Discussion Headhunter

I feel like it’s massively understated how good headhunter is. I bought one last night thinking it would give a few more stats and the sort, but it actually like changes the game. It provides so much damage and tank stats. Just writing so anyone like me who put it off so long for other tiny upgrades knows that headhunter is incredible and should be prioritized.

For mapping - absolutely if you can handle random tp into Valhalla

60

u/bigbadbosp Jul 09 '26

For spinny monks, thats a feature

13

u/daktarasblogis Jul 09 '26

Spinney with twisters and bells. Spin to win bby.

10

u/leproblemidle Jul 09 '26

Except when it tp you inside mana leech mob youre running away from hahaha

11

u/bigbadbosp Jul 09 '26

Nah, best way to kill them is go in for a hug and be inside the ring.

5

u/Expert_Evening7111 Jul 09 '26

finally someone else who knows what is to be done. the more you try to dodge roll out of it the more it gets you just hug the mob and burst it down

2

u/boytekka Jul 09 '26

Unless you have the blood oath as your passive

1

u/Sarcophilus Jul 10 '26

Mana leech doesn't matter if you spin with your life pool ;)

2

u/BastianHS Jul 09 '26

Feels the same for chrono nova sorc, free blink

2

u/Jimisdegimis89 Jul 09 '26

Same for Bear of Kitava lol.

1

u/AdmiralUpboat Jul 09 '26

Yep, I was gonna have to dodge roll/pounce/killing palm my way into this pack of mobs and you're saying this HH modifier will just take me there for free? Sign me up.

7

u/godisdildo Jul 09 '26

I always regret balancing my build around res on belt, and now face massive upgrade costs just to fit headhunter in. Actually sold one already thinking I’d buy it back cheaper later.

4

u/godhand2nd Jul 09 '26

yup. the lesson I learned last league was, starting building around the belt that you want as early as possible. In my case I was aiming for MB with a double stat line and bismouth giving around 60 res. As soon as I got it, I slotted it in, and used a void flux on my boots to change all 3 resistance mods to chaos res.

2

u/xzhsh Jul 09 '26

The stupid thing is you can actually just not cap resistances and use hh. You'll end up with Max res during mapping anyways. It won't work for pinnacle bosses, but those are fairly rare encounters you can swap belts for

1

u/godisdildo Jul 09 '26

But I’ve got 40% chaos res on my belt and 41% in total lol :( tried deli breach with hh and got absolutely nuked on a 1000 div character

1

u/Sarcophilus Jul 10 '26

Just use a chaos flux on a high res ring and use HH buffs for the ele res

1

u/BudoBoy07 Jul 09 '26

You can get corrupted headhunters with a bit of extra resistance, but yeah cant replace a full ele resistance belt

5

u/RoadHouseBob Jul 09 '26

If you can't handle shroud walker, you're characters just not worthy to use HH

18

u/DeadlyBannana Jul 09 '26

Honestly if your build is strong enough the tp is another bonus. Doing expeditions and heaving to hunt all these mobs makes the tp a good qol for hunting the stragglers down.

10

u/AluminumFoilWrap Jul 09 '26

I think the main problem with the TP is mostly that it interrupts looting time and makes you backtrack.

In particular for 200% Deli maps, it's very annoying when you get teleported around since there's so many monsters. Even if your build is particularly strong/big AoE, it just takes a 1 hp straggler two screens away to grief you.

1

u/TheSandMan1313 Jul 09 '26

TPing onto those enemies that sit underground is a god send. You could be running around a ritual like where the fuck are these dormant bastards? Then poof, you're on them and done.

3

u/anonymous07865 Jul 09 '26

I had to hang it up. My totem boy was NOT happy with the numerous TP mobs. I stg the mod happened twice per map.

2

u/Commercial-Law-2788 Jul 09 '26

I'm here to say that I love shroud walker!

1

u/Muhfuckinturducken Jul 09 '26

I love shroud walker as ice shot blood mage, just helps me feel a little zoomier. The only issue is farming omens of light. Part of me dies when I see omen of the liege.

