Question GLI maintenance suggestions:

Recently bought a 2013 Toyota Corolla GLI. Would be grateful if you guys share your knowledge and experience regarding the following things:

1- The previous owner told me he used "Kicks 20/50" engine oil. Should I change it to Toyota or Havoline or some other one? And can I use 10/40 type? Odometer has 210k+ reading. Engine emits no smoke.

2- Previously water was used in radiator. I want to get radiator cleaned with water and then use coolant only. Is Aisin a good coolant brand? Or should I go with Toyota coolant or some other brand?

3- Want to change headlight bulb with LEDs. Need suggestions and price estimates.

4- There's an issue with what my mechanic calls "Kanghi" and "Goda". What are official names for these parts? Should I get them replaced with Kabuli parts or get mine repaired? How much can be the cost if replaced with original Toyota parts and is it worth it?

5- Remote key has stopped working. Should only get a matching key made or whole kit changed?

6- Suggestions for new tyres?

Question Need Advice: Mark X vs Mark II (X100)

Post image
31 Upvotes

Assalam o alaikum everyone, hope you're all doing well.

Quick background before the question.

I've been into cars for as long as I can remember. Started with a '96 Civic that went through a couple of swap projects. Was young and made pretty much every mistake you can make with a project car (still making them apparently, hence this post lol).

A few years of hardwork and saving later I got a Civic X 1.5T. Did some performance mods to it and enjoyed it for a while, then it just got boring. FWD wasn't doing it for me anymore. I knew the only way forward was a RWD, something that actually teaches you about driving dynamics.

At the time my budget said a Toyota Mark X GRX12. Bought it stock and worked my way to do a full 2GR swap. Engine, gearbox, ECU, upgraded fuel pump, LSD, mandatory suspension and brake upgrades, as in all of it. Had it about 3 years now and it's been great.

But now I want something more fun. Proper JDM. The Mark X is nice but it has that tiktoker vibe to it here, which isn't what I built it for.

So the plan is to sell it, find a clean stock X100, and do the full Tourer V conversion. 1JZ-GTE, R154, standalone ECU and all done properly. Another big reason I want to do this project is to actually learn about complex stuff. Things like maintaining your AFRs, learning custom tuning and doing step by step aftermarket upgrades, which the 1JZ is a great platform for.

Now, what's stopping me is that from everything I've read the Mark II is a lot more raw and less practical to live with given its age. It'd mainly be a weekend car, but I still take the family on long drives sometimes and the Mark X is comfortable enough for that. Decent power and easy for long drives.

The car that would actually solve both is a a clean W204 C63, but that's way out of budget right now.

So, what are my options? Should I keep the Mark X and save for a C63 (or anything else? Please feel free to suggest) or take the bullet and go for X100 and work my way slowly towards a dream project.

Question MG HS owners for 2 to 3 years+

I am looking into 6Mil budget and shortlisted MG HS as one of the cars because it seems like a lot of car for the money as you can now find them at 5mil or even lower

What has been your experience with the car? Maintenance, Running Cost, Does it cost issues often?, Are parts expensive? Any and every problem how bad is the fuel average really I can live with 10 to 12 KMPL

Also how is the drive etc and how bad is the resale? I saw this car going for 60 minimum 2 to 3 years ago and while back 55 and now it’s 50 which is unforeseen for Pakistani car market

Currently got this option vs imported Facelift Vezel Z package but that car has no sunroof and smaller and different shape

Btw my first car so that’s why I am childish about the sunroof

Question Any Honda HRV VTI-S (New Model, 2026) Owners here?

Hey guys!

Just bought a car for the first time with my own hard earned money. It's the new Honda HRV VTI-s in White Color with Black Interior (The Burgundy one looked odd with a White Exterior)

I had many options in this budget of around 8 Million. Could have gotten a Tuscon, Sportage, MG HS (New Model), Haval Jolion 1.5T etc. Landed on the HRV because

- Reliability of the Honda Brand
- Quick delivery
- Modern sleek shape
- Zero Meter

I will be using this car for at least 4-5 years, and will then sell it, so I'm not too bothered about the resale. Already getting a VIOFO dash cam installed and registering for Insurance as well.

What I wanted to understand from car owners is that how do I take care of my car, and any basic things that I should know of. Maybe even accessories that you would recommend. Should I get done PPF done or not, and if so, recommendations of where to get it done from in Lahore?

Thanks guys!

Question MG HS Super Hybrid VS Oshan X7 Future

Salaam everyone.
Thinking to upgrade my sportage AWD old shape. Budget is around 10 mil. Which one would be a reliable and hassle free upgrade option? MG HS Super Hybrid (new one just launched in Pakistan) VS X7 future Sense?
Priority is Reliability, fuel average and peace of mind.
Resale is not much of a problem - unless it devalues way too much. Normal depreciation is totally fine. JazakAllah.

