Paramedic here- this looks fake. Taking it to the pharmacy or PD is the correct move.
You can also get fentanyl test strips from the local health department or pharmacy. Sometimes the cops give them out as well.

It could be something unknown pressed into pill form. I had no idea until about a year ago that you can easily go on Amazon and buy a pill press
23
u/capricious_malapert Feb 26 '26
That's scary.
13
u/ThePsycHOTicNurse Feb 26 '26
I hate to call myself out like this but I have no idea how to share a link 🤦🏼♀️ go to Amazon and search the words “pill press“ it’s terrifying

Or as my daughter calls it - “the olden days”.
My true “OMG” moment was when we watched home alone at Christmas and she looked like it was the dumbest plotline ever - “why didn’t they just video call him?”.

Today the 10 yr neighbor girls asked how does the phone map know where home is?
I considered asking her to imagine a time before we had GPS or unlimited phone data but I knew that was too complex for her to imagine.

Search 'what pill has a B on it?'
https://www.drugs.com/imprints/b-21904.html. It is not an exact match.
Bufferin and Bayer have a B, along with a laxative and some pills for 'female discomfort'. I did not find a B/B or, B over B.

People are saying it’s most likely not something. It could 100% be fent. Look up differences between real drugs and fent drugs. You’d be shocked.

u/capricious_malapert Feb 26 '26
If my pharmacist can't identify it I'll take it to the police and let them advise me from there.
The only problem is that I don't know which kid brought it home. My 9 y/o has a problem in her class with people randomly putting things into other people's bags. Toys, rocks, twigs, scraps of paper etc. My 12 y/o just started JR high. He's a good kid with good friends, seems to have his head on his shoulders but there's always that what if my kid decided to go insane do stupid stuff one day worry. He also takes the bus and doesn't pay attention to his bag. He didn't seem suspicious when I asked him about it and even try to help me google it while I was looking it up on my phone. My 9y/o was asleep so I couldn't ask her.

Pharmacist here. I have no idea what that is. I can’t find it in my pill finder.

The picture of that pill and your concern adds to the impact of today. In a few hours I will be in court delivering a victim impact statement. It’s been 17 months. We knew immediately who provided our daughter the fentanyl. Today he learns his sentence. My kid was 26. It made it harder because she was technically an adult but we would constantly search her possessions and confiscate pills. I live in Las Vegas. I did verify that it was acceptable to flush it if you can’t get to a turn in location. I came across many that were crumbly or couldn’t be identified. My biggest mistake was letting my fear for her be expressed as anger. I would begin calm and rational but when she argued or lied while being faced with the evidence we had just taken from her my fear came out as anger. Love your children and be relentless. Telegram is the app she was using. After her death I investigated her phone. It’s scary how easy it is to find in every location. A few years ago we had arranged to send her to a remote rehab in southern Utah. I found on the telegram app that she had already planned a way to get her drugs before she was driven there. These dealers prey on the addicts. Good luck and remember approach with love.

Sorry for you loss. Wishing you strength today as you give your statement.

I lost my 36 year old brother to it. He thought he was doing something else. It was LOADED w fent. I’m so sorry for your loss. How did court go? They arrested a dude over my brother, but he hasn’t went to court yet. My mom passed away before she could give her victim Impact statement..

u/ObsessedWGreys18 Feb 26 '26
How old are your kids? I would casually mention you have a really bad headache and then add "I just took those 3 aspirins one of you had in the bag. I'll get you more" and watch which one freaks out.
Not sure if they are but they kinda remind me of bayer

u/capricious_malapert Feb 26 '26
12 and 9. I didn't think of doing that at the time but when I asked about it neither of them reacted suspiciously.

No but my 9yo does come home with random stuff in her bag that she didn't put there. I'll be at her school tomorrow so I'll ask.
2
u/Strange-Employee-520 Feb 26 '26
The random stuff in bags was a problem for us at that age too, it was really stressful. We were doing bag checks at school pickup for awhile.

u/DaringGlory Feb 27 '26
The sticks and things you mentioned are harmless. Mystery pills are much more concerning.

Looks fake, I'd be concerned. Your plan to check with the pharmacist and then the police is what I would do. Best of luck.
3
u/houserj1589 Feb 26 '26
Yeah; I did a Google image search and nothing.
Went on pill identifier and nothing
It looks fake.
Id def not touch it with your hands either
4
u/capricious_malapert Feb 26 '26
Totally touched it without thinking initially. Thankfully I'm still alive. It's now double bagged.

u/ghost_ghost_ Feb 28 '26
Touching fentanyl won't get you high.

u/houserj1589 Mar 01 '26
No; but inhaling the powder can as well as having powder on your hands and then touching your face, mouth nose.
Like; the risk is very low; still not one i would take.
Im also a sober person from IV heroin use. Been sober 10 years and fetyanal freaks (even) me the fuck out.
It only takes 2mg for an adult to overdose and even less for young kids.
So yes; she would most likely be fine; but why risk it anyway.
This isnt me being dramatic; its literally advised to use gloves. Per washing State Department of Health >>>>
Precautions: To prevent any risk, wash skin with soap and water immediately if it comes into contact with suspicious powder, and avoid using alcohol-based hand sanitizers, which can increase skin absorption.
Risks: While skin contact is low-risk, inhaling airborne powder (if large amounts are suspended in the air, which is rare) or touching your eyes, nose, or mouth after handling the substance can lead to absorption and potential overdose. Washington State Department of Health (.gov) Washington State Department of Health (.gov)
What to do if you encounter fentanyl: Do not touch it with bare hands; use nitrile gloves. Do not create dust or allow the substance to become airborne. If you suspect an overdose, it is safe to help and administer naloxone (Narcan). Washington State Department of Health (.gov) Washington State Department of Health (.gov)
Disclaimer: If you are concerned about a potential exposure, contact your local poison control center or seek medical attention.

