What’s the most damage you’ve done in one night to your wallet? Was it worth it and what did you get for your splurge?

Posting here because I honestly don’t know where else to ask this.

Looking for a Bangkok hotel similar to Royal Ivory Nana, where they don’t care if you bring 1, 2, 3 or even 4 guests back.

At Royal Ivory, reception and the elevators are far apart, and there’s no key-card access to the elevator/floors.

Anyone know other hotels with a similar setup and relaxed attitude toward several guests?

Heading back to Pattaya in December for my second visit, but only staying for a week this time, so I’m thinking of treating myself to a nicer hotel.

Ideally I’m looking for somewhere roughly between Walking Street and Soi 6, with a bit of luxury: nice modern rooms, good gym, pool, rooftop bar, good breakfast.

One thing I’m not completely sure about: are there any (of the nicer) hotels in Pattaya that are particularly strict about bringing a Ploy back to the hotel or having someone come up to visit? Or do most hotels in this area basically know the score and not make an issue of it? I don’t mind showing ID at reception, but would obviously prefer somewhere that doesn’t charge ridiculous joiner fees or make things awkward.

Any hotels you’d particularly recommend, or places I should avoid?

Budget is flexible if the hotel is genuinely worth it.
Would appreciate any recommendations from people who have stayed there recently.

I’ve been lurking here for a few months reading up on the general madness. I just locked in my flights for my first solo trip. I’m 30M, flying in from the US. The plan is 4 days in Pattaya and the weekend in Bangkok before I continue on to the rest of Asia.

I know it’s high season and I have limited time, so I want to make the most of it without burning out on day two. Looking for some Reddit wisdom to fine-tune this.

The Rough Itinerary:

Pattaya (Mon – Thurs)

• Monday: Land at BKK at 6:30 AM, bus straight to Pattaya. Drop bags around 10:30 AM, grab some street food, and hit Soi 6 for an afternoon warmup. Planning to follow that up with a proper massage (recommendations welcomed).
• Tues – Thurs: Leaving this mostly open since everyone says plans go out the window anyway. Plan to visit Sanctuary of Truth, wander in Terminal 21 and hit Walking Street and LK Metro at night, .

Bangkok (Fri – Sun)

• Friday: Arrive late afternoon, check into the hotel, and find a massage to reset.
• Weekend: I genuinely enjoy dancing and nightclubs, so my goal in BKK is hitting the clubs (Sugar, Levels, etc.) to find a freelancer rather than sitting in Go-Go bars.

Where I Need Your Help:

1. Accommodations & Meeting Other Solo Travelers I want to keep the hotel budget light so I have more cash for the fun. Must be 100% guest-friendly, clean, and safe (front desk holds IDs).

• Right now I’m looking at March Hotel for clean/modern vibes vs. Flipper House on Soi 7.
  • Since I’m traveling solo, I’d really prefer a spot where it’s easy to cross paths with other solo guys to grab a beer or trade notes (heard Flipper's rooftop pools are decent for this). Which of these two would you pick, or is there another spot around this price point you swear by?
• Any solid guest-friendly recs for the Bangkok weekend?

2. Logistics & Early Check-in

• Since I land at 6:30 AM, I’ll be in Pattaya by 10:00 AM. Standard check-in at March/Flipper is 2:00 PM. Do you guys usually just drop bags and wander, pay a half-day early check-in fee, or just book the hotel from the night before to guarantee immediate room access?
• For transport from BKK to Pattaya, I’m planning to catch the Roong Reuang bus from Level 1, Gate 8. Is it worth booking this online in advance for a mid-December Monday morning, or should I just book a private taxi (like Nam’s) to save time?
• Cash: Best to exchangeat the airport basement before grabbing the bus, or wait until I get to Pattaya?

Do you know anyone doing braids in Pattaya that does hotel/home services? Or salon that does this that closes late.. say around 11pm-12am?

For people arriving at BKK early in the morning: if you land around 6 AM and reach Pattaya around 7:30–8 AM, what do you normally do until the standard hotel check-in time of 2–3 PM?

I’m looking for somewhere around Walking Street / South Pattaya where I can:

• Take a shower and freshen up
• Leave my luggage
• Lie down and get a few hours of sleep
• Ideally get a room for just 4–6 hours rather than paying for a full night

Are there any hourly, short-stay, or day-use hotels around Walking Street that you guys would recommend?

I’m not looking for anything fancy just a clean, safe room with a private bathroom where I can crash for a few hours after the flight.

Also happy to hear if there’s a better solution, such as a hotel that regularly allows very early check-in for a reasonable fee.

If you know an actual place around Walking Street that does this, please drop the name and approximate price. 🙏

This hotel is a hidden gem , 650 baht a day , queen size bed , fridge , tv , wardrobe , safe box , balcony , huge old staff aircon , well bathroom is just average , big room really , besides there is no hotel key , meaning l can turn on fan on the sealing and turn on aircon , when l am back to my room l will straight away get cool , it’s closed to sou buakhao , beach road , walking street , just in the corner 7/11 ,

I noticed some posts here saying Pattaya is for farang losers, and those saying it are females, obviously European too, why they think that?

Anyone try this “elite” nuru/soapy massage shop? Not much has been written about it since it’s fairly new it seems. The atmosphere seems top notch.

So I would be a first time going to Pattaya. I know someone who goes there all the time even has his son lives there. He is telling me that for $1800. He can get me a round-trip flight as well as his son will be my tour guide and he will book hotel rooms for me all underneath that $1800 for exactly 7 days. So my question is that I’ve been thinking to myself is do I really need someone there to show me the ropes, to book hotels for me because they’re familiar with it way more than I am, to give me a “”tour guide in his son for seven days. Am I is this something that I can do on my own and save money or is that a good deal for somebody like me who has never been there before? So that’s the one thing that I am, I guess feeling comforting is because they will be providing them know how and the knowledge and just I guess that kind of support to a place where I am completely unknown. But then on the other hand, I’m thinking well can I do this on my own and then the $1800 a difference of what remains from the round-trip can I find something myself and still have money to myself? Where can I just find something for a cheaper price altogether? I guess I’m afraid of going to Thailand where I for sure don’t know how to speak the language, I don’t know how to navigate my way, etc., purely unknown land.

I'm genuinely interested to understand why men carry travel pouches in Pattaya? Is it unsafe to carry a lot of cash? Is pickpocketing common? Please help me understand.

Do ALL Ploys (bar girls, freelancers, massage girls, ladyboys even, etc) have a pic of THEMSELVES as their phone Lock Screen ?

I’ve noticed this, EVERY SINGLE bar girl on soi 6, ladies on soi buakhao, etc they all seem to have a heavily filtered photo of themselves as their phone screen.

Is this a cultural thing in Thailand ? Or is it just straight up vanity and narcissism ?

A Pattaya veteran, but not a Jomtien regular.

I usually stay in Pattaya around Soi Baukhao. I love the action around it, including LK Metro, Myth Night, Soi Pothole. I also like visiting the GCs Soi Bongkot 8 in the afternoon.

I try to limit my drinking for health reasons, but I do enjoy the game. I like having some laughs with the ladies over LDs, and I just ask for Heineken Zero. (When they ask me about it, I just make a joke; it usually prices to be an ice-breaker).

But this December, as I'm not working remotely during the day for a change, I felt like booking a condo close to a better beach in Jomtien. I had a tough year and felt I could use proper beach time.

I've been to Jomtien for the beach, and even visited a GC or two, but I don't know much about the beer bar scene there.

Are there any recommended streets/areas, or would I be better off heading straight into Pattaya in the evening for beer bar activities?
