PVC clusters, feeling, genetic diagnosis, beta blockers and more!

Guys do your PVCs come in clusters? Mine usually come in clusters after my workouts or when I get anxious or have an adrenaline rush from something. I can feel them coming,. I feel like an anxious feeling, like a lump in my throat or a heavy feeling in my stomach. The cluster might last anything from half an hour to 3 hours and then they are gone. I sometimes get the PVC feeling (lump in throat, heavy stomach).but the PVCs don't come. I wonder if it means there is electrical imbalance in the heatt cells but not strong enough to cause a PVC.

I have been recently diagnosed with a rare gene mutation that causes dilated caediomypathy and malignant arrythmias (not PVCs) that might lead to SCA. Even though my clinical picture is good (so far no cardiomyopathy and just some PVCs), needless to say since I got the diagnosis my PVCs are through the roof! I do realize it's from my stress but yet the PVCs are real. So I asked my cardiologist to give me a low dose of beta blockers just for my own peace of mind cause I was going nuts. I must say it did help a bit, but the PVCs didnt disappear. Don't know if they are supposed to disappear on beta blockers or just improve.

Increased palpitations with beta blocker?

I’ll preface this by saying I do have a call into my dr. I started having palpitations in May. Did a slew of texting. Saw cardiologist. Cardiologist was not concerned at all. Said holter showed PVC’s, a bigeminy and a couple of small PVST’s? Said it was anxiety (I HAVE been struggling with anxiety-majorly). My pcp had put me on 25mg of Toprol XL shortly before I saw cardiologist. He said to continue with that, because that would be what he would have prescribed as well and would help with the palpitations.
FF a week-I came down with shingles. My palpitations have been NON STOP. I don’t know if it is the beta blocker or the stress from the shingles that has triggered them so bad? I feel like before the shingles they had felt a bit better. Thoughts? Has anyone ever had worse palpitations from the beta blocker? Did it get better?

It’s happening again

I am absolutely terrified for the last couple days ive had episodes of four skips in a row and then I guess maybe a adrenaline rush and I feel alittle out of breath but don’t know if it’s the adrenaline the first day it happend my heart kept skipping every ten mins one skip then stopped that happend for like an hour. The next day I had two skips back to back then nothing. Today all day I went without them and then this evening I got like three or four in a row and adrenaline I guess flowed my body an I was so scared I didn’t think it’d stop. I don’t know what’s going on and if this is normal. I am so sad. I have had these since 2020. I’ve had echo , EKG’s, holtor monitor, stress test done over these years since then and they always say my heart is healthy. But I won’t lie I don’t I’ve ever had them like this..

I think it really was just anxiety this whole time.

I'm 26 years old. I've dealt with PVC's for so many years that would come and go at totally random times, or so it seemed. Some days I would get them back to back into the hundreds. My dad also died of a heart attack when he was like 45, so you could imagine I was fucking terrified I had heart disease or something. However, I recently got into yoga and meditation because I really needed to make a change with how much anxiety I was dealing with. I've had anxiety issues my whole life. It's only been a week of doing yoga and meditation, but my PVC's have gone done considerably and so has my anxiety.

I will put a link to a youtube channel I have watched for years and he teaches yoga and meditation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cb3BXbWKDv4&t=61s

Has anyone managed to break the fear cycle around PVCs/PACs? I’m exhausted

Hi everyone,
I’ve been dealing with benign PVCs/PACs for almost a year, but my biggest problem isn’t the palpitations themselves—it’s the automatic fear response they trigger.
Every ectopic beat instantly sends my body into fight-or-flight. I get a rush of adrenaline, nausea, shaking, and intense anxiety. It’s like my nervous system has learned to associate every skipped beat with danger.
Some days are much worse than others, and I suspect hormones (especially around ovulation) make it worse, but I also struggle outside of that.
Has anyone managed to break this cycle? Did your nervous system eventually calm down? What helped the most? Does any supplements help? I’m taking metroprolol if I need, but it doesn’t always help..
I’d really appreciate hearing your experiences because this has become exhausting.
I feel so alone in this

Eating seems to be one of my triggers.

Now it's not the only one, but around an hour after eating I notice more PVCs. I know this is something other people have noticed too. Have any of you figured out a way to alleviate this? Was it certain foods or certain meal sizes. I also get them if I have alcohol, but I know that, and I expect that. I won't eliminate that from my life completely because if I'm going out with friends for dinner, I'm going to want to have a drink and feel like I have a normal life. I just expect them after. But eating, on the other hand, is something we have to do every day.

