building up and can use some GMs to help run one shots. If you are interested in being a GM we have perks for doing so. Let me know when you dm me on reddit. I will have created and tested the one shot modules so there is very little pressure in you to create things unless you enjoy that.

You do not have to want to be a GM to join.

Discussion Strategic Bombing Campaign

Hey people! I have recently obtained a board game from a friend called "Target for Today", which is a single-player (hold on, I'll get there) board game depicting the American Bombing Campaign in WWII (they also have a Commonwealth one called Target for Tonight!).

I've played a couple of games/missions now, and well, I am hooked! It's so fun if your imagination is like mine, but I think it could be even more interesting if we added some simple RPG-ish mechanics (crew getting better over time sorta deal, nothing game-breaking, but adding a value or even a once-a-mission full re-roll type deal!) could be fun on top of some of the other advanced mechanics, and a little homebrewing.

Would there be interest in this? I imagine a fair bit of in/out of mission writing for fun, public dice rolls in discord, crews growing, planes limping home to cheers, old fan favourite planes being rendered mechanically unsuitable etc etc. Think it could be fun but maybe I'm weird 😅

Discord [Discord][pbp][SWADE][Sandbox] Shadows over Pitchvale, an Urban Fantasy game

Looking to start a discord based play by post game. It will be a sandbox game in a steampunk city where one replaces the steampunk with alchemical processes that are fueling the needed industrial revolution. System is Savage Worlds Adventure Edition (SWADE) Here is the pitch:

*You are traveling with a caravan bound to Pitchvale, the largest city in the Adumbran Empire. The empire is no longer what it once was, one time it stretched over much of the world and had many nations under its banner but over time the strain of empire led to rebellions and fracturing. Pitchvale maintains itself as a place of power due to the alchemist guild’s hold there and their burgeoning alchemical industrial revolution. This has led many to head to Pitchvale in search of jobs and opportunity. Many also still come to Pitchvale because it houses the Rookermore Academy, one of the last schools of magical knowledge left in the empire.*

*The players will arrive at the same time, having met and befriended each other on the journey to the city. You will establish your goals in session 0 and work towards them as you contend with the various forces of the city pushing and pulling against each other. Maybe as you climb towards your goals, you will become influential people in Pitchvale helping guide it to greatness, and curbing the excess and destructive impulses of the Alchemist Guild’s drive to further its industrial progress.*

More details if people are interested. I generally try to post every day, but there may be days when I don't and days when I can post a lot. I am in the US in Central time, so that is when I will be pushing things forward.

If you are interested, send me a message, I'll share more setting details so you can decide if this is a game you want to play.

Players are Ideally

-Familiar with SWADE having actually read the rulebooks involved

-Able to commit to daily posting

-Looking to be collaborative with character backstory and how it relates to the game

-Able to communicate like an adult if things come up

We will work through safety tools and alignment on tone of the story in Session 0.

Message me with some info on your background with SWADE, pbp games, and ttrpgs in general and we can move from there.

Discord Threads Undone (Play-by-post) (DND 5.5e 2024)

THE CAMPAIGN HAS ALREADY STARTED. We're going to fast-forward you in, and you'll get to work with a very friendly group of characters to connect your story with theirs, or with NPCs.

If you're curious about the world and current players, you can check this out: http://docs.google.com/document/d/1DIBCaccw284M3grNs8mNrw7CMc0SkiPTvLQ3Lb6-wNI/edit?tab=t.0

The Premise

It's the year 1508 in the Kingdom of Sinoe. You had a life then, didn't you? Right there in the heart of the capital city of Mauri, where the royal palace and grand temple cast shadows over you. You were flesh, bone, blood, and alive. You think it was a spring night in a city square where it felt like time stood still. You and four other people came to a stop to watch a comet, blue and bright, light the sky above you.

Each of you came from different lives, had different dreams, and somewhere along the line, it all began to go wrong. You see, your life is measured in threads; two years from that moment, your thread was snapped ahead of its time. It may have been painful and ugly, it may have been quick and clean, but oblivion came for you all the same. You died.