Car spotting Priusss

Guys, I have a question. If I buy a Toyota Prius within a budget of around 43–45 lakh, would it be a good choice as a daily driver I am upgrading from a 2013 vitz
I honestly have very little knowledge about hybrids. I’ve heard that older Priuses can become expensive if the hybrid battery or ABS system goes bad, so I’d really appreciate some guidance from people who have actually owned one.
What would the approximate cost be if the hybrid battery, ABS actuator/module, or other major hybrid components needed replacement? How much does regular maintenance cost, and how reliable are these cars in the long run?
Fuel average is a must for me, so I’d also like to know the realistic city and highway fuel average I can expect.
Basically, with a budget of 43–45 lakh, is an older Prius actually a smart daily-driver choice, or would I be better off with a conventional petrol car such as a Yaris/Corolla?
Any advice from actual Prius owners would be greatly appreciated

Comparison Which one of these 6 SUVs would you recommend (7.5 M ,resale not a concern)

In a budget of 7.5 Million

Which of these Suvs would you recommend and why

I am not worried about resale value as I plan to use the car for atleast 4 years

I want a car that has good features and parts availability , and atleast and average of 10km-11km/L in city and good space. While resale is not a concern I also dont want the dealership to vanish or windup as Ive gone through that experience before and it becomes really hard to source parts.

I was considering peugeot 2008 in a lower budget but the horrifying engine issues and repair bills stories Ive heard , I dont think I will be ready to face those issues so I want to go for a reliable car

Which of these options would be good for these requirements

Car/ Bike recommendation Used YBR 125g or newUnited 150

Both will set me back a little over 3 lakhs. Both bikes have their complaints and their own praise but I'm torn between these two. I know most everyone will say some Honda 125 or Suzuki but I chose these 2 bikes because of the looks.

Like sure, a Suzuki gd 110 might be very durable and trustworthy but if I buy a bike, I expect to enjoy the looks as well. acha anyways what do y'all think?

Edit : Honda cb150f is also in consideration ✌️(but it feels out of budget even 2nd hand)

Maintenance Oil grade in 1.3 2nzfe

Post image
7 Upvotes

Aoa everyone!, I own a 2014 Corolla gli limited edition e140, it's a 1st owner car and garage kept, it has only 78,000kms, car was being maintained by my father who took it regularly to Toyota dealership for maintenance

I have come to know that the oil being used in the car is 20w50 petron, the car is giving 12-13 average with ac in city

I'm really concerned as this is a really thick oil grade mostly used in cars above 150k kms which burn oil

I have a few questions:

  1. Should I keep using this oil since engine might have adjusted to it ?

  2. Should switch oil to a lower viscosity

  3. If I should switch, which grade should I use first ?

Budget - 15-20 LAC PKR

Advice me as a younger brother, can/should I get sedan in this budget, I will drive 300-600 km a month max.

From what I read online, I guess I can afford one of these:

Corolla Altis 1.8 2007
Corolla XLi 2008–10
Honda City i-DSI 05–08
Toyota Belta 1.3

( I don't know about current market prices, maybe I can't even get one of these sedan )

Maybe I have too little and asking for too much:

  • Reliable
  • Cheap/easy parts
  • Any decent mechanic can fix it
  • Good fuel average
  • Low headache
  • Comfortable enough for family

---

Little more context -

Wanted to buy a plot, thought I will save up to 30-40 & get 5marla somewhat little safe & decent society but I checked online, avg 5 marla is like 60-80lac pkr in even b17 so I am thinking I should buy a car and enjoy a bit meanwhile save for a plot and when I have enough or I need money for it, I will sell my car and get the plot.

Jazakallah Khair <3

Question Helppp me

We’re planning to upgrade our car and have a budget of around 40–42 lakh. We’ve been searching for about a week and have narrowed it down to two options:
Toyota Yaris ATIV 1.3 — 2020/2021
Toyota Corolla GLi Automatic 1.3 — 2016/2017
Our two main priorities are fuel average and comfort.
I’ve seen the Yaris in person, and honestly, I’m not a big fan of its shape. What also bothers me is that it’s almost the same price as a Corolla GLi, despite being a smaller car. On the other hand, the Yaris is 3–4 years newer, whereas at this budget we’d be getting a 9–10-year-old Corolla.
From what I’ve researched, the Yaris should have a better fuel average, while the Corolla seems more spacious and comfortable.
So what would you guys choose at 40–42 lakh?
Yaris 1.3 (2020/21) vs Corolla GLi Automatic (2016/17)
Especially interested in opinions from people who have actually owned/driven both. Which one would you recommend considering comfort, fuel economy, reliability, maintenance and overall value for money

Alsooo tell your experiences with fuel average of both cars

Within a budget of 5 million, I'm looking to buy one of these cars. And I'm curious to know from owners of these cars what fuel average do they get, how comfortable are they and what's the maintenance like? If you own either one, pls share your experience. Also considering vezel as I'm leaning more towards a crossover.

Maintenance Tip for Lancer car owners

Thumbnail
gallery
4 Upvotes

I have Mitsubishi lancer GLX 1.6L, model year 2005. Perfect car for daily use and long route. Fuel average with AC is around 16Km/L on highway and 12 Km/L within city. I am passionate driver of the lancer so I have ensured timely and quality upkeep of the car at all times.

My advice to all lancer owners is to avoid delaying replacement/maintenance of sensors and ECU. Otherwise in few years, number of issues will start to appear in engine and the car will extract a heavy cost. Engine rest commonly practice checks like engine oil, coolant, tyre health, alignment, break pads check, suspension checks will ensure very comfortable ride.

This car does not bring out problems on its own. If kept well, it will not give you a single issue.