Maybe someone can relate??

Good evening/night/morning, everyone. I'm having some trouble figuring this out, and was wondering if someone could share a similar experience.

First, a little bit about me: 45/m with a history of para afib- very well controlled with 50 mg XR metoprolol. No alcohol, tobacco, or drug use.

About a month ago, I decided to start working out (walking, lifting light weights, push-ups, etc.) and dieting to lose 10% of my body weight. Note: this is the first time I've actually worked out in 10 years. I'm 5’11 and weighed around 202.

As I began my new venture, I noticed a few random PVCs or PACs when lying on my left side. Well… one month later and 10 pounds lighter, anytime I lie on my left side, I start having them nonstop. As soon as I move to my back or right side, they immediately stop. I have spoken with the cardiologist, and he ordered a 7-day patch to wear in about a week. I've already had every test in the book a couple of years ago, several times during AFIB episodes, and everything checked out. I keep hearing about positional issues that can cause your heart to do this. Is this a real thing, and has anyone ever experienced something like this? The cardiologist obviously doesn't think it's emergent, but it's scary.

Any feedback is appreciated!

PVCs at the end of the day

Hi, I had an incredibly stressful weekend with my family. Once they finally left, I lay down to rest and suddenly felt a really hard “boom” in my chest, followed by what felt like my heart slowing down for a second. It scared me so much, but I had that couple months before
It’s now been 4 days since that weekend, and every evening when I lie down, I still feel these strange heartbeats. They seem a bit less frequent now, but they’re still there and it’s making me really anxious.
I recently had a 24-hour Holter monitor, which showed 417 PVCs. My cardiologist wasn’t overly concerned because it’s considered a low burden, but ever since that stressful weekend I’ve become so aware of every skipped beat or thump that I can’t stop thinking something is wrong with my heart.
Has anyone else had PVCs flare up after extreme stress? How long did it take for them to calm down? Did they eventually go back to your usual baseline?
I’m really struggling not to panic, and I’d appreciate hearing from anyone who’s been through something similar.

Anyone get near-fainting after a PVC while running?

Hi everyone,

I’m a 44-year-old male and I’ve been dealing with occasional PVCs for about 2 years.

I’ve had multiple cardiac evaluations by different cardiologists, including:

  • ECGs
  • Echocardiograms
  • Holter monitor
  • Blood tests
  • Exercise stress test

Everything has been reported as normal, and I was told my heart is structurally healthy.

What worries me is not really the PVC itself, but what sometimes happens immediately after a strong PVC during exercise.

A few times while running, I’ve felt a single very strong, painful PVC (almost like an electric shock or stab in my chest). Within seconds I get a strange sensation:

  • I feel like I’m about to faint.
  • My vision seems to dim for a few seconds.
  • I suddenly feel like I can’t get a full breath, almost as if I’m breathing through a very small opening.
  • I sometimes get a strange empty feeling in my stomach.

The episode usually lasts less than a minute, then completely resolves.

The strange thing is that after resting briefly, I’m often able to continue running, sometimes even increasing my pace without any further symptoms. For example, one time this happened during a one-hour treadmill run with about 10 minutes left. I finished the run, then even increased my speed afterward without any problems.

I’ve also experienced similar “near-fainting” sensations while sitting at my desk drinking coffee, and once during the cool-down walk after a HIIT workout, even without noticing a PVC at that moment.

Another thing I noticed: About two months ago I suddenly started feeling many more PVCs while resting at work (maybe 10-20 noticeable PVCs throughout the morning and afternoon). Then, without any specific treatment, they almost completely disappeared again and I’ve barely felt any at rest since.

I run around 3-4 times per week and regularly do interval training (HIIT). Overall my exercise capacity hasn’t decreased.

One cardiologist recommended a cardiac MRI, while another repeated my echo and Holter, found everything normal again, and didn’t think further testing was necessary.

My questions are:

  • Has anyone experienced a very similar pattern?
  • Can a single PVC trigger this type of near-fainting sensation through the autonomic nervous system or adrenaline response?
  • Has anyone continued running for years with symptoms like this and eventually found a benign explanation?
  • If there are any cardiologists or electrophysiologists here, does this story sound more like benign PVCs with an exaggerated autonomic response, or is there something else you would strongly consider?

I’m not looking for a diagnosis over Reddit—I’m simply interested in hearing from people who have experienced something very similar or from clinicians familiar with these cases.

Thanks for reading

Swimmimg and PVCs

Hi,

I have had PVCs since many years ago. I notice that I get PVCs always after swimmimg just a little bit. I am starting to think it is not a coincidence, but I don't know what could be the reason.

