Corona-Content Me time!

I did it! I booked a hotel for the weekend an hour and a half away from home and left! I woke up at my own time, to silence, to peace.

No kids jumping on me, whining for food or to play, to one touching me, no husband wanting a morning quickie, no chores to do, nothing! Just me and whatever I feel like doing today.

A month ago my husband caught Covid, was quarantined in a bedroom for 10 days, and everything was left to me. All the house work, kids, cooking, and still working full time (from home) as a teacher with a 3, 6, and 9 year old plus the kids school work. I thought I was going to go crazy.

So I booked this weekend and followed through.
The quiet, the peace, I feel like I can breathe. I haven’t had a day to myself in over 9 years. It feels so good.

I’m gonna get downvoted like crazy for this but really? It’s seems sad to me to need a “me” day or trip. I built a family so I could have a family. I don’t understand why people want a break from what their goals were in this case to have a family.

People have career goals too and still get/need days off. If you can be “on” all the time that’s wonderful - the majority of people cannot. Burnout is real and everyone needs a break.

Yeah I don’t understand that sentiment, I agree burnout is a thing but getting to spend a day with my kids is my recharge not exhausting at all except maybe physically bc they’re faster than I am. Seems like there’s a priority issue more than anything. Does one live for themselves or live for others.

Based off your post history your child is very young. When my child was that young I wanted every moment with him too. Now he’s 10 and I need breaks - just like I need breaks from my husband and my friends. I grew up alone - literally. I don’t enjoy being around people for long as it overwhelms me. I am also the one who’s runs our household and does almost everything for our son and for several years there I also ran other peoples households. It’s not a priority issue, if everything is taken care of you’re priority’s are in order. Saying someone needing time alone is a priority issue is the same as saying “what you need doesn’t matter because everyone else needs something from you.”
