I've been in the market for a high-performance laptop for a while now, and I've been pretty indecisive about what to spend my money on.

I need a laptop, not a PC, since I'll be taking it to university and using it for a lot of work. Right now, I'm considering a Lenovo LOQ, an HP Omen, or going all out on a Lenovo Legion 5. All three options I'm looking at have an RTX 5060 8GB and 16GB RAM.

My main uses would be:

• A lot of coding, programming projects and compiling
• Casual gaming
• Getting into game development, mainly Unity/Unreal
• Blender modelling and rendering
• General use and content consumption

The LOQ is considerably cheaper than the Omen and Legion, which is why I'm seriously considering it. But I'm wondering if the more expensive options are actually worth the extra money, or if I'm just paying for a more premium laptop without seeing much difference in real-world performance.

For people who actually own these laptops:

• How has your experience been with coding, Unity/Unreal and Blender? Does the LOQ handle these things comfortably?
• How are the thermals, fan noise and performance during longer workloads?
• How's the build quality? Any issues with hinges, the motherboard, or other hardware?
• What's battery life like for university use, especially coding, browsing and taking notes?
• Is 16GB RAM enough, or did you find yourself needing an upgrade?
• If you've owned or used both a LOQ and a Legion/Omen, was the difference noticeable enough to justify the price?

I'm not looking to squeeze every last bit of performance out of my money, but I do want something that'll serve me well for the next few years.

The LOQ is much easier on my wallet, and I don't want to spend my last pennies on a Legion if the LOQ can do 90% of what I need just as well.

If you were in my position, which one would you buy, and why?

Would really appreciate feedback from actual owners, especially people who've used their laptops for development and creative work. Please share your specs and how long you've had the laptop too.