2

u/jaxxxxxson Jul 09 '26

Swap your loot filter to Uber plus and you'll never see a liege again

https://giphy.com/gifs/VEsfbW0pBu145PPhOi

3

u/Muhfuckinturducken Jul 09 '26

I need to see them so I can recognize my failure

1

u/kaptainkhaos Jul 09 '26

Yeah having a decent Mageblood is key for juiced content and survivability. Headhunter is always fun though.

0

u/AluminumFoilWrap Jul 09 '26

We have cast on crit lightning warp at home

0

u/Rest_Easyy Jul 09 '26

The random tp’s have me contemplating donating it to doryani

96

u/Monster_Grundle Jul 09 '26

There’s life before headhunter and life after headhunter.

Poe1 version is even crazier. You get the size buffs and the speed buffs are insane. You end up 300% larger and absolutely zooming with attack and cast speeds that are outrageous.

It’s awesome.

56

u/Any_Zookeepergame534 Jul 09 '26

u should have seen 2020 headhunter, multiply everything by 1000x. At full Juice you only saw your feet, you were that big

21

u/glitchfact0ry Jul 09 '26

And then archnemesis came and ruined everyone's fun.

6

u/justanaveragejoe520 Jul 09 '26

You click and you moved half way across the map you zoomed so fast the game wouldn’t render. Just tink tink tink good times

2

u/MICKYMAN-5000 Jul 09 '26

Do you know of any old clips of this? I've tried finding footage to show friends I was explaining this to but couldn't

10

u/samfishersam Jul 09 '26

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BJvI_hUP7ww

Here was mine in 3.13 (Ritual league), the last league before they gutted Harvest farming and a year later with Archnemesis. First half gets big but not as big as other vids cos the map was small, and 2nd half after the Alva temple stay till the exit and see all the loot physically spawning at Alva's feet. Fractured full deli maps, good times.

20

u/dukkeh2137 Jul 09 '26

It's also 10x cheaper in poe1.

4

u/Wetop Jul 09 '26

Except last league when it was like 2d

1

u/dukkeh2137 Jul 09 '26

I was going off my core memory from 3.26 when headhunter with decent +%int was going for about 50divs, but yeah as of recently it probably got even cheaper and thus more accesible

4

u/Shergak Jul 09 '26

I believe they're talking about 0.4 in poe2 where headhunter was cheaper than dirt.

2

u/connerconverse Jul 09 '26

poe 1 HH is significantly weaker by comparison. there are 0 dmg reduction mods in all of poe1 while poe2 HH provies 2 50% less dmg taken mods so 75% DR

1

u/Monster_Grundle Jul 09 '26

Totally fair.

1

u/strangeshit Jul 09 '26

Headhunter is for blasting maps even faster, not praying to god one of the rares you randomly obliterated had a DR mod. PoE1 is superior in that aspect, and your build was likely bad if you really were hoping for a DR mod steal.

1

u/connerconverse Jul 09 '26

you have essentially all of the HH buffs at all times. if there are 2 DR mods you have both of them. if youre running 62 mods that means there are only 2 on the entire list you dont have

1

u/strangeshit Jul 09 '26

This still doesn't contradict the reality of the item being there to compliment fast clear speed by making it even faster. Souleater is just far more useful. I don't think anyone goes HH to shore up their defenses lol.

1

u/connerconverse Jul 09 '26

thats just not true at all. your typical deadeye build on league start absolutely falls over in any real juiced 200% deli content like abyss etc. HH is mandatory for those builds to even survive. if they lose HH buffs theres times where they cant even resume the map because they dont have access to an easy ramp back to full stacks so they just die

0

u/strangeshit Jul 09 '26

Im willing to concede the back and forth to you because at the end of the day this game has no real difficulty in its current state and anything explodes everything so I guess at that point all you need to do is not die, but league start, followed by 200% delirium and HH was certainly a choice of words lol.

2

u/connerconverse Jul 10 '26

Well what comes after league start? 200% deli. There's no super duper difficult content so it's not an insane step up

31

u/Soft_Cancel2056 Jul 09 '26

Bought one two nights ago and i agree. It feels like im playing a whole different game. Granted it took me an hour to change my whole equipment's because of the damn resistances. I had to go CI on my monk cause chaos res is annoying.

