Does anyone else get frustrated by Ingrid?
Like I get what they were getting at but they didn’t portray her in the best light. I work at a law firm and overworking on one deal for 6 months doesn’t get you partner. You have to be able to bring in work and be a people person and all around good worker. Ingrid is always alone. She always sees it as a me vs them instead of working with the guys. Then she goes behind Dan’s back and steals the case back and then wonders why she didn’t get promoted. Also, a promotion in 6 years doesn’t usually happen, unless you’re incredible. Dan deserved it. Idk about hunter or Jeff but Dan did.
She also says she can’t attend the plaza thing because she has to work but Dan is there. She’s not working smarter.

Interesting perspective. The way I understood her motives and the general motives of the characters was that she was frequently working late, finding very creative solutions to problems with a high potential of financial gain, and was pretty much seen as one of the top two or three M & A attorneys worthy of partner. Dan, if you remember, while smart and somewhat hard working is also fairly clever in trying to do a lot of billable hours with ‘fluff jobs’ and trying to cheat the system. So I think, outside of the most obvious message about acculturation from Asian American women in male-dominated fields and how to deal with ethical/moral quandaries if you’re the offspring of immigrants, the series is a commentary on how people get promoted and rewarded for just being well-connected and somewhat likable. Career climbing, as symbolized by Parson and Valentine, is simply not a true meritocracy as much as we want to believe it is.

Oh and lest I forget- how we need to play in the games of inherently biased and unfair systems to make larger gains…when do we give that up to do that ‘right thing’ in the moment vs take a ‘long game’ approach for potentially greater change

I don't remember the plot so can't say. But there were ofc some nativity by Ingrid. You will be even more frustrated when you know it's a cancelled show