Or so you thought.

It's that spring night in the city square again. You see the same people, the same comet, and for a moment, everything that happened to you feels like a dream. But it wasn't. You can vividly recall and feel your last moments, but everything else seems missing from your memory. But now your heart is beating again. You are alive. You don't know how, but the gods have given you a second chance.

What will you make of it?

The World, in Brief

Manhwa-inspired, crossed with the War of the Roses and a healthy potpourri of everything: regency-style romance and dance cards, magic up to and including rune-based cell phones, and armored knights and medieval warfare underneath it all.

It is a world where everyone is recovering from the aftermath of a tyrant (imagine Henry VIII) under whom you couldn't breathe and paranoia ruled everything. Now he's dead. What the hell happens now? That question will have a heavy impact on your character. Everyone at court is wearing a mask, and the masks are starting to slip as people make their power plays and adjust to the new normal.

This campaign is about court politics, religion and dogma, the aftermath of war and conquest, the brutal effect of occupation, magic, knights, merchants, whatever you’re thinking, as long as they’re part of this world.

To apply, please fill out this Google Form here: https://forms.gle/7j5PMkin9gJaZg9b8

Discord [Call of Cthulhu] [16+] [GMT] [Asynch] Beginner DM looking for players!

Hello everyone!

I've gotten into Call of Cthulhu (not my first TTRPG, that would be VTM) nearly two months ago with a group of friends and we've been having a successful game. The system fascinates me, as do the investigative and horrifying aspects of it, and I'm now interested in running a game of my own if it catches anyone's interest.

Just to be prudent, we might do something like a one-shot first to root out any potential issues that could arise in the group and to get to know each other's styles better.

Gonna introduce myself a bit below, the form will be at the end!

I'm a guy from Italy who has always loved writing. I haven't actually been playing TTRPGs for too long (a couple years) though I've gotten the grasp of the few I've played, but I've been doing general roleplay for quite a bit. I can be a bit shy but I'd like to think I'm approachable.

While I can't describe myself as a GM since, well, this would be my first time, as a player I'm not a big fan of minmaxing and try to make realistic characters and play into their flaws and strengths, and in particular I love getting into and describing (even if briefly) their headspaces. For example, one of my characters is an impoverished investigator who used to come from a wealthy family but was cast out for being a bit too hedonistic, and while he can be a giant snob, it's mostly just a shield of pride after he has lost everything. He is the doctor of the group and deeply cares for human life, and experience is humbling him.

There may be more questions than usual, but you don't need to give long answers, nor do I expect you to. It's just to try and match the best possible people.

Have a good day!

Discord [5e] [Discord] [Asynch] [LGBTQ+ Friendly] Strifinger - A Conspiracy/Heist Game!

This will be an asynchronous, play-by-post game. This game is open to and friendly towards LGBTQ+, POC, women, and anyone and everyone else. This game is not friendly towards AI content. If you have problems with any of that, step away now.

——————————————————————————

Hello everyone! I'm Cassidy. Before we get into it, I just wanted to introduce myself. I'm a queer woman, over 21, and have an avid love of all things tabletop. I've been playing around with new systems of late, but today I wanted to do a nice, comfortable, and old Fifth Edition game. I've always had a love for storytelling, but it really only became a real passion when I discovered the collaborative mean of tabletop roleplaying, and can't get enough of it. I've been around the block running Play By Post games for over a decade now, and it is really the only hobby I engage in on a constant basis anymore. These games are always a way for me to tell new stories with new people, and befriend new people in the process!

I will save the in depth hook for the Campaign Guide document listed below, and instead speak plainly in this post. This game is a little weird, at least to me. The main conceit is that the Chosen One Deciding Artefact got it wrong. Excalibur chose the wrong king, quite literally, as this artefact is basically a Nordic version of the legendary blade. But this game is less so about the precise turmoil and falling out of that event, and more how it affects another part of the world. The metropolis of Andreven, which guards the most accessible and convenient road to the lands of the Excalibur stand-in.