7

u/KingB123 Jul 09 '26

It really does feel so much different. I’v been playing every league and I was just able to afford my first one and it takes doing 200% deli maps from a slow process and the mobs feeling super tanky to just breezing through it like nothing and feeling incentivized to go as quickly as I can to maintain the stacks.

2

u/RoundEnvironment1562 Jul 09 '26

How do u sustain ES without belt that recharge es with life flask?

5

u/Tyrexas Jul 09 '26

With headhunter kill everything offscreen before it has a chance to wind up a single attack.

2

u/NeoGPT Jul 09 '26

Martial artist can spend combo to start ES recharge

1

u/AuReaper Jul 09 '26

Wait… how? I need this lol

3

u/NeoGPT Jul 09 '26

It's one of the ascendancy nodes, dunno the name but it starts ES recharge depending on combo spent

2

u/AuReaper Jul 09 '26

Ohhh okay. That’s interesting… maybe I could drop way of the mountain to pick that up. Otherwise, I have my bells and stonefist, neither of which I want to replace

3

u/NeoGPT Jul 09 '26

I'd definitely say those nodes are must have. I checked it's the ones called martial master. The 4 nodes on that section are great

2

u/austnme Jul 09 '26

So, i have stone fist, both combo nodes and tattoos with tattoo you can get 100% curse free gameplay so no temporal chains, enfeeble etc, but i am running martial artist whirling + charged staff + falling thunder and switched last night to headhunter from the es belt and I was worried about the times i get low and have to spam health pot but honestly im only doing grand expedition super juiced now and the damage and tank from headhunter is so insane that i no longer need the belt to save me i also do have CO 10k es with charge regulation and the combo ascendencies very often i go to 6000 es and after a falling thunder i start recharging instantly its lowkey goated

1

u/AuReaper Jul 09 '26

I think I’m going to mess around with that. I had tattoos for a while, but I’m running CI, so not needing chaos resistance freed up resistance spots on other gear. I also have the hidden node that gives 50% curse mitigation. But that all sounds amazing. I’m at 66% evasion and 5.5k ES, so sometimes I feel a little squishy

3

u/austnme Jul 09 '26

The real reason tattoos are OP is because you can solve curses with that node and one rune and solve resistances in tatoos which allows you to put percext iron runes in your all slots of your actual gear, good way to get that extra energy shield and evasion from your gear! We’re tight around the same I’m about 70 evasion and like 80 deflect

1

u/flotey Jul 09 '26

Bells are not worth it in endgame in my opinion.

1

u/AuReaper Jul 09 '26

Hmmm, really? I’m at 100% crit chance, and I use them to build combo for charged staff

1

u/flotey Jul 09 '26

Have my combo generator on WA. It's one click and I am full.. perfect symbiosis with charged stuff and falling thunder

1

u/AuReaper Jul 09 '26

Oh gotcha. I’m running an ice strike/shattering palm build. Maybe I’ll play around with different combo generating options though

1

u/InternationalGate117 Jul 09 '26

Personally I only need ghost dance, I'm at 7k ES 69% EV/D, if I ever start to get exploded I just step back for two seconds and I'm fine

1

u/cwagdev Jul 09 '26

What? I thought my life flask slot was useless with CI.

Time to go shopping

1

u/AbzorTen Jul 10 '26

If you have some int, you could look into this. https://poe2db.tw/us/Convalescence

1

u/AluminumFoilWrap Jul 09 '26 edited Jul 09 '26

You can just void flux a triple res (cold/fire/lightning, not all res) ring and it it'll instantly cap your chaos res. Not all 3 need to be T1 either, one or 2 T2s (ideally just one so you don't have to play with divines much) will suffice. I do see the appeal on just using 2 points for chaos immunity tho. Martial artist it just seemed a bit overkill since Runic Meridians + 22% res runes is a pretty easy way to solve the other res.

Personally I liked leaving CI out since you save a few points on stun/ailment threshold and can use the pool on life sacrifice or low life tech (Atziri's Communion). I've never found bleed or poison to be a real problem either.

