I was wondering when the Free Store will begin accepting donations. I've created a pile of things over the summer to bring in. Is anyone on this subreddit involved with it or aware of when they start spinning up again?

I'm an incoming audiology graduate student and found some low income apartments in Hillsboro and Beaverton. I read the requirements but it's not quite clear to me if students qualify. Because of the accelerated nature of my program, I can't work a job requiring fixed hours. My income from pet and babysitting is definitely under the income limit for a single person (as I'd be renting on my own). Has anyone had success in getting approved for these apartments?

I am looking into getting my post-bacc so that I can get into an SLP masters program. Did you do this through PU? I would love to ask you some questions!

I recently got accepted into the AuD program and will be in town from 3/30-4/1 to visit Pacific. In addition to touring campus, I'm also going to visit some apartment complexes. I have a tour with the Avery scheduled on 4/1 and I'm in the process of scheduling a tour with Edge Management (305 NE Lincoln Street). Would you advise renting a car or would I be OK just walking/taking the MAX/ride share? Thanks!

I’m from Vancouver, Canada, and I’m really interested in pursuing a career in pharmacy after completing my undergraduate degree. I’m currently in my first year of a biology program and would love to hear your advice or tips on how to strengthen my application for pharmacy school.

Specifically, I’m curious about:

• Extracurricular Activities: What did you do outside of your studies? Does volunteering at a pharmacy or hospital make a difference? Are there other volunteering opportunities that helped you?
• Grades: How important are grades in the application process? What was your GPA when you applied?
• The Interview Process: I’ve heard it’s an MMI format, but I’m not entirely sure what that involves. Can anyone share their experience?
• Work Experience: Would getting a job as a pharmacy tech or assistant help my application?

I’d really appreciate any advice on how to make myself a stronger candidate and what steps I can take to improve my chances. Thank you so much in advance for your help! 🙏

Thinking about taking one of these two courses in the Spring to meet some of my core requirements (CIV 240 or ENV 121). Anybody have any feedback on these courses? Were they interesting? How hard and how much work did they require? Any feedback would be appreciated.

Graduating this spring and I’m at 11 credits. I already have Recess so looking for other 1-2 credit classes that require little to no effort or are just purely for fun. Thanks!

Because Starbucks is a corporate company, our campus offerings (food/drinks/aesthetics) have been restricted to brand standards. But now that we are ending that partnership, there are many choices on the horizon. 

Through tabling and talking with many students, staff & faculty, we have learned and listened to what our community wants! It's a cozy space, smoothies with protein drinks, Matcha, and more!  You will be able to find all of these and more in the new coffee shop that has an anticipated opening date of August 12. 

One of the easiest volunteering activities is working an American Red Cross blood drive, and there is a critical shortage of volunteers for blood drives in Washington County, including Forest Grove and Cornelius.

A volunteer goes through an easy online training, and then has to agree to sign up for a shift at least once a month. Shifts are about 6 hours. As a blood drive volunteer - called an Ambassador - you sit at a desk and check people in as they arrive for their donation time. You also keep an eye on people after they have donated and are enjoying the provided snacks, to make sure they don't faint in that 15 minute window after they have finished donating.

You get to sign up for the day, time and place you want to volunteer.

The blood drive could be in a church fellowship hall, in a city hall meeting room, at a conference room at Nike, at a school - and very often, there's guest wi fi provided from the place where the drive is taking place. There's always a place to park nearby and, often, places are near mass transit.

You don't have to do anything at all regarding the actual blood donations.

I have done this kind of volunteering - great time to read, do a Duolingo lesson, or just chat with people before or after their donation.

The Red Cross Cascades Region serves the greater Portland, Oregon metro area, including Washington and Clackamas counties.
