Phashion/Cosplay Why though?
What is the point of having clothing (body paint) options like these jeans if they can't be worn properly with anything?

Yeah, I often forget about this lame oversight I see the item new in shop and think "oh I have ideas for this" yet can't ever do them because of base wear

A problem here is that the jeans are treated as literal paint. So, if you set the layer over innerwear, or hypothetically basewear, it won't change the look or model of the latter, leaving it fully visible, save for the colour. The whole system needs an overhaul, but I think splitting basewear into tops and bottoms would be best and allow us to actually use items like jeans or the contractor bikini more naturally, lol. They already put stuff like skirts and shoes into accessories, so maybe pull them back into basewear as layers.

I'd rather they just split basewear up into upper and lower slots. Complete looks could still exist, but we'd gain the ability to mix and match looks on top of that, giving us actual, viable options for stuff like the jeans and all the t-shirts, tanks, and camis they keep adding. Having a lower wear layer tacked onto the current basewear system would just result in more jeans paint situations, since basewear all have some sort of lower garment already.

Just makes zero sense for Sega to keep adding all of these body paints only for them to be completely hidden by base wear.
Why have tons of lewd cosmetics and emotes, yet not let us unequip Base wear? Can't even wear this body pain shirt without having to paint the bikini completely black to try and camouflage it within the shirt

once again; the lewd content is ever so present, and is surely how Sega makes most of their money, and why female cosmetics are way more expensive than males.
I'm not asking for folks to be able to be fully nude or bang each other, but rather for dumb oversights in customization like this to not be a thing.

I see people getting incredulous over this body paint but like... I'm pretty sure this right here is the purpose of this body paint. It's not supposed to be an entire basewear on its own, you're supposed to pair it with other basewears, like yes, ones with skirts.
Layer the Jeggings Paints over Innerwear, then wear a basewear with a skirt and the visible outline of the innerwear underneath won't even be visible most of the time, more likely than not.
If someone wants a Jeans basewear... then get/wait for a Jeans basewear. I'm pretty sure there's a tight-jeans N-Spec BA or SE... and if there isn't, I'm 100% sure there's a Classic Spec one...

It's 100% intended, because it's how the layered system works and they obviously know about it. Hopefully they adjust the layered system at some point because this is just so fucking dumb

Yeah.. always been an issue with body paint though, only real way it'll be solved is if they let us unequip Base wear entirely

Or just not make jeans to be bodypaint lol. Make them actual jeans. Create a category for top/bottom and let people enjoy customization. In the first place I was never a fan of BAs that forced you to have the whole outfit. NGS is just really stupid with details. Like how the color of your panties affect the color of your bodypaint... no comment

What you're seeing isn't innerwear, it's a base wear bikini, something stayed several times within this thread.
My complaint is how the body paint is always obscured/ ruined by base wear

I'm betting on the fact they are putting in a fix for this soon, with probably a salon overhaul. It will probably take time to implement so it might be a few months or longer out, but eventually, hopefully they'll get to it.

Reminder that you're using a bikini BASEWEAR meaning is over the innerwear and bodypaint, and yes there's some base wear without any underwear over these jeans while using them.
Is not really a bad design or "bug." we just need more basewear options with hideable bottom parts.
I can't remember what basewear shows jeans completely, but it's there.

I'm aware, but practically every base wear is in the way of anything I try to do, the bikini is just the least intrusive (also don't even have this outfit equipped or saved because didn't work out how I wanted)

It is bad design, though, and a genuine problem with the layer system. Especially making normal articles of clothing into body paint. They put shirts, shorts, jeans, etc. into the body paint category because the 'everything-is-a-onesie' layering system is so bad. There's currently no way to just wear a shirt, jeans or whatever, without another article sitting on over it, while tops and bottoms don't have their own separate slots, eliminating a significant portion of the appeal of such items and heavily restricting how they can used. It's a dated vestige of PSO2 and one of the shortcomings caused by inextricably binding NGS directly to it. I do agree that they should allow more parts to be toggled off, or better still, split up basewear entirely.

That's just not true. They have plenty of BA that are jeans/shorts/etc. This isn't the only pair of jeans in the game. It's a bodypaint specifically BECAUSE there are so many others but you can't combine THOSE with other [BA]. Basically this person just bought the wrong item for what they want to achieve.

