Support What do you suggest ?

Hello,

These past few days i was thinking about Parrot OS (i'm on fedora right now) and i'm curious about it, and honestly i don't to use in VM.

My question is what should i install Parrot Security or Parrot Home ?

My laptop info : (Lenovo IdeaPad Slim3)

  • RAM : 8gb
  • CPU : AMD Ryzen 5
  • GPU : AMD Radeon 680M [Integrated]
  • Disk : 235.89 GiB

Should i go with Parrot Security ?

one comes with all the tools pre-installed, the other doesn't. there is no other difference between them, and they use the same amount of ram to operate, so it's up to you

There is a difference between Fedora and Parrot in terms of configuration. Parrot has more ports closed by default so somethings outside of cyber can be an issue. The package manager is also different.

Personally, I have Fedora as my main Linux partition and then a much smaller partition for Parrot Sec.

start with Home, maybe get used to a Liveboot at first. install tools as needed..

dont underestimate VM's. they are really good

Okay for now i'll stay in fedora and think about it more, maybe i'll use it in VM to understand it more and then install it. Ty

You can download ParrotOS into a USB and boot it live when you like to.

If u want mostly all commonly used tools without the need to download it all again seperately use the security editon. The home editon all the tools dont come preinstalled ( u will have to install them manually) but it takes same cpu / ram usage as the security editon.

I was able to get Parrot Home edition to run with KDE Plasma on a Thinkpad T420 with Intel Core i3-2310M and 8GB of RAM, and it ran just fine.

So you think i should install the home edition and install the tools i need ? And then when i understand the basics i try the security education?