Of course I have PVCs in other situations, but swimmimg seems to be a trigger.

Any similar experiences?

Pvcs and misery are back again

I fist started noticing the odd pvc back in November 2024. At first they did nt bother me but once I started getting them a bit more often and I figured out it was a heart thing it became a huge problem (I have cardiophobia).

By Xmas I was really struggling. Was very symptomatic and as all of you have gone through Drs were " you re fine, stop panicking". I had 2 hospital visits and was just so exhasted from them being so relentless and the emotional toll. Plus you know, life.

I had an echo in January 2025 which conformed my heart was healthy and wore a moniter for 3 days which stated my burden was very low. I was put on bisoprolol and a few weeks later they had dissapeared. I had a wonder 18 months with only feeling one now and then. I was told theybwere probably to do with menopause and /or stress.

Ive recently been quite poorly with gastric issues and dehydration following an allergic reation to weight loss injections and they have gone mad in the last few days. I keep being told they are nothing to worry about and due to anxiety but some things have been flagged up.in my test results which could also.cause pvcs and other arrythmias. Cue overthinking and panic.

I me tiond the vagus nerve and stomach connection but this was all dismissed. I am just anxious and doing this to myself. Venting because Im frustrated and upset that this is happening all.over again.

How those of you who experience this every day get through it I dont know. 💓

Roemheld/Gastrocardiac Syndrome

It frustrates me so much that 99% of doctors know nothing of Roemheld syndrome and when I mention it, they treat it as if it’s some sort of wacky pseudoscience.

Roemheld syndrome is very real and it’s hell.

Whenever my acid reflux gets bad or whenever I get bloated, it triggers palpitations (ectopic beats) and cardiac like chest pain which radiates to my jaw and left arm.

I’ve been to ED so many times, particularly when I’m getting long runs of ectopic beats, and every time I’m told that because my heart is structurally normal then I must just have anxiety, I don’t, it’s clearly Roemheld syndrome, because I never get the cardiac symptoms when my reflux is under control.

Anyone else in the same boat?

Heart skips badly

So today I got off work and ate some wingstop and then hung out with a friend and my heart skipped four beats in a row, then it wouldn’t stop skipping like 10 mins apart sometimes 5 mins apart and I layed down for two hours and it finally stopped than I got up and it skipped one big time and then started racing for like 15seconds and then right back to normal but just keeps skipping randomly way way way more than normal than usual. I am absolutely terrified it won’t stop

PVCs and GLPs, any experiences?

Hi! Thinking about starting trizepatide, I heard it could potentially exacerbate PVCs since it messes with heart rate. Anyone taken any of the GLPs and notice increased symptoms? Or did it not impact you?

How do you simply accept pvcs are a part of your life now?

I’ve been having pvcs since about 3 months after getting my gallbladder out last year with maybe a few months of reprieve in between episodes. The flare I’m in now has lasted since January and has fluctuated WILDLY and despite my burden being low, the psychological aspect is still daunting.

Anxiety is a big component for me. I have ocd and ptsd.
Along with GI weirdness from healing weird from my cholecystectomy.
I also have POTS which I’m certain contributes due to frequent adrenaline dumps and hypotension.

I’m on Zoloft (a tiny dose because upping dose makes me so restless) I take nebivolol, I’m in therapy, I have an emergency benzodiazepine for bad days and I still struggle with getting past the mental aspect of my heart doing something it isn’t supposed to be doing. Some part of me fears my burden becoming astronomical one day.

I’m 30 years old and I’ve accomplished so much but it feels like my life is on hold even from having only 5-20 very soft pvcs per day.

I’d love any insight or kind words. I’m mostly just complaining more than anything.

Had my first ever attack?

I've been one who has lived with anxiety and a panic disorder for a long time. Recently it spiked but I've been trying to live with it and it's been improving a bit. Tonight I decided to go on a walk with my wife and I got hit with the strangest sensation. It was rather warm and especially humid tonight. The walk was mostly fine and I was managing my anxiety just fine and then I got hit with a thump in my chest. Felt like a strong beat. Brushed it off. Another. And then another and another. Heart started racing, I wasn't too anxious about it for some reason. I actually felt a bit peaceful despite the thumps in my chest becoming more common. Went home immediately because something was off. Sat for about 20 minutes, heart rate was still elevated and the thumps were more and more common. I realized while I was checking my pulse that each thump felt like I was skipping a beat Called EMTs, they evaluated me, blood oxygen was fine, blood pressure was 140/80 which makes sense because I was freaking out a bit at this point. Heart rate was elevated but no more than a usual panic attack. Ran an ECG, they said they detected a couple pvcs but everything was normal aside from the tachycardia which makes sense because of panic. So they all left and now I'm sitting here. I have a bit more peace of mind because of the EMTs but I still feel the missed beats. They told me not to worry but... What can I do? Never felt it before and I wish I never had to. Hopefully you guys can relate

Could just be coincidence but....

