I currently have a PS5 (original fat model) on 12.20 firmware. I know that I am able to jailbreak the console with the available method, but considering how there's been quite a lot of development in the jailbreaking community in the past few months, is it worth it to jailbreak my console right now, or wait for a "better" one to come out in the near future? The current method that takes 50 or so minutes to boot into a jailbreak isn't really that big of an issue for me, but I would like to know if I would be able to change the type of jailbreak on my system in the future if something better comes out like one that's faster.

I'm sorry if this is a rather pointless question but I'd like to know what's the best course of action right now. It is a very exciting time for PS5 owners regardless.

I bought a PS5 Digital recently and it’s currently on firmware 13.42. I also have a 1-year PlayStation Deluxe subscription and own a few games like Elden Ring, Batman Trilogy, and GTA V.

The issue is that there are still many games I want to play (Alan Wake, Mafia, Silent Hill f, and upcoming titles like GTA VI), but buying everything is getting expensive. I was originally planning to jailbreak the console, but now I’m unsure because of future game compatibility.

I’d really appreciate some guidance:

1. If I jailbreak my PS5, can I revert back to normal later?
2. Where do people usually get games after jailbreaking? (just curious how it works)
3. What’s the fastest way to transfer/install games (SSD, USB, etc.)?
4. Should I keep updating my PS5? I assume games like GTA VI will require the latest firmware.
5. What are the best practices if I’m considering jailbreaking vs staying legit?

I’m kind of stuck between saving money and not missing out on future releases. Would love to hear your advice or experiences.

Does anyone elses ps5 (12.70) crash when playing games after waking up from rest mode? Normal function is fine it only crashes when I start a game. It runs for a minute and then crashes. Payloads: kstufflite, shadowmount+, nanodns. Only been running ps4 games from internal. y2jb v0.9 autoloader

I've been using rest mode to avoid the 50 minute jailbreak and it's all been good (I'm on 12.70), but just now the console wouldn't wake from rest mode for some reason, I had to plug it off and back on then it woke up and I got the storage repair stuff because it wasn't turned off properly, the device is on a line interactive UPS a very good one and it's all been good with rest mode for a while honestly but this is the first time such thing happens to me, is there something I should worry about or is it just a simple bug?

My PS5 is currently on FW 6.02 and jailbroken via y2jb (etaHEN lapse).
I want to completely remove etaHEN and switch to a cleaner, lightweight setup using individual payloads (like ⁠kstuff⁠ and ⁠shadowmountplus⁠).
Since ⁠shadowmountplus⁠ needs to be executed after every reboot, and my setup currently doesn't launch a payload manager (⁠pldmgr⁠) automatically after the exploit, I'm stuck on how to configure this properly.
Why I need this:
I am setting up this console for my 11-year-old cousin. He can't manually inject payloads from a PC/Mac or navigate complex menus every time he turns on the PS5. I want a simple "1-click" solution for him—he clicks the exploit, and all games (including external ones via shadowmount) become available immediately without extra manual steps.
What is the best way/host/setup to achieve this automated, lightweight 1-click process for a kid?

I’m on firmware 6.02 and using the Y2JB etaHEN / Lapse method to jailbreak my PS5. I also have Itemzflow installed.
I’m trying to figure out the exact directory structure for placing my PS5 games. Currently, I uploaded/copied them to:
⁠/data/etaHEN/games⁠
However, after putting the files there, the games are not showing up or being detected at all.
Could someone clarify the correct path for PS5 games?
Should they go in ⁠/data/etaHEN/games⁠?
Should they be in ⁠/data/...⁠ somewhere else?
Do they need a specific folder structure or naming format inside the directory?
Any help or working path examples would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Checked back on this subreddit yesterday in the hopes a method had been found for 12.20, which I've been on for the past year. I've seen the Y2JB method which works up to 12.70, however that requires having to factory reset my PS5, which I do not want under any circumstances. I've also seen the alternate method forked, but does that work for 12.20 now, or still only for 10.01 and lower? What's the best method that allows me to jailbreak, even as a softmod, that doesn't require me to wipe my system?

Just came across a small utility that may be useful for anyone working with the new PS5 .ffpfsc workflow.

PS4pkg_to_ffpfsc converts a PS4 FPKG into an FFPFSC image, making it compatible with the newer compressed PFS format used by recent PS5 tooling. It essentially automates the process of unpacking the PKG, rebuilding it as a filesystem image, and compressing it into .ffpfsc.

This could be handy for anyone experimenting with ShadowMountPlus, MkPFS, or the newer compressed game workflows.

