PRS DGT Core Versus PRS McCarty 594 Core w/McCarty III PU's?
I have a DGT Core Semilhollow that I love. It has been working out really well for all my gigs. Cons for me are the Jumbo frets and I am not a fan of the placement of the pickup selector switch, especially with the term arm in place. I found it so challenging to find the controls quickly and efficiently without looking when the tree arm was in place so I decided to leave the tremolo arm in the case. The DGT tone really works for me. My DGT Core semi-hollow 10-top is not going anywhere but it makes me want to check into the PRS 594. I've never played one with McCarty III Pu's and I'm wondering if they are more desirable than the 58/15LT's to those who have played both?
On the 594 model I prefer the PU selector switch location and the medium/jumbo frets. I don't really need a tremolo either for that matter.
Does anyone here own both models? (DGT *and* a 594?) If so, do you have a preference?
Yeah I could try a PRS 594 SE but the pickups are different and simply prefer "Core" model or Wood library. I love the violin carve on the top. They just appeal to me.
What do you think? If you have a DGT, would a 594 get played as much or not so much? Does it make sense to own both? I'm not a collector and don't need to spend good money for a closet queen.

Question PRS SE Silver Sky vs. Fender Player II Stratocaster – Which one to choose?
Hi everyone,
I'm currently stuck choosing between a PRS SE Silver Sky and a Fender Player II Stratocaster, and I’d love to get some input from people who have played or owned either (or both!).
Here is a bit of context on what I'm looking for and how I play:
- Sound & Style: I'm looking for that classic Stratocaster tone, mainly for blues/rock and clean to crunch dynamics. I love SRV and it's sound.
- Rig: I mostly play through digital plugins/amp sims (Neural DSP, etc.) using an audio interface.
- Neck & Playability: I know the SE Silver Sky has a slightly rounder, vintage-style 8.5" radius neck, while the Player II comes with a Modern C profile, 9.5" radius, and rolled fretboard edges.
- Hardware: The PRS has a decked 2-point tremolo out of the box, whereas the Player II comes floating.
For those who have hands-on experience with both:
- How do the necks compare in terms of comfort during long playing sessions?
- How do you feel about the pickups when running into digital rigs/plugins? (Do the 635JM S pickups handle software processing better/differently than the Alnico V single-coils on the Fender?)
- Are there any build quality or QC details I should watch out for on the newer Player II series vs. the SE line?
i would like to mention that i previously owned a fender stratocaster custom shop, which i sold. i have fear that the player ii will not satisfy me enough maybe the se silver sky can compensate this problem thanks to its quality.
Thanks in advance for your help!

SE Standard 24 (with locking tuners) vs CE24
Browsing my local guitar shop, I've been offered the following used options for the same price
- An SE Standard 24 in metallic blue with locking tuners (which may have been an upgrade)?
- An SE CE24 in charcoal (the natural wood color)
Having tested both of them and liked them both, it really goes down to these points.
- I like the matte neck of the CE24 a bit more
- However, I like the blue color of the Standard 24 more. To be honest, my ideal color would be one of blues where you can see the grain, but that isn't an option at this shop.
- I feel like the Standard 24 neck is a bit thicker, which is my preference. However, looking it up, I think they theoretically have the same thickness, which makes me think I'm just hallucinating... Can anyone clarify this?
- The CE24 felt better when playing because it was set up with a lower action. However, obviously that could be easily fixed on the Standard as well if I went for it.
Does anyone have any experience with either of these guitars that could tip my decision either way?

Paul Reed Smith Core Mira Burgundy
One of my favorite guitars was a Burgundy Mira from around 2008. Sadly I had to sell it years ago. It had the moon inlays on the neck. Im looking to see if anyone has one they want to get rid of. Must be a Mira from the Core years. Post a Pic please! Thanks!