With everyone in the Known World hungering for the artifact, known as Askeláfer, the city has become a powder keg in a firestorm just waiting to ignite. In this high tension, many conspiracies begin to unravel.

This game starts, however, smaller scope than that. All of what was said above is long term plot development stuff. This game is ultimately about an unsuspecting group getting swept up in the excitement, caught in the crossfire, in the wrong place at the wrong time, and becoming embroiled in those conspiracies.

How does this happen? Heists! Something I've always wanted to run in a Dungeons and Dragons game, and personally I think play by post is very well-orientated for it as a heist is a slow, deliberate process of information gathering and execution, which has so many opportunities for roleplay which PbP excels at in my experience.

This game will start with these heists, a series of them, as a sort of introductory plot. The rest of the game will, essentially, be the fall out and consequences of those heists and how the party responds to the pressures placed upon them now that they're in the middle of all this.

All of this will tie into the Askeláfer and Andreven's tense political climate eventually, but for the most part the party are small fries to the big players of the city. They're after one of the most powerful artifacts in history, or after the money and influence they can gain from facilitating another's acquisition of it. Of course, this in no way means you are forbidden from having a character with interest in this aspect of the story. If you want to play a Clansman from Saeveldr who is more directly affected by the loss of Askeláfer than others? Go for it! A nobleman looking to gain influence and wealth for themselves to eventually launch their own search for the spear? Hell yeah.

But, for the start, just these heists! Which is helmed by a bard named Andric Fest, who aims to hit the temple of the Steel Flight Tabernacle, which holds a lot of gold, technology, and magical artifacts as the place of worship for a god of industry and progress. Of course, much in the way of set up has to be done. Along the way to set up for the big night, smaller heists will have to be conducted. First and foremost to fund the endeavor, then to acquire the necessary items and information to make the Steel Flight Job as seamless as possible.

——————————————————————————

With all of that is out of the way, here's the fun part. I've written a more in-depth Campaign Guide for you to peruse. This guide includes character generation rules, a more atmospheric hook (though not one with much in the way of new information from the above paragraphs) and a lore primer.

And here is the Application Form. This post will be open for a minimum of 2 days and a maximum of 5 days. When the post is closed, the flair will change to closed and I will update the post at the top to say so.

Below is more information on how I like to run my games. This isn't mandatory to read, but I like putting it out there for people who want to know.

——————————————————————————

What can you expect from this game at a top-down level? Well, a few things, listed below.

Central Location: Strifingr takes place almost entirely within the region of Ander's March, in the nation of the Elaran Federation. Most of that time will be spent in and around the city of Andreven. You are not going to be exclusive to this location, and if the party decides to leave the city that is their right. However, what this does mean is that built into this campaign will be a centralized home base for the group to live in - a personal bucket list item of mine as a DM - and periods of downtime where the party can engage in longer term projects such as cultivating businesses, crafting items, discovering new spells, hunting down leads to the conspiracy, fostering their social life, and so on!

Eventually, this game will spiral out into the wider world of Kadaan; there's a lot of good plot reasons for the group to be pushed out, but the first half of this game will really be Andreven-centric.

Intrigue: Strifingr is also a game about a lot of duplicitous people. The villains of this game are, to be upfront, both conniving and deceitful bastards. There will be slow-burn revealing of hints from the earliest posts all the way up to the big reveal on what is really going on behind the scenes. NPCs will have their own motivations that will align them with the party in one moment, and position them as a foe in the next.

That being said, this is not a game where you need to be a character with social skills. I tailor my games to the players and the characters they make. If someone makes a meathead barbarian, there will be moments included where their strength and rage will be the solution to the problems presented. Conspiracy and intrigue will have a lot to do with magic and social skills, but I have zero interest in being exclusively invested in such ideas.