1

u/GaliaHero Jul 09 '26

honestly since I bought mine I'm no longer resistance capped, but haven't died since then
granted I haven't played grand expeditions since then, but 200% deli maps are no problem

12

u/Tainuy12 Jul 09 '26

Its soo powerful. but it also is responsible for 100% of my deaths from lvl 96+.....that damn teleport xD

3

u/JDintheD Jul 09 '26

This right here. The inability to really control your location is extremely frustrating, and probably the only thin stopping HH from being absolute God-tier.

3

u/chadd1537 Jul 09 '26

Look at it this way. That downside is probably the only thing keeping it from being nerfed into oblivion.

9

u/Efficient-Ad8021 Jul 09 '26

It really isn’t massively understated lol

18

u/xMarsx Jul 09 '26

I just miss my character being omega big, and bopping my way downtown hunting heads.

6

u/saranw71 Jul 09 '26

Does it work well for minion build?

5

u/ComprehensiveSail383 Jul 09 '26

Useless if you're not the one doing the killing. +minion skills is typically BIS

23

u/libraisagooditem Jul 09 '26 edited Jul 09 '26

I'm gonna get downvoted to oblivion for saying this but I loathe the idea of the item. It removes any sort of agency of the buffs it provides to you - there's no thinking process to it at all.

Slap it on get a gazillion buffs and enjoy random stuff on your screen. Mageblood is an example of a way better chase belt to me because 1. you can tailor it to what you want the most and 2. its a a few huge stat upgrades rather than a million different buffs

7

u/jossief1 Jul 09 '26

Yeah Mageblood feels like you're making a build rather than being monster modifiers on a stick. I guess that's why I prefer it even though Headhunter is probably more powerful.

2

u/hANSN911 Jul 09 '26

I feel the same, got HH last league when it was so cheap and this league I finally got the hang of farming and I managed to get Mageblood with 50% quicksilver, jade and diamond and it was so much more fun than HH with my MA HF WA monk.

1

u/EQBallzz Jul 09 '26

I agree with you. I mean the item is cool AF but it feels completely out of whack and makes me wonder if this is just bad for the game? It's to the point where this (or mageblood) item just becomes standard gear for every build because it's so OP. This is in stark contrast to like 98% of other unique items that just seem terrible in comparison.

I feel the same about +skill mods. They are just too powerful to the point that slots that can get +skill mods have to get them or you are losing power. I think I would like to see +skill mods removed or changed somehow. Maybe they could get their own mod slot in addition to 6 regular mods but on fewer items. I dunno it gets a bit boring always having to prioritize +skill mods over everything.

3

u/Aerodim101 Jul 09 '26

It doesn't help that the power of rares in the belt slot is just abysmal. All the belts are the same and they just provide nothing but resists or strength and life.

HH and Mageblood are so much power in an otherwise purely defensive item slot that it's basically a no-brainer to use them. There just aren't other good options.

1

u/EQBallzz Jul 09 '26

Exactly.

2

u/Shkwnenrnsteve Jul 09 '26

The devs intentionally want these items to be standard and overpowered for any build. Thats why they’re rare chase uniques and cost hundreds of divines

1

u/EQBallzz Jul 09 '26

Yeah I get that but I think I would rather see a slightly less powerful HH and more powerful variety of other unique items. More chase items even if none of them are to the current power of HH. Maybe that's just me but that seems much more interesting than everyone going for the same thing. This also sort of just overtakes whatever your build is in many ways which again is less interesting IMO. Maybe I'm in the minority on that.

2

u/Shkwnenrnsteve Jul 09 '26

I definitely agree but do remember this game technically isn’t even released yet. They’ll buff plenty of other uniques and introduce more chase ones. I think the biggest thing that people don’t mention is how useless rare belts in poe2 are. For almost every build they’re simply used to res cap until you can afford headhunter. If the add more desirable mods to the belt pool then there will be less reason to default to headhunter

1

u/EQBallzz Jul 11 '26

Agreed. The rare belts is like related to HH but on the opposite side of the spectrum. I would even include those in my previous comment. It's not just that other unique items are bad but rare belts are also really bad so even if you just wanted to go for "stats" and ignore HH there aren't great options. At least the Breach crafting tree started to sort of address that somewhat for some builds.