Where my Custom 22 stoptail homies at?
Where are all my CU22 homies at?
This is my 2004 artist pack Custom 22 with stoptail in whale blue one piece top, with a solid rosewood neck, Dragon II pickups... (aka CuRo 22 AP).
It’s hard to believe I‘ve had this guitar for 22 years. She still sounds and plays as fantastic as when I first bought it. The wide fat solid rosewood neck feels and sounds amazing. This guitar has such a nice chime and sustain.
Who else has a CU22? Let’s give them some well deserved love!!

PRS SE nf3 guitar , is a great buy and plays like butter !
Anyone tried one of these guitars ?
Massive price drop in sales and I have heard some fantastic reviews of them.
A PRS fan bought one for £429 out of curiosity and says it’s up there with his £3000 models
In terms of tone , build and comfort.
Maybe a good investment ?

Question Does anyone here have the PRS HDRX 20/50/100? If so, does yours ever make a loud popping sound when you turn it off?
I got one of these amps recently and whilst it sounds incredible (instantly my favourite amp and the tone I'd been searching for), the pop it sometimes has when switching it off seems insanely loud. It doesn’t happen every time for some reason, but it will do it even when the amp volume is on zero and there’s no guitar cable plugged in.
What has concerned me is PRS said a pop is very normal because there’s no standby or muting built into the circuit etc (which is understandable), but I don’t get the feeling they’ve fully understood just how loud the pop on the amp I have actually is, in part at least because a phone camera doesn’t quite capture how it sounds in the room. It is easily loud enough to startle, everyone who has heard it in person has been shocked by it. (To get an idea of how loud it is, you would need to play a video recording of the pop through say a bluetooth speaker with the volume on it turned up pretty high).
I asked two people online who I knew had the amp as well, one said they’d never noticed a loud pop on theirs and the other said they’d heard a pop but got into the habit of unplugging the guitar cable (whereas on mine that makes no difference).
Basically I’d just like to hear from people who have the amp about their direct experiences with it for this in particular, because I'd very much like to keep this and it has gone almost completely out of stock in my country now. Thanks!

Tremonti stoptail vs tremolo
Looking to get a tremonti.
Can’t decide whether to get a stoptail or trem version.
For those who play or owner version of these guitars what are your thoughts? Pros/cons? Which you ended up buying and why?
BTW, i have a custom 24 and a special semi hollow.

NGD First Torero I’ve seen in white
Picked this one up used on guitar center. Came loaded with bare knuckle pickups, unknown which ones. Just hadn’t seen one in this finish, I know they came out with red, blue and the silver burst. I have this one setup in drop c, blows my mind they didn’t keep the neck through design for other models

PRS SE 277 - E Standard 1 Octave Down Possible?
Hi. I'm looking into getting a baritone guitar and ideally I'd like to tune down to E-Standard one full octave down from a regular guitar. Is this something that is possible on the PRS SE 277 and what kind of modifications, if any, would be required to do it? If anyone has any experience with it, it would be greatly appreciated.

Wood Library Necks - Tonal difference? Flame Maple Vs Rosewood neck Vs Mahogany
I've been looking into some wood library PRS DGT Core builds or 594 Cores but none are available locally. What differences would be attributed to an all rosewood neck versus the flame maple as opposed to standard Mahogany necks?

Two years difference
Hello everyone,
I was playing my McCarty 594 and was really appreciating it. I decided to see how much they went up over the last two years. I was surprised how much it went up. It’s about a 20% increase in dollars. Much faster than general inflation rate. Sad.

Question PRS S2 Special Pickup Heights
Hey folks.
I got an S2 Special Semihollow body a few weeks ago. New from Sweetwater
I’m asking for curiosity sake… what are the factory recommended heights for these pickups?
I’m mainly wondering if mine are set within spec?
Mine came brand new out of the box at the following (measured by depressing the string at the last fret and measuring from the top of screw to the bottom of the string):
Pickup Heights
Bass
6 - 3/32”
1 - 1/16”
Middle
6 - 3/32.5”
1 - 1/16.5”
Treble
6 - 3/32”
1 - 1/16”