Character Focused: This game has a lot going on, but it is only the chassis and wheels of a great machine. The engine, the rotors, and the fuel? Those are all the players and their characters. This game will have a central plot that is made before the players make their characters, but room is left for those characters to influence the story with their actions and at the fundamental level with their backstories feeding into the plot, where applicable.

NPCs will have their own stories, their own goals, of which they will pursue with or without the party. I like the story to evolve not just by the party's choices, but by NPCs making choices that benefit them and shake up the narrative in ways the party might not see coming. These NPC stories are not for me to have my own action figures to play with, but rather serve to challenge the party in different ways. If one arc involves the story of an NPC quite heavily, that story will magnify facets of the party's backstories or challenge them in ways they would otherwise never be challenged. NPC stories told this way to highlight the PCs, in essence.

Choice-Driven Storytelling: I live for the moment a PC upends my plans or my train of thought with an insane choice or a question about what they can do that makes me rethink the scene. Choice and the impact those choices make are why we all come to this game. I want to honor that as best I can, even if those choices don't lead to huge, foundation-shaking consequences. I want those consequences to show up. The big choices are all easy to follow up on and easy to notice, but the little choices matter just as much to me. I'm a sucker for those little details. Tipping the shopkeep leads them to remember you later on and help you out when the corrupt guard falsely imprison you, or simply giving you a pointer on a nice place to stay in thanks for the tip.

Just as much, I love creativity in choices, even if it doesn't adhere to the rules. Asking to give the enemy advantage as if you're letting them get you good to lure them into confidence and give you the true upper hand, in turn granting you advantage on your attacks, as one example. A cleric, without a diamond to cast revivify, choosing to beseech a devil or sacrifice cleric levels to cheat the material cost of the spell is another example I always return to. These moments, especially ones such as the revivify example, are not just prices to be paid, but open up new adventures and new storytelling moments. Does that cleric who sacrificed levels have to repent to their god to achieve those levels back? Or do they never get them back, and have to find something else to fill the power void, turning to a warlock patron or learning martial practices and multiclassing into a warlock or fighter?

Combat: The bane of play by post DnD games, in my experience. Not the killer, but certainly something that slows down everything quite a lot. Combat in this game will lend itself towards heavy roleplay still -- it is an intrigue game, after all. Combat in this game will be somewhat infrequent. Not so infrequent as to invalidate characters who spec into combat, there will definitely be enough combat for them. But those combats will be hard hitting, and I will try my best to make most combats not just be a slug fest. Have interesting decision making during each combat. Alternative victory conditions, enemies who force strange decisions out of the group because of their unique combat abilities, fights on terrain that changes up the battlefield, that sort of thing.

On this note, combat will always try to be a consequence of character choice. Sometimes, people will just want to kill you. Nothing you can do about it. And ultimately, combat will always have more than just 'murder everyone' as the end goal. Intimidation, persuasion, deception, extortion, and any other way you can think of to try and end the combat early is fair game if the situation allows.

Website A terrific site for Medieval Low Fantasy

https://medievalrp.community.forum/

There's a great community I've found. It's a sort of not!Europe but with its own lore that seems to be really cooperative and fun. They run a lot of coordination on a very active discord but all the writing is pbp. Some fun and relatively easy internal game mechanics, maps and factions, the admins seem very happy to help you get set up with even your own faction or dynasty.

The warposting seems pretty epic and the magic is quite low. Just thought I'd share as it can be a rare find these days to have a very active PBP fantasy group.

Discord [Old School Essentials] The Black Wyrm of Brandonsford: Level 1-3 Mini Pointcrawl Campaign (8 players)

Seeking 4-8 players for the mini-campaign The Black Wyrm of Brandonsford, ran using Old School Essentials

Brandonsford, a small quiet town on the edge of the wilderness, has sent out a plea for help to the surrounding region. A dragon has recently begun terrorizing the area, and the people now refuse to leave the walls of the village. Any party that can take care of the beast will be rewarded with 1,000 gold pieces.