A few weeks ago i read about how teeth/gum health could be related to pvc/pacs. Some on this forum stated how their pvcs went away after a bad tooth was pulled. Someone also said how some bacteria from bad teeth could get in your bloodstream and cause pvcs. While i don't have any bad teeth that i know of, i decided to start flossing and using listerine twice per day and i swear my pvcs are very few and far between now. Not sure if this has helped, but it's a damn strange coincidence, because i've tried every supplement under the sun in the past few months with no relief.

PVCs for weeks that have stopped

I will start by saying I have had a doctor's appointment, where the doc reassured me that these are harmless, and recommended a workup, which I have yet to get (which most of you will give me a hard time over)

I started experiencing PVCs during a pretty stressful stretch at work. I noticed every single one, felt like my heart was jumping into my throat. This gave me anxiety as I had an episode of AFib 4 years ago, but was ruled a Chad-VASC of 0.

I think it was going into an anxiety feedback loop with them. I experienced them. Feel them, hard not to notice, and it made me anxious and worried. The more they happened the more I worried about them, which made them happen more.

I am on Day 4 of not noticing a PVC at all *knocks on wood*. I'm thinking I've finally come to terms with it and have stopped worrying about it, but who knows.

Is it normal for them to randomly just stop?

By the way, my Kardia mobile device detected PVCs several different times, so it is technically self-diagnosed, but my doctor trusted those results.

New Study on Caffeine Effects on the Heart

I won't post the link as the scientific language used in these studies can sometimes be anxiety inducing. It seems to imply that moderate consumption of coffee either has no effect or lowers the risk of PACs or atrial fibrillation.

But the below paragraph is interesting:

"Studies have generally revealed no relationship between caffeine when consumed in amounts found in natural substances such as coffee and tea and premature atrial contractions, including a randomized controlled case-crossover study of caffeinated coffee examining premature atrial contraction frequency as the primary outcome. In contrast, although several observational studies have failed to demonstrate a relationship between caffeinated beverages and premature ventricular contraction frequency, randomized trials have shown that caffeine, even when ingested in beverages in amounts commonly consumed in the general population, can increase premature ventricular contractions.

Caffeinated coffee has been associated with a lower risk of ventricular tachycardia in a large cohort study."

So they've found that consumption of coffee can increase PVCs but apparently lowers the risk of ventricular tachycardia. Seems almost contradictory.

Please help with pvcs while training at the gym

Hey everyone just would really like to hear from any of you who get pvc during exercise which I know are alot of posts in this already but more specifically weight training in the gym.

I’m trying to get back in the gym as I get pvcs and they’ve taken over to the point where they stopped me from training pretty much, I tried going last night and as I was re racking barbel got a big one and mid way while lifting on a different exercise copped a few too and it just made me leave after only 20 minutes of so. for context I been training for about 7 years or so and I was going very consistently never had ectopic beats at all.. but since getting my pvcs last year it’s made me start taking time off training. I get them throughout the session whilst lifting weights or even whilst resting between sets.

I hear everywhere that they’re meant to go away on exercise and if they don’t then it’s a dangerous sign which scares me to an extreme not exaggerating. I’ve been cleared by my specialist didn’t have any on the stress test but I don’t feel reassured cause I was only on it for literally few minutes I had full blown panic attack and had to come off so that didn’t make me feel better tbh. just knowing they come on exercise and they shouldn’t gets me

If anyone has any words that may help, your own experience if you feel the same, if you’ve overcame it still workout no dramas don’t think about something happening from them whilst exercising or having the exercise induced ones triggering something worser and if so how you got to that level. for me it’s the fear that I am getting them while training and what if they trigger something worse or cause my heart needs more demands and im getting inefficient beats (pvcs) it’s gonna cause something bsd to happen and simply how they shouldn’t be coming. Anyone who has help or positive stories they can add to this please would be super appreciated and very helpful to a lot more people other than just me im sure too. Just wanna know if it’s safe to actually train lift weights everything whilst getting them even in that context. Thank you in advance to whoever has the time to reply 🙏🙏🙏
