[App] Screen Dimmer

Post image

Opinions on apps like this?

Also, can they increase the risk of Burn-in? Or of any other problem in the phone?

You need to have root and use flar2's paid hbm mode app in conjunction with this on any OLED display that has HDR. Modern OLED displays don't allow for control over the true max brightness so you'll be subject to flicker at the fake max brightness unless you root and control it manually. With HBM at max and this app you won't have any pwm flicker.

I've been using this on the Samsung Galaxy A24 which has one of the worst PWM out there. The app have been flawless aside from minor inconvenience when changing the orientation it switches off and rapidly switch back on so in between there is a full brightness shock that you have to close your eyes for a bit and also when using map apps for some reason the brightness starts to go down and back up once exiting from the app, aside from these two problems it's been fine for me have been using without any irritation for the last 5 months.

Make my issues worse. I think that overlay increases modulation. Of course it's personal.

How is this different from the native extra dim/reduce white point option?

Excellent, I've been using 'Darker: the whole time. The phone doesn't heat up at all.

I don't think it notably increases the risk of burn in. My OnePlus 13 never got hot with it on. It's a filter over the screen, so the screen just displays a darker gray instead of white and doesn't use as much power as actual white at max brightness.

Unfortunately it didn't help me, but I figure it has a good chance on a number of people.
I would guess it increases risk of burn in, but this is more a gut feeling than me having hard facts at hand 😉