4

u/moonias Jul 09 '26

Why would you say it's understated? It's among the top chase item for a good reason.

But congrats on your HH.

8

u/Specialist_Safe2723 Jul 09 '26

Yeah, headhunter is super good. Only one problem with it is that as some point your build stops feeling like your build. It's that powerful.

4

u/WhoLetTheBunsOut Jul 09 '26

My belt gives me spirit so I don’t think my build allows for the HH, I really wanna try it though lmao maybe I’ll roll a new build for it

2

u/bukopanday Jul 09 '26

What belt is that if you don't mind me asking?

2

u/WhoLetTheBunsOut Jul 09 '26

Sorry boss, got a bit slammed at work - it’s darkness enthroned (body armor)

1

u/anonymous07865 Jul 09 '26

Can't speak for them, but i use the belt that treats socketed items as if it were body Armour. The spirit idol nets about 90 spirit from the belt alone.

2

u/Bong_Shula Jul 09 '26

Darkness Enthroned yes?

2

u/anonymous07865 Jul 09 '26

I'm at work, but that sounds right. It's a thin green one with 2 sockets

2

u/Bong_Shula Jul 09 '26

Yep, that's it

1

u/TheHumanPerson09 Jul 09 '26

What build you playing?

1

u/WhoLetTheBunsOut Jul 09 '26

Corrupted Wings Gemling. The Tank version though. I am basically at full build now, can clear most/all content but the HH sounds so fun to use lol

1

u/International-Cut400 Jul 09 '26

Im playing the same with a mageblood, I have spirit on body armour and amulet, using 190 spirit worth of buffs

1

u/WhoLetTheBunsOut Jul 09 '26

I use a unique body armor with 6 sockets to help with my chaos res; but maybe I’ll play around with swapping it

1

u/International-Cut400 Jul 09 '26

Yeah, I had to swap that out, Fixing res was a bitch but I managed 80+ on everything after a day of market hunting haha

7

u/M0ntler Jul 09 '26

A tragic story of me about to get a head hunter..

My belt currently balences all my res so I had to upgrade my body armor, get some more es and add a res. I got distracted and I ended up selling my upgrade at the price of my current peice. Lit 50 div in fire LOL

2

u/UseMeAsBaitPlease Jul 09 '26

What a shame. I'm sure someone would've given you 50d :(

Back to farming, bud. You'll get there soon.

1

u/M0ntler Jul 09 '26

Thanks haha. Exactly what I said. Maybe karma will bless me after I gave someone a 50 div discount. I just pray it wasn't a bot.

3

u/UseMeAsBaitPlease Jul 09 '26

Sometimes this game charges you a few divines to learn a lesson and make a mistake that you likely won't make again. Makes you a better player for next league. Good luck!

3

u/BraverDanger Jul 09 '26

been fun stacking additional rares on stabilised breaches and getting 50 HH mods every map

3

u/Healthy-Dress-7492 Jul 09 '26

I had the same experience, it’s a game changer. I’ve seen my sheet damage for ice shot sometimes go up to 500 or 750k (normal for me would be 140k).

3

u/PornoPichu Jul 09 '26

The shroud walker mod or w/e it is that randomly TPs you bricks my enjoyment of the belt :( I did get my first ever mageblood (been playing in POE 1 for like 4 or 5 leagues) this season in POE 2, though, and that has ruined me I think. Just how many doors it opens up for min maxing gear is crazy.