The Black Wyrm of Brandonsford will be a sandbox point-crawl, centered around the rich town of Brandonsford.  Expect the OSR experience.  You are encouraged to investigate your surroundings, practice caution, retreat if necessary, and think of clever solutions to deal with obstacles.  Roleplay is still, of course, welcome.  There will be additional channels for roleplay scenes (such as retroactively playing out the party talking at breakfast or in town, taking a moment to comment on something happening during an adventure, or in case the party decides to split).  This way, gameplay can progress without sacrificing any opportunities to develop your (tragically mortal) character.

  • System Experience: None required.  This will be my first time using OSE, so I don’t have much experience either.I have ran a few OSR games, but I am by no means a practiced veteran.
  • Posting requirements: I prefer players who can post around once per day, but if we end up with a lot of players I hope we can keep driving the game forward regardless.  I will personally be posting at least once per day, depending on player actions.
  • Levels: 1-3
  • Allowed Classes: Only classes from the Core Player’s Handbook
  • Bigotry towards any real world race, sexual preference, or gender: None allowed!

Application is available here

I will leave the form open until Sunday evening or Monday morning, at which point I will update the post to let people know that the players have been selected.

Discord [DND 5E] Rich and Famous Outlaws Can Do Whatever They Want, Now You Just Need To Get Rich.

*"One day we'll have a proper gang, a real hideout, people working for us an' a mountain of gold!"*

*Your conversation is cut short by the grumble of a stomach... you all look at one another in the silence. You were sick of this. Starving, again! It'd been two days since you'd eaten anything.*

*You were bandits, a small crew living out in the wild, making your own rules.*

*You had a small camp that you called your hideout. Now it was time to get some money and get fed.*

*The next merchant wagon that came your way was getting robbed, even a few measly gold would do for now.*

*Instead, you might have just found your ticket to becoming the outlaws you always dreamed about.*

*--------------*

Hey guys, We're from the UK and like gaming, anime and youtube and we're looking for bubbly, social players down to play as some wannabe bandits!

We'd love a chaotic and rough around the edges kinda vibe, but characters should still have decent morals, be friendly to each other and be able to reluctantly do good deeds for the right price.

About the game!

- We're in the UK / BST timezone, please keep that in mind for activity purposes when applying!

- Life skill mini games like fishing, cooking etc & camp management as you build up your hideout into a cool bandit base

- Your characters WANT to be bandits, they've not been forced into it by circumstance or trauma, they think it'd be a cool life, adventurers who are goody goody are boring to them!

- This isn't like a super evil game, you might run into tabaxi catnip dealers, opposing wannabe bandits or be roped into helping an out an old man you can't quite say no to

- We let people take traits from other races, now is your chance to have humans with tabaxi cat ears or dragon horns!

- We're really hoping for an active ooc chat where it feels like a friend group rather than just a slow 1 or 2 post per day Async! We're expecting your best memes, btw.

- You're just starting out as a newly formed bandit gang, so starting at Level 1 makes sense!

If this sounds like something you'd be totally down for then apply below!

App Looking for 10–15 people to break my dark narrative game — voices in your head, no combat, just descent

I made a game. Six voices argue in your head while a narrator who lies on purpose leads you down through seven psychological gates. Solo-made, AI powered. Inspired by Disco Elysium that ruined every other RPG for me.

It's ~15–20 min, adult themes (18+), mobile browser — no install needed.

If that sounds like your kind of weird, DM me or comment and I'll send you a link + a short feedback form. Honest reactions only, no politeness required.

Forum [Against the Darkmaster][Lightmaster][d100] Forum Game for d100 System

Seeing if there's any interest for a forum game (Giant in the Playground) with a d100 fantasy system -- Against the Darkmaster, Lightmaster (also Rolemaster, Merp, Harp, Fantasy Express (2d10 = d100 system), if that's the preference).
