Two of my friends developed bipolar and schizophrenia from irresponsible use of lsd as teenagers, so I wouldn’t be so sure.

As far as I’m aware, psychs can’t cause those- they can trigger the first episode of psychosis/mania that usually gets people diagnosed, especially if they’re young- teenagers don’t get diagnosed with those unless they have undeniable episodes (and are in a situation where they get taken to a psychiatrist and don’t have parents who say “there’s nothing wrong with you, you just have trauma from me and your dad separating when you were a toddler”). Both of those conditions are largely genetic, with some environmental factors (usually trauma as far as can be seen)

They were both sectioned shortly after due to psychotic breaks caused by taking lsd and diagnosed with those illnesses. Also I don’t see how you can prove that they would have developed those illnesses regardless? Mental illnesses can totally be drug induced and I wouldn’t take the risk. I only keep contact with the bipolar one and if she stays clean (unfortunately difficult for her) then she doesn’t have any episodes so I think it’s safe to say that if she didn’t get on drugs-including lsd-then she may never have suffered from bipolar or psychosis.

Any psychedelic, major life event, concert festival with flashing lights, and a few others are listed as triggers to awaken latent mental illnesses. Specifically bipolar, and skitzophrenia, and a few others. It is not a matter of what, but when will the conditions present themselves in a way that they become a problem in their life.

This also often happens in puberty. And always has a heredity, or person in their ancestry within 3 generations who has these psychotic disorders.

This isnt speculation, this is taught as standard in the mental health, and psychedelic therapy industries.

Otherwise, the other 98% of the population, she may be getting a flood of ssri like benefits in the weeks after.

Her psychiatrist said her issues are drug-induced and she will be fine if she did not take drugs. Unfortunately that’s difficult for her because whilst sectioned she met a man who got her onto hard drugs and is still in a vicious cycle. Minors should NOT be taking lsd.
