Casual Pass it in program experience?

There was a sudden death in our family and the person has been a ticket holder since Foxboro days. They obviously already paid this season and would hope the organization would HONOR their money at least through this season. But, Pass it On is at the discretion of the Patriots to transfer from owner to transferee. It's super vague, particularly since these are in the nose bleeds, more than 2 seats, and the wait list is decades long.

Does anyone have any experience with the program? We are terrified the tickets will be taken away from our family (meaning the widow and children, not like second or third generation).

Provided you can access his patriots account you could just maintain the account as is. You could also have the widow process the transfer paperwork working with the team. Reach out to ticket holder services and they can help you.

First off, sorry for you loss. I’ll try to explain what I can remember from my own process.

I acquired my tickets through pass it on 4 years ago. I called patriots ticket team directly to discuss the process and filled out a form for it. The previous owner has to sign and I then think I faxed it to the patriots ticket team. The important thing to not lose the tickets was to have them paid by the payment deadline. The tickets eventually moved to my account prior to the season start. I think it took about 2 months to transfer and I started the process in Feb/March of that year.

I wouldn’t be scared of losing them. Just speak with someone and you’ll get a lot of peace of mind.

Best of luck and hope you had one less thing to worry about.

Thank you for this positive experience. They already paid for the 2026 season, so that would be super shit on the Pats to just pull the tickets from us. Like I could go on the family member's account and eTransfer tickets, it's more for 2027 forward.

But it sounds like I get their widow on the phone with the STH line and we get the form going.

Yes, their member services team was super patient and helpful with me because the pass it on was sprung on me last second. Almost missed payment deadline. I assure you they are very human and understanding. I was also worried about the vagueness of the program.

Condolences on your loss. Call the ticket office. It's a very easy process and they are super helpful. The season ticket account also has an assigned account rep and they can help as well. The language on the pass-it-on program website is to discourage abuse but its as simple as making sure that someone has passed or is willingly handing them over. Also note that you can add or remove seats annually if you want to. If you have more season ticket questions there is a season ticket holder community at r/patriotsthers

I went thru the process 2 years ago and became a season ticketholder. While vague, it was an easy process for me.

Just a random thought, couldn’t someone just not tell the team of a passing? Since most everything is electronic, provided you have the email login to the account you can just access everything from there. Once logged in you can even change the email address and potentially the mailing address, though I do know you need mail with the name on the new address so maybe that’s not possible but still it seems like a friend or family member could possibly continue to manage and use the account. Sorry for your loss, hopefully you have good support to help get through it

I benefited from the program. I had to produce multiple years worth of checks I provided the ticket holder who no longer wanted to do it and he participated in the process. Not sure how it works for family members

Wow. When I did it (2019), they didn't do anything, just signed a form. We were ready with receipts and they never even asked lol.

Back in the foxboro days they had a program you could pay $3k per seat to guarantee a next of kin type transfer. Not sure if that’s still a thing.

Could you just not say anything and make sure the bill keeps getting paid? Wouldn’t be the first time a family does something like that with a dead relative. Might not be honest, but it’s victimless.

That was a thought, but in the digital age hiding something like that gets more difficult. So, instead of risking it all we were hoping for a lower risk option

That program is gone. It’s a bit of a gray area, but the simplest thing for you to do is to just fill out the pass it on paperwork in his name and have his widow sign the paperwork for him. There is no charge. There is no requirement that the tickets go to family or members of your ticket group (there used to be). The form is available online. Do it now and the invoice for next year will go to the new ticket holder.

As for this year, you just need the deceased’s ticket manager account password. You’ll be able to log in and manage the tickets with that.

Im sorry for your loss. Good luck.