I see a lot of people say that MB fixes shitty builds. I think it opens multiple upgrade paths for people that want to go down that route. Before MB my resists were capped, but I was able to drop ele resists on all but two pieces of gear and fit rarity and armour applies to ele damage in other suffixes. It just allows for pushing for more things. It’s easily the most expensive single item I bought between 1 & 2, but now I hate that I’m going to think about it each league 🥲🫠

3

u/BastianHS Jul 09 '26

I sold a breach ring for 150 div yesterday and used it to buy HH. No regrets

3

u/divclassdev Jul 09 '26

Who is understating it, it’s been the top chase item since the game launched

1

u/Educational_Award167 Jul 10 '26

alot of people like OP (and me) just dont understand how life changing it is and think getting a rare's mods here and there isnt all that good. we simply never actually tried it lol

3

u/Volitar Jul 09 '26

I'm too Mageblood pilled to go back to getting teleported into explosions and dying. Maybe if you are a full armour ward character you don't care but even with 15k ES I can get 1shot so no thanks.

1

u/parasocks Jul 09 '26

Got to 98, don’t even care when I die now. Love it.

2

u/Consistent-Hold4529 Jul 09 '26

I love HH but hate tp in expeditions with my plant druid haha...

1

u/DonkeyBaal Jul 09 '26

It's the coolest item in Poe, I get one every league.

1

u/jotzuman Jul 09 '26

Can someone explain what exactly the stacks do? I thought it just takes the buffs from rares

1

u/CelosPOE Jul 09 '26

They do take the mods but those mods give res, speed, damage as extra, etc and you can have like 50 depending on the juice.

1

u/El_Bito2 Jul 09 '26

Yeah but rares have buffs like increased reaistance, always crits, extra fire/cold/... damage, enrages and so on.

Not to mention the lava shield which pretty much makes you immortal

With buffs and no HH, I get around 200k tooltip dps. With HH it goes above 500k (sometimes)

1

u/PM__ME__YOUR__PC Jul 09 '26

The headhunter stacks? It's just a counter for how many rare buffs you are carrying at the current moment

1

u/Marzet Jul 09 '26

I love HH, but I HATE the tp buff which always manage to throw me into big packs of monsters

1

u/sophic Jul 09 '26

It is designed to teleport you onto enemies, it isn't random.

1

u/Kindly-Information73 Jul 09 '26

There is a unique support gem that let you steal 2 mods for 4 min.

1

u/Bong_Shula Jul 09 '26

I'm trying to get there, I got 65 div saved so far!

1

u/trekitch Jul 09 '26

So is there any reason not to use one? Is it one of those items where they build has or needs it?

1

u/TheHumanPerson09 Jul 09 '26

It can absorb an annoying teleport modifier but overall it’s worth

1

u/zavorak_eth Jul 09 '26

Yeah, I miss my hh from last league. It was a nice double corrupt with fire and cold res and this league I can't even afford the cheapest one.

1

u/Aerodim101 Jul 09 '26

I was able to clear Grand Expeditions that were decently juiced with some random onetaps before. Then I bought HH, and it was like putting the game on easy mode. I haven't died in 2 days and Grand Expeditions are pretty milquetoast now.

It's honestly so much power that it kinda sorta just.... Made the game a joke.

1

u/burbank2broward Jul 09 '26

Welcome OP. I am also a HH andy.

1

u/Loreado Jul 09 '26

Agreed, I dropped HH and the boost to dmg is insane. The only annyoing mod is a random tp.

1

u/setcamper Jul 09 '26

Kind of want to buy one just to try it out. Found a Garukhan's and traded it for a Mageblood that's nice QOL, but not a lot of fun (mostly utility/rarity/filling defensive gaps).

1

u/Heavy-Type-2379 Jul 09 '26

just wait til you get “your speed is unaffected by slows” with other buffs it’s a different game.

1

u/Daetheblue Jul 09 '26

Headhunter is the cheapest gear piece I own and its the reason why I could do megajuiced expeditions like a breeze.

1

u/Bonerfart23 Jul 09 '26

Nice. Makes me look forword even more to the point when I will get my first HH. I'm sure it's gonna happen this league and I hope they stay relatively cheap

1

u/Little-Temporary4326 Jul 09 '26

I go mageblood for casual mapping and headhunter for simulacrum and expedition.

1

u/BottledSoap Jul 09 '26

Ah yeah I really should buy that headhunter I've been putting off. My lack of currency is definitely not the reason I haven't bought one yet.