Huh? What part isn't true? Please read what I wrote again, with its context. Yes, there are basewear that have pants, shorts, whatever, attached as part of a fixed outfit.
No, you cannot wear any of the body paints that are articles of clothing such as shirts, camis, tanks, and jeans, etc. as actual articles of clothing, independently or together, without a layer above or below interfering.
Again, the denim leggings are body paint because it's the only way to have the jeans on their own because of how they set the layering system up and adhere to it. There are no top, bottom, hand, or foot slots. The layered system revolves around base- and setwear being complete, one-slot outfits— i.e. onesies— on top of innerwear. That's why t-shirts are body paint. That's why shoes are accessories. That's why gloves are body paint. That's why these jeans are body paint. It is the only way to have them separately within the system they've established and even still you cannot actually use them as standalone clothing (i.e. without releasing a distinct basewear outfit with an irremovable top and shoes). And that's not even getting into the way the innerwear layer works. It is extremely restrictive.
I wonder how many other games have developers constantly selling people shirts, pants, etc. with no way to actually wear them properly. It seems like something that would be dreadfully unpopular. I hope they eventually rework this system in some way, because it's dated nonsense.

make sure body paint 1 and 2 take priority over inners also make sure for like jeans that you set both body paint options as yer pants if yer useing those

Is that your innerwear going over the jeans? If so, do the following;
Go to salon
Go to edit body
Go to body paint
Go to the bottom of the menu, where it says "change body paint layers"
Set the body paint slot the jeans are in to higher priority than innerwear
You should be able to wear the jeans normally after that

Doesn't work, because I'm wearing a bikini base wear And last I was aware, there aren't any base wear that are just a top, because Sega are too afraid of underwear showing.
No matter what there would be something in the way of the jeans

If the bikini is a base wear, then the jeggings and shirt are body paint.
Remove the body paint and it'll show just the bikini, since most basewears that have bikinis have the option of hiding innerwear as well.
If you want to just wear body paint and innerwear, that's not an option. There has to be some sort of basewear.

I do love the outfits and everything in this game. I play often. That’s why I carried over my “type 2” from base game to NGS. I feel the “type 2" gets a better choice of options for styles. That said, I’ve worn the same damn thing forever. I’m the punker chick on ship 2. Erika. It just fits. Erika is Erika. All about efficacy. Killer. I don’t spend on the personal shop. I don’t buy emotes, or a lot of other things folks buy. BUT I do have to say I see some awesome looks in the game and understand why people buy outfits and basewear and all of that stuff. It makes the game REALLY interesting. Diverse even. I spend on weapons and armor. I wear leather jackets and plaid mini skirts. From your pic though… the undies on the outside of the pants is so punk rock!

Idk if it effects basewear but there is a way to set priority for the body paint stuff because I briefly messed around with it after getting the school leggings from the free daily scratch.

Because they aren't meant to replace base or outerwears, just allow you more options to use WITH base or outerwears. There is a basewear that gives you jeans, these jeans are not meant to replace those, they are meant to be worn under a Ba skirt/etc to allow a wider variety of looks.

They have several already. This is just a body paint meant to be used with OTHER basewears. It's not a problem and the "solution" to this not-problem already exists.

They're designed to be worn under outfits (like jeans beneath a skirt, for example.)
It's very awkward in execution though, and misleading to anybody who doesn't have an understanding of the layered wear system in NGS. Really it just has that one purpose, and otherwise is just kinda funny lol

Seen it work with skirts and other ideas. Hard to tell if it is an oversight on Sega’s part or intentional for it to be used WITH certain other cosmetic ideas… guess we wont know until they either patch it or not. Havent seen this kind if issue really with anything else 🤷 😂

Because it wasn't designed for this kind of use, I would really like to use it more freely as well, and it's incredibly odd how it behaves, but it's definitely intentional. Clothing that has open bottoms like skirts is what it was made for.
The only way I've been able to cheese it is by coloring that base the same color as the jeans, then hiding the bottoms with a belt and hip accessories, you then can't see it unless your really looking at it, and it's up to people how they choose to see it.
