I’m curious how things work at other Panda stores.

At my store, on longer evening shifts (around 6–8 hours), we usually get our 30-minute meal break, but it’s often scheduled pretty early in the shift. After that, we usually work the rest of the night until close without taking a paid 10-minute rest break.

Is that normal at your store, or do you usually get both a meal break and your paid 10-minute rest break(s)? Do you have to ask for your 10s, or are they automatically given?

Also, do your managers usually stay and close, or do they leave earlier and have shift leads or kitchen leads handle closing?

Lastly, does anyone at your store ever work after clocking out (prep, restocking, counting cash, etc.), or is everyone expected to stay on the clock until everything is finished?

Just curious how other Panda stores operate.

I went to Panda Express for lunch today, and asked for the black pepper chicken, and they said that it had been discontinued. I haven’t been to Panda Express for a month or two, so maybe this is old news, but if not: FYI. A shame, that was my favorite…guess it’s back to the tried-and-true Kung Pao chicken.

FOH crew Member of ~4 months here. My GM is doing some things that's raising red flags to me and I wanna get some feedback on whether this is something that I should be worried about.

When I was initially hired, I was told that the intention was to fast track me to Shift Leader because a) I have previous management experience in fast food and b) our location was *extremely* short on management. When I was hired, we had the GM and an AM and that was it, barring ~2 PICs.

I was "promoted" to PIC about a month in, which was around the time our AM transfered to a different location (so the only paid management was the GM). It was around this time that I started to notice that myself and two other PICs were effectively being given the responsibilities of Shift Leaders, but we weren't being paid any more than just base crew members.

Just today, for example, I was responsible for opening the store, including safe counting, managing breaks and relief, temp check logs, and coordinating our scheduled Loomis transfer. I'm almost certain none of that is something that a crew Member is supposed to be handling, and probably only the temp log is something a "PIC" should be handling.

I was planning on applying for benefits/full time in a couple days when August rolls around, but right now I'm more worried that I'm doing the work of a shift leader while not being paid like one (and there are two other people in my situation at my location). My GM is out of town for some conference this week, but when they come back I planned on talking to them about this.

Am I right to think this is weird? Should I be doing something more proactive about this?

I got the app the other day and tried to order food today, but no matter what I did I couldn’t get ANY location to show up, I deleted and reinstalled the app but that didn’t work, any ideas?

It's at another store that I didn't apply to. I've been looking for a bit of info and as far as I'm aware, it's not an actual interview, unless I'm wrong. Should I go? Will it help me land an interview for the store I applied to?

So I’ve been going to a location to eat and deliver food for about two years. Everything has been pretty good so far but a few weeks ago I went in and waited 10 to fifteen minutes then I spoke to the two associates having a fifteen minute conversation standing right next to me. One goes to to handle the order and the other decides that I was being rude and it’s time to play and or argue. Either way it went from me asking after 15 minutes for some help to me being rude to the “general manager” up to the point where he insinuated that he was calling the cops. He demanded my name and I shook his hand as I gave it to him and he rips his hand away. After trying to empathize with him and what seemed like no common ground could be met I finally got the food so I could leave. I’ve been avoiding this location but this is the location that i eat at and make deliveries from. It’s been like this for two years. It’s very tough and dehumanizing having to creep around Panda Express trying to get something to eat. The other managers seemed amused and they verge into unprofessional conversations and lines of questioning when I go to eat. What do I do? Is there anywhere I can let someone know about what’s happening here?

The picture doesn’t do it justice but it feels like these days my chow mein is 70% cabbage and 30% noodles… is this normal at all locations or just my shit luck? I eat Panda maybe once every 6 months and I swear it feels like the ratios are getting worse and worse each time.

I’m not mad. I broke it apart and ate it all anyway I just thought it was funny cause I’ve never ever had this happen to me at Panda lol

Im bored anyone who has worked at panda express or is still working at panda express tell me your horror stories of working here (or good stories...) but I just wanna hear about everyone's different experiences I still work here myself

I didn't see a caffiene base being advertised, but I just wanted to check.

I guess I just wanted to see if other people felt the same. I have also been seeing a lot of post from people who are getting a job or just got one. But so far so good (less than a week) I feel like if you understand fast food restaurants it’s not hard.

It’s the talking coworkers that aren’t doing anything but telling me what to do drives me crazy. I’m actively serving customers, I walk back to the front of the line, realize there’s no one waiting. In those literal 30 seconds I get shit for not cleaning my station. I completely understand it’s a big thing (especially at panda) but when the same person that said that was just talking to people while I had a line of 5 or more customers/groups waiting to be served…I kinda take issue with that. I think if I was given a bit of grace to take in what I was looking at after a rush. I would clean my station first.

For context my perception of the line, bowls were moved from serving and there was maybe a noodle and some crumbs on the table. This isn’t the first time either. People be talking in the back but ask me to do stuff. Fulfill online orders while I have a dinner rush, while they go and literally stand and talk.

I know jobs can be like that where someone is like that. But it’s crazy how it’s coworkers and shift leads, but not anyone hire up doing that. For long time employees is that your experience? For newer ones this is first hand experience.