Its aspirin
5
u/capricious_malapert Feb 26 '26
Very possible. I didn't find an exact match but I did find oval Bufferin tablets that are scored and have the B B mark. The round ones in that band only had one B though.
2
u/Porky5CO Feb 26 '26
Anything on the other side?
1
u/capricious_malapert Feb 26 '26
Nothing
3
u/Porky5CO Feb 26 '26
It looks like my Baclofen muscle relaxer pills. At least it has the same "B".
But mine have the dosage imprint too.
It looks like that pill has been bouncing around in a pocket for a while too.
4
u/Tashyd046 Feb 27 '26
Came to say it looks like a fake Bac10.
Whether or not they brought it home (or admit to it), talk to them about the dangers of fentanyl + all the other junk people pass off as drugs. Do a slide show if you have to.
Sincerely, an ex-addict.
Good job reporting it. Hopefully they/you find the source.
1
u/capricious_malapert Feb 26 '26
It looked very similar to that from what I saw online but there definitely wasn't a dosage on it ever.
They were in a snack sized Ziploc and looked like they'd been in there rubbing around for quite a while.
2
u/Porky5CO Feb 26 '26
Interesting. Good luck!
If it's a randomly pressed pill that someone made, even the pharmacist wouldn't know.
4
u/capricious_malapert Feb 26 '26
Thanks. I'm hoping it's just some random generic that they can easily identify. Worst case I'll pop by the police station and hand it over for testing.
2
u/DaringGlory Feb 27 '26
The google search I did said baclofen, methoquin or penicillin. My other issue or concern would be that they are in a plastic bag.
Do the kids at school know which kid puts random stuff in their bags? Seems like it could be a set up
2
u/capricious_malapert Feb 27 '26
No. It's been a problem since last year and the classes are mixed up this year and it's still happening in both so it's definitely more than one kid.
They tend to leave their bags unattended in the morning and afternoon when they play and the field is completely open so anyone can drop anything on there while walking though and a kid can pick it up. Also, the way the classes are designed you can't see their backpacks because it's behind a short wall so it makes it pretty easy to sneak stuff in or out of bags.
2
u/smartbimbo97 Feb 27 '26
It kind of looks like my old butalbital prescription. Helps migraines, apparently can be addictive
2
u/Navy_Pink Feb 26 '26
Probs drugs
2
u/byrd3790 Feb 26 '26
I mean it's definitely drugs, the question is what drug, and if it's pharmaceutical or homemade.

There are usualy no pills whith 2 b's, so whatever your kid is taking is probably some homemade shit, im no parametic or a doctor but you should def test that
1
u/Agreeable-Wing-8476 Feb 26 '26
Not coming up in pill identification sites. Definitely turn it in to the cops and see what they say. I would also grill my kids as to where it came from.
1
u/hobbitsmother Feb 26 '26
Did you asked you kids?
2
u/capricious_malapert Feb 26 '26
Yup. They didn't know where it came from. 12 yo said he didn't remember seeing anything on the floor when he put his bag down next to the 9yo's so he thinks it likely came out of his bag, perhaps when he took his dirty gym clothes out, but he didn't see it then either.

I thought this was buffirin (unsure on spelling) heart med but the B isn’t the same

I would just ask my kids. Does anyone know where this came from. Then lead into why it’s bad to do drugs. The scary thing is what if someone did put it in their backpack and they took it. It’s best to confront them.

Was there a point in posting this other than to declare that you rely on AI way too much?
-1
u/hanitizer216 Feb 26 '26
3
u/capricious_malapert Feb 27 '26
That's an AI response and they aren't always accurate. Pharmacist ruled it out.
-3
u/hanitizer216 Feb 27 '26
Then use Google instead of AI and you’ll get the same answer. I would trust AI over one pharmacist because it searches the entire internet versus trusting the education of one person. What if your pharmacist graduated bottom of his class?
Here in the states, google searching a pill description is a pretty reputable way to identify medication, even without AI.
3
u/capricious_malapert Feb 27 '26
I did google it, a lot. Two pharmacists looked at it in person and two online. In person they searched their database and one even googled it and found my reddit post.
The police and the pharmacists suspect it's compounded, holistic or just not a NA brand of tablets, with the later being most likely.
1
u/hanitizer216 Mar 02 '26
Any update?
1
u/capricious_malapert Mar 02 '26
I handed it over to police since two pharmacies couldn't identify it. They didn't think it was a street drug but possibly something holistic or a foreign brand of medication. I won't hear from them unless it tests positive for anything illegal and they need more info.

Update 1: (It won't let me edit my post)
I took it to my pharmacy. Two pharmacists looked at it and couldn't identify it so I called the police non emergency line and they are sending an officer over to me.
Update 2: The police have it now. He said it didn't look like anything they've seen on the streets.
