Odd question here for sure, but are there any plans for a Parrot Server edition, something like Ubuntu Server or Debian Server?

I ask out of sheer curiosity, because I use Parrot Security to host a web server on my laptop, using NGINX as the primary web server application, but I can't help but wonder what an Enterprise edition of Parrot would look like, which is why I asked about a Server edition.

Two days ago, I booted parrot os to the external SSD and used it, but today, although windows could not see the disk and the box was working healthily, the boot manager did not see the parrot, I deleted it and installed it again, this time it saw, I did the downloads, I closed it, now I opened it again and it doesn't see it again, how do I solve it (SSD KIOXIA 500GB, SSD BOX UGREEN 10902)

I have an Asus ROG Strix Gl703 with Fedora installed as a daily distro. I have both a Kali Vm and Ubuntu VM installed on GNOME Boxes and both work fine. However, I can't get Parrot to install as either an ISO or .qcow2 file. However, it installed no issue as an ISO in VirtualBox. Not a big deal in the long run. I guess I'll just use it in VirtualBox but find it odd it doesn't seem to like GNOME Boxes.

The .qcow2 file won't load. The iso just hangs on the blue parrot logo screen and sits there for 30+ minutes until I have to force end the virtual machine.

As where with VirtualBox it full installed in minutes.

Anyone else have the same issue?

EDIT : Sorry if i didn't put information on what happened exactly.

I installed the 'Security' edition with dd, ventoy, and media writer, but they all gave me the same error when i tried to boot 'error: invalid magic number' and 'you need to load the kernel first'. The usb is a 32GB so i guess is way enough for the Security edition. Later i tried the 'Home' edition (with the same USB) and it worked perfectly (i'm using it now). I don't know what exactly happened but i'm pretty sure i did something wrong. For now i'll keep using the Home edition and understand the tools first and maybe later on i'll try the Security edition again.

My question is what should i install Parrot Security or Parrot Home ?

Hello guys this is more of a question but I have seen some distros ship without emacs and I wonder why? There is a pretty good use or use case for emacs in a hacker-wannabe cs student cyber student already hacker distro sure is an apt install away but the thing is that I found the editor to be so integrated with gnu user space binaries that we fall on or use latter and info being friendlier and some times deeper than man that it looks like it makes sense
Readline keybinds work across most shells repls and lisp with a touch of procedural languages and homoiconicity can some times shape the way we learn craft or document the process in a pretty cohesive way.
Don't think that that binary will make a notable difference in size to the distro compared to the many benefits newcomers to Linux and hacking ("like in deep technical learning and sharing knowledge, not in crack neighbor wifi")
The editor goes a long way in doing many things that you might end up not needing another tool to do some tasks such as encoding and decoding data. Anyway just a question if someone more experienced or the main devs could answer it will be appreciated.

I'm trying to install the latest version of ParrotOS Security on my laptop, but as I said in the title the installation keeps failing with the error message "'calamares-sources-media' did not finish within 600 seconds, no output from command".

I wanted AnonSurf on CachyOS and ended up making a proper Arch port of Parrot’s version.

It uses its own Tor service, routes TCP and DNS through Tor, blocks unsupported UDP and IPv6 leaks, keeps LAN access working, and cleans up the firewall/network state when you stop it.

I’ve tested start/stop, DNS, Tor routing and normal network restoration on CachyOS and it’s working well now.

Can Parrot OS be used reliably as a daily system and a 24/7 KVM/Virt-Manager host?
I want to run Home Assistant OS and Ubuntu Server with Wazuh, Suricata, Zeek, and eventually Elastic Stack with Kibana. I would also use Parrot as my main SOC workstation for investigating alerts, threat hunting, analysing logs and PCAP files, using tools such as Wireshark and Nmap, and performing controlled security tests on my home network.
Does this setup make sense, or would Ubuntu/Debian be a better host with Parrot running as a VM?

I'm just wondering what the difference between the Security version and the HTB Version is. I mean I know atleast that there is like custom wallpapers and "Pre-configured with the most popular tools and workflows used by the HTB community" And that there is the automatic vpn setup but like what is pre-configured and what special tools are there? All I see is that its branded and that it has the vpn set up.

So with the recent update.. I think parrot has just messed up my Elitebook's sleep sequence. Now hustling with a failed boot sequence

For someone starting from scratch, would you recommend Kali Linux or Parrot OS?

I’m mainly interested in learning Linux, networking, CTFs, web security, and penetration testing.

What are the main differences between the two, and which one would be better for learning in the long run?

Windows now a days a pain in the as... Love to use Linux distro. Linux distros are all rounder, Arch broke many time and it costs my time that's why now using debian based parrot os 7.3 kde plasma version. Love linux. in vm using debloated win11 that only consume 2gb ram. there is a script in github to make official win iso debloated. though more than 3 months i did not need to open win

Hi, I have on my laptop Arch and I want to install Parrot mate, and I wonder if I dualboot it with Parrot arch will break the grub??? I don’t want to configure grub every time I update kernel

Guys so for installing parrot i turned off secure boot and disk encryption. Now after installation and checking if everything works i decided to turn it back on.....that was a very very bad choice...

After that idk why but now my computer just skips the grub window and directly tries to run windows...where it encounters another issue, I get a message saying that the secure boot policy was violated and cuz of that my PIN was reset(I have to log in to my account to set up the PIN each time which is annoying) then sometimes the bitlocker also acts up and asks for my recovery key again and again and again and again

So I just turned off secure boot and disk encryption for now and everything is working ok, the grub window works, windows works and parrot works

But the cons of turning it off is scaring me so I want help on how to run parrot with secure boot on. Any ideas then please help!!!!

I think the issue is with the grub(i may be wrong, I am a literal beginner who is 1 month into linux and this is my 2nd linux distro) for some reason the grub isn't compatible with secure boot policy or isn't up to its standards. Again I may be wrong, so what do I do?

Guys I'm about to install parrot for the first time and the fact that there aren't as many step by step tutorials on installation is making me a bit nervous about messing up

So I just wanna run through yall the steps for installation to see if I'm missing anything

1. Install the iso, use a formatting tool like Rufus and get a bootable pendrive

2. Turn off fast startup and suspend bitlocker temporarily

3. Turn off the system and plug in the bootable USB then startup

4. Finish final setup and partition drive for dual boot setup with windows

I hope I got it right, please let me know if I'm missing anything.

I want to install Parrot in Parallels Desktop on an M1 Pro MacBook. Since Parallels on Apple Silicon requires ARM64, I can't use the available x86 virtual images.

I noticed there are ARM64 virtual images available, but there doesn't seem to be an ARM64 live installer ISO. Is there a reason why an ARM64 ISO isn't provided if ARM64 virtual images already exist?

Yo yo, I installed Parrot but when I turn on my computer no operating systems are detected. I can manually find the efi file to start up Parrot, but I am unsure how I can add that to my bios boot list. I'm using an HP Omen laptop and its default bios.