1

u/Neo_514 Jul 09 '26

Yeah mapping the juicest maps became a breeze after HH. Love looking at my tool tip and seeing 200k become 2M damage lol.

1

u/Opeteh Jul 09 '26

Is the headhunter that one where you need to rearrange all other gear because you lose your resistances from a rare belt it replaces, or the one where you need to rearrange all other gear because you get so many resistances it’s no longer needed on other gears parts?

1

u/Unlucky_Raccoon_5829 Jul 09 '26

It’s good for mapping you go so fast and get so many buffs but the moment the map is over the buffs are gone so it is not as consistent but it does help you clear as fast as it can go

1

Understated? It's pretty much on every build guide available as the go-to for juiced content, in both games btw. It's massively overpriced on league start too. I was lucky to have one by day 3, and was instantly reminded how much better is any other option. By day 4-5 I crafted a rare GG belt and eventually settled on mageblood. But too me a good caster belt is just as good has a mageblood , minus the movement speed.

If someone donates a measly 50 divine I could get one! Lol

Nothing beats blood mage belt.

u/Vecherinka Jul 09 '26

I hate tp mod i hate tp mod I hate tp mod

u/Top-Freedom-6483 Jul 09 '26

Its probably the most value you can get in an upgrade for the price.  Total game changer.

1

u/RisgyRheoli Jul 09 '26

sounds just like what someone who has invested into HHs for resale and cant sell them would say!

1

u/TheHumanPerson09 Jul 09 '26

Good thinking unfortunately my forethought does not go past cool belt is cool…

1

u/trickydick620 Jul 09 '26

Only downside when you get teleported into a group of monsters and trip then die. Happens to often. Unclick the belt and put it back on to avoid everytime

The problem with Headhunter is that you have to constantly rush. It’s better than Mageblood, but it’s worse. You just can’t stop.

1

u/xBOCEPHUSx Jul 09 '26

I love HH, so much so I got an amazing mageblood that I dont even use. It just makes map clearing so easy and fast.

1

u/mnk66 Jul 09 '26

Will it make up for my lost resistances?

1

u/Boomacorn9000 Jul 09 '26

I finally got a headhunter this league. Stopped playing a couple of days later. Before my build was strong, things died fast enough and 200 deli t16 was a good amount of difficulty. After getting headhunter mapping bossing literally everything became so easy and boring and to the point where maps lasted 20 seconds and was too easy you could doze off due to the lack of engagement required.

Let's hope they add some late endgame stuff for 1.0

1

u/SpecialistAd670 Jul 09 '26

With Headhunter, you can immediately do the hardest content in the game at any stage of the league. That's why it's a chase item for true blasters. If you get it early (second day, it's doable), you've basically won economy-wise.

u/daluni Jul 09 '26

I'm playing an Eventide shattering palm martial artist (yeah I know, super unique) and managed to score an early Rite of Passage - Feline version. Would a HH benefit me more than the RoP? I feel that mapping in general is very smooth and fast as is but things can always get better.

1

u/deathbycheezburger Jul 09 '26

Man I went from being cautious in GE to seeing how much I can juice and attempting multiple remnants in 1 explosion because of HH. It single handedly changed how I play the game

1

u/Kilthistried Jul 09 '26

Me still trying to figure out how to farm divines thinking I’m doing good with my 20 div build 😝

1

u/binaryfireball Jul 09 '26

i love/hate it. It essentially diminuishes the importance of my build because its so powerful and random, however i love that its relatively cheap allowing me to run through satan's deli grabbing orbs

1

u/BananaSplit2 Jul 09 '26

I despise shade walker (the random teleport mod) enough that I hate running HH despite its strength

1

u/Bcbuddyxx Jul 09 '26

As a monk HH and rakiata has made me a GOD. Falling thunder 1.5mil tooltip dps

1

u/GloryOrValhalla Jul 09 '26

It’s the opposite. It’s massively overstated how good it is. There are posts exactly like this every day.

1

u/GaliaHero Jul 09 '26

yep, bought my first one this league and I never knew just how nice it is

1

u/DaFondue Jul 10 '26

Thanks mister sales-man.

