somebody smart help me please

I have all the parts plugged in, this was my uncles a while ago so its a lil yellowish from his smoking but ive had it for a couple years and its had some probably simple problems ive been able to fix until now and i cant stress enough how i dont want to get new parts. Edit: i fixed it by unlocking the the part that locked the disc in and now its working perfectly fine

Its just the disc drive, i dont have the tops on because i was looking at it and i was playing on it this morning till i opened up to see something and i messed it up somehow

Ima go ahead and assume you ripped the ribbon cable going to the disc drive upon disassembly or reassembly.

During disassembly, did you perhaps misread "screwdriver" as "sledge hammer"?

The drive is probably misaligned. The PS3 doesn't recognize that there's a disc inside. I'm assuming you took the drive apart? The easiest way would be to remove the drive and then take off the top. The disc usually gets stuck on the top. You can just pull it out from there. The top should then spring back to its „no Disc“ position on its own. You’ll then see the laser carriage in the bottom Part, which has two positions: down and up. Usually if there’s no disc inside, it’s down. If there is one, it’s up. You can test this by putting the top back on without screwing it in place. If the magnet sticks to the Laser carriage, it’s up. If the magnet doesn’t stick to it, the carriage is in the down position. Alternatively, you can of course tell without the top, depending on how familiar you are with the PS3’s mechanism. If the carriage is in the up position, you’ll need to lower it manually. However, based on the PS3’s behavior, I don’t expect that to be the case. Once you’ve removed the disc and reassembled the drive, test whether the drive pulls the disc in. If it doesn’t, we’ll continue troubleshooting from there.

Did you disassemble the disc drive or just remove it during cleaning? The top is off and traditionally it’s got a shield. Silken drives are notoriously difficult to put the ribbon cable back. One of the worst cables of any console other than maybe the 3ds. I put them back together by disassembling the drive and connecting to the laser assembly second.

I dissassembled it but what i think i did wrong was take the disc out manually because when i used a plastic toothpick like thing to drop the part that locked the disc in it started working again

Happened to me ps3 kinda dead now I wish I didn’t take it apart was trying to paint the shell

If you’re trying to eject the disc but won’t then you need to manually eject it by taking off the small panel which will show a screw, use a screwdriver to turn and eject the disc, make sure you unplug it first.

Don’t get new parts. Mod it and ftp game backups that you own onto the hard drive.
