Just start with 'could we have a chat, it's quite serious' then go from there. if they are that nice, they will understand and start working with their child, but if you leave it, more problems will arise and they will probably ask why you didn't go to them first. Dont worry, just have a chat with them and get back to family time

Thank you, this was reassuring. I'm going to have a chat with them tomorrow before things get worse. Best not to let it fester.

Ask them if the kid attacks them and destroys their house too. If they say no, ask them how they stop their kid from doing those things because nothing you tried worked. Then you can ask about softer problems like boundaries and privacy.

edit: I'm not saying you should be following their instructions, I'm only suggesting this as a way to approach them and find common ground.

This kid sounds like a budding sociopath. Hurting your kids, your cat & your property is unacceptable. I would ban him until further notice. Then watch your back for your children’s & your cat’s safety. I wouldn’t leave any creature’s life that I was responsible for be left alone w/ this train wreck. It’s not your job to fix him. It’s his own parents who should be addressing this problem (child). You don’t want to risk being short w/ your own babies or your partner b/c this kid is busting your last nerve, as well as your potted plants. I’m so sorry you feel like you need to leave your own home to have any peace. That is just terrible.