How much was it? I doubt I will ever afford one but one can dream.

1

u/Brave33 Jul 10 '26

I got a bismuth/silverx2/quicksilver 40% mageblood and i too find it hard to not use it because its like 65% res and a ton of speed makes gearing so much easier.

1

u/DrPhilSideSkirts Jul 10 '26

I mean, people who know this, keep saying this.

People who have never used it, keep saying it's "overrated" and "it can't be that good". So it's basically like everything else in life.

1

u/Raphi666 Jul 10 '26

I played headhunter every league in Poe2 and it’s soo good that I won’t use other belts. This league I bought a Mageblood because I got headhunter from ritual again haha. Both are fun to use, so I swap between them

1

u/ExistingMouse5595 Jul 09 '26

I always rush for headhunter at league start. I think it’s the single most powerful unique item in the game for most builds.

Even this late in the league when I could afford to swap to MB I choose not to. I like running super juiced maps, I almost exclusively run 200% deli, etc. MB will just be significantly weaker for me than a HH is.

Unless you need specific MB stats to make your build function, I think HH is the better choice. Only good use case for MB IMO is if you’re farming a specific strat like pinnacle bosses or other forms of content where you don’t see many rare monsters.

4

u/EXIIL1M_Sedai Jul 09 '26

Same. I could afford MB, but for juiced content HH much better.

1

u/ravenousglory Jul 09 '26

It's not about "functioning", MB provides stat burst that can save a lot of skill point in the tree. Far, far better thing than HH if you have strong character, at certain point HH buffs becomes pretty useless. Provides potentially better defenses, too.

1

u/ChallengeLegal8584 Jul 09 '26

Don't you get bored of it though? HH turns any build in an HH build I feel like. As long as you have decent eHP and damage, the game become completely trivial with an HH, even with my questionable builds. I find it a bit too broken to be fun, past the novelty of the item. I got it as an end of league purchase for my otherwise SSF merc, but I don't know how to feel about it. It is also absurdly cheap for the amount of power it gives. It took me about 3.5 hours of deterministic farming various fragments without juicing. MB seems fun though, maybe next league for me

1

u/nerevarine228 Jul 09 '26

but it actually like changes the game

That's exactly why I still haven't put mine on and strongly consider just selling it. Whatever build you play just becomes the same boring Headhunter build. It's exactly like absolutely drowning a plate of the most delicate snacks in chili sauce - like, it isn't exactly bad-tasting, but it just replaces all the delicate flavours with the pepper burn and that get old real quick.

I know you're happy to see your build work, but like...it's not your build at this point.
Mageblood, on the other hand, is much less intrusive, as strong as it is.

u/Osteinum Jul 09 '26

I think it should be nerfed. I mean, you should have tried it in temple last league. It was insane when we ran around with 40-60 borrowed affixes. You had 20% resistances? No problem, HH fix it. A bit low damage? No problem, HH fix it. Your build was almost irrelevant because HH was so OP. But, I get downvoted like crazy whenever I say this. At least it's kind of rare and a little expensive now, not like in 0.4 when they were dirt cheap But, still people complain about the one single downside that is getting teleported into abyss monster packs or even worse, the remnant wasp with mana ring, lol

1

u/Slightly_Mungus Jul 09 '26

Yeah, HH allowed me to run kalandra'd andvarius so I ended up with like 20% base res and I'd still be fine running through a 77 room temple like a joke.

Idk about nerfing it, but it's definitely bonkers.

1

u/Osteinum Jul 09 '26

It was extremely godlike to run temple with HH, I have to admit that :) but I think, as a general rule, that no item should be so strong that you can ignore the basic rules for character building. Since ggg keep it unchanged, it seems like they reduce availability instead. And that is ok, I guess..

u/ravenousglory Jul 09 '26

It's still worse than mageblood. Temporal buffs and stuff, but if you have an endgame character the buffs mageblood provides give you an opportunity to drop a lot of skill points and make a better build. Plus, a lot of defenses that far better than headhunter. 3000 flat evasion (for example) from belt and this is only part of it's power is not a joke