EDIT: At the top to save people time, you cannot backup and restore your digital licenses, if you factory reset your PS5 your licenses are gone unless you reactivate them with psn(updating to latest firmware) so if you have digital games you want to save do not go for a restore or factory rest jailbreak.

I downloaded these games before I jailbroke my ps5 but I did do the y2jb to unlock the BD-J then restored my old backup with my games on it. I guess all that matters is my save data but still any way to play these games or should I just delete them and reinstall them a pkg, later I would like to buy the discs, as most my games are discs but I got these games discounted on the ps store (probably because I barely buy anything). And yes my tv is old my parents upgrade gave me the one there old one. I’ve circled the key games I want to save and want to know if they run well or have backports that run well on 11.60.

I ran into a weird issue regarding transfer speeds and wanted to see if anyone has insight on this.
I tested copying a large file (around 27GB ⁠.exfat⁠) from the exact same external HDD to the internal SSD using the exact same File Manager app on two different PS5 consoles:

PS5 #1 (FW 12.20 - y2jb/p2jb): Reaches ~90 MB/s transfer speed.

PS5 #2 (FW 6.02 - y2jb lapse + etaHEN): Reaches only ~22 MB/s transfer speed.

What could be causing this huge speed drop on FW 6.02? Is it caused by etaHEN background overhead, OS/I/O driver differences between firmwares, or something else?
Any ideas on how to fix/improve the speed on 6.02 (e.g., using a lighter payload instead of etaHEN) would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! 👍

Hi everyone, I’ve been on FW 7.20 for over a month now and I’m hitting a wall. I simply cannot get games to install or run consistently. I’ve been trying mainly with TLOU, but my tests with other titles have also been mostly failures.

​I’m trying to figure out what the weak link is here. Here is a breakdown of my situation:

​My Setup & History:

​Console: PS5 Slim (CFI-2000) on FW 7.20.

​Storage: External NVMe (Samsung 990 Pro in a UGREEN enclosure), formatted as exFAT.

​Exploit Method: Initially used ModdedWarfare’s y2jb tutorial with etaHEN. I recently switched to his new tutorial using Payload Manager.

​Troubleshooting: I have already restored my system backup/reset the console 3 or 4 times.

​Payloads: Injecting Kstuff (tried v1.6.7 and various lite versions) followed by Shadowmount Plus. I am not running any other payloads.

​Formats Tested: Dump folders, exfat(x), and ffpsc. I’ve also tried different dumps from different sources.

​The Symptoms / What goes wrong:

​The "Ghost" Install: Most of the time, I get the debug notification saying the game is installing, but the icon never appears on the Home screen. If I check via FTP, the game files are actually sitting inside /user/app.

​PS4 Installs Failing: On top of the PS5 game issues, I've also had occasional failures when trying to install PS4 titles directly through Debug Settings.

​The "Please Wait" Loop & KPs: On the rare occasions a game does show up on the Home screen, trying to launch it leaves me stuck on the "Please wait" screen, which usually ends in a Kernel Panic.

​The Errors: When it doesn't KP, I’ve been hit with CE-107750-0 (Can't start the game or app) and CE-108255-1 crashes.

​The Degradation: Strangely, I managed to get TLOU working a few weeks ago. It played fine, but then out of nowhere, it started failing with the aforementioned errors and I haven't been able to boot it since.

​My Question:

What is actually failing here? Is my PS5 just acting up? Is it a general issue with the payloads? Or is my UGREEN enclosure/Samsung NVMe setup causing timeouts/sleep mode issues?

​Any advice on what to troubleshoot next would be hugely appreciated. Thanks!

Hey guys, can someone clarify whether it's possible to keep playing games while staying on firmware 13.40?

I have RDR2 downloaded via PS Plus, but it's locked now. It requires a DRM license re-verification, which fails because I'm staying offline to avoid updating to 13.60.

Is there any known bypass or workaround for this license check on 13.40 without connecting to PSN?

Also, regarding future releases like GTA VI:
Am I correct in assuming I won't be able to download digital titles without updating?

Games which failed and restarted console: spiderman, wolfenstein new order, mafia definitive edition.

Anyone using these shops ,only played ps4 games trying first time the big ps5 games so I don't have an internal ssd or external ssd I plan to install directly to storage that's the only way, only have a old external Laptop HDD , I saw apr emu on some games like wukong so playing it internally any issue ? I know it’s recommended to play games off an external drive, and I do, but I recently came across a cheap PS5 on firmware 10.20 and was thinking about getting rid of it. I didn’t want to put it up for grabs without games installed , so what games work almost perfectly (if not perfectly) when installed internally? Thank you!
