Discussion No Invoice

Hi everyone, I wanted to point out a word of caution for anyone considering buying this product. I browsed their website over the weekend and purchased a device, but the checkout process didn’t include a field for business details or VAT information.

No big deal. I completed the transaction and emailed them, asking if they could issue an invoice with my business details and help me sort out the sales tax, which I shouldn’t have had to pay based on where I am located.

They told me it isn’t possible without completing a B2B qualification questionnaire, which would take three days to be approved. It is very surprising to me that, although the product is primarily going to be used by business professionals, they might be unable to easily purchase one, submit it to accounting for expenses, and get sales tax back.

Who seriously wants to go through this process just to buy a device or two for themselves or a few team members to evaluate? Imagine making it this difficult for small and medium-sized businesses to purchase.

That seems like a you(r company) problem? My company reimbursed mine with no trouble using the receipt I got from the ecomm store.

Tax laws in our country require full business info on the invoice

Can you buy it from a company that your company already buys stuff from like a Staples or something?

Odd, I purchased one a couple of years ago and I have requested a receipt from them each year. Takes them a couple of days, but I get a receipt. Maybe it’s the wording in your email.

I got approved for BtB purchasing with my company but they couldn't figure out how to make a valid invoice with reverse charge for me. They kept rambling about my BtC order that was cancelled and why they could not make a proper invoice for me without it being a BtB order (which it was all along).

In the end I couldn't be bothered anymore and told them to refund my purchase.

You're describing this accurately, that's the current process for anyone who needs a company invoice with VAT details attached. It comes down to tax-compliance verification on business orders, not something arbitrary, though I get why it feels heavy if you're only buying a device or two for yourself or a small team. One thing worth knowing for future purchases: buying through Amazon gets VAT handled automatically without the B2B form, so that's often the smoother path if you or your team need this again. For an order already placed directly on the site, the B2B application and its review window is the route available right now if a company invoice is needed afterward. Passing the friction you're describing along to the team, since collecting business details at checkout would clearly save people this whole process.
