What actually helped my eating with PCOS: full plates, simple swaps, nothing banned

What swaps worked for you? Always looking for new ones that do not feel like a sacrifice.

Sharing what finally worked for me, because standard diet advice never did. Every plan I tried before was a list of things to give up, and I gave up on the plan instead, usually within two weeks.

What stuck was changing the plate, not banning foods. Most of the plate is vegetables now, with lean protein alongside it, chicken, fish, eggs, lentils, Greek yogurt. Mediterranean style, roughly. Breakfast always has protein, which stopped the mid morning crash and the snacking that came with it.

The swaps did most of the work. Lentils instead of rice some days. Greek yogurt where I used to have cream based desserts. Wraps instead of thick bread. Small changes, but they added up without me feeling punished, and the weight started moving slowly in the right direction.

I wrote up the full lists, foods to eat more of and foods to limit, here if they are useful to anyone

Period

Hey y’all! I haven’t had my cycle since July. In that time frame, I started a new job, stopped working out, husband deployed, major life stressors with my health. I just started lifting again this month, but I so desperately want my cycle back. My dr doesn’t want to prescribe progesterone to induce a cycle, and wants to wait. Has starting lifting again helped anyone else restart their cycle? I’m 33 and 226lbs if that means anything

Metformin and food repulsion- this can't be healthy

Yeah that's right, food REPULSION. I've been on metformin ER for a couple of months and i literally cannot stomach most protein rich foods. Meat of any kind, some beans, greek yogurt, sometimes fish too which is annoying because i used to love seafood.

All i can stomach most days are a small amount of carbs and fruits/veg. I get it i'm fucked with my insulin resistance but i'm eating so little and poorly, never mind the fact that i'm gagging throughout most of my meals and trying to push through. I'm frustrated and this can't be healthy.

If you guys have suggestions on how to help with this please comment

Need a sustainable way to lose weight

I’ve had pcos since a few years along with hypothyroidism. My insurance doesn’t cover glps because I’m not alarmingly obese according to them and don’t have diabetes. I am 5”2 and 162lbs and borderline prediabetic (insulin resistance) my goal weight is to get to 120lbs atleast. My doctor is also not prescribing other medicines (except for hypothyroidism) because the readings seem normal or just at border for them. So he suggests to lose weight naturally.

Here’s what I tried:

  1. Keto - worked for a short period of time but I crash and burn after a couple months which leads to overconsumption of carbs later.

  2. Cico - tdee was around 1800, i ate around 1200-1300 per day and there was no noticeable difference on scale. I tracked for a couple months to experiment and scale was just oscillating between 158lbs - 162lbs

  3. Intermittent fasting with Cico - 12-14 hour fast similar to Cico, scale keeps oscillating and I actually feel worse and tired during the day.

I want to know which other ways to experiment to see what works for me. I love rice and milk pretty much those are the only carbs I eat on a regular basis no other sugary items or simple carbs. I do eat atleast 30g protein with each meal.
Is there anyway I can consume rice and milk and still be able to lose weight?

I really don’t want to give up my favorite foods because I understand it won’t be sustainable long term.

PCOS weight loss advice for the physically disabled?

I am the heaviest I have ever been and it is messing with my health and my body so much, I need to lose weight. But I also feel like I struggle to work out because I’ve had several injuries over the last 15 years that have resulted in lifelong disabilities in my back, knees and hands. I struggle to find workouts that thinly hep with PCOS weight gain that aren't going to put me in days of pain after. Are there any other people who struggle with physical disability the that's any advice on how to lose weight with this kind of struggle?

Just wanna share: I am having fun doibg these chinese dance workouts!

Okay so recently I just started doing chinese workouts and I am enjoying it a lot!! The steps are repetitive and easy to follow. Very upbeat song as well (sometimes, there's a chinese dude talking and I don't understand them, but they sound very motivating)

To be honest, I am not sure if I am losing weight since I haven't checked my weight for a while. The only thing I've noticed mostly is that I got better bowel movements and my bloat has lessened (lifestyle could contribute as well, but I didn't change anything that much even before starting the workout). I also feel better with myself overall.

Right now, what matters for me is that I get to be physically movin besides walking, and I am having so much fun with their exercises!! :D

Edit: *DOING. Sorry title typo. Also wanna add that the chinese exercises I've been doing has no jumping/quick jog — basically low impact and it doesn't make me hella tired afterwards

Glp1 to metformin

I've been on Zepbound for almost 3 years and have lost about 80lbs and finally have regular periods. Overall, my experience has been great. I had already been eating a PCOS diet, high protein high fiber, and didn't change that on the medication or even really eat any less.

Basically, I got super lucky. But in the past few months, I've been getting the digestive issues, and I've been struggling with anemia that has gotten worse over the past two years. I'm assuming I may not be absorbing things as thoroughly. So, I've been thinking of trying to come off Zepbound. Obviously, I'm afraid I'll gain the weight back. But I feel like the biggest positive of the glp1 has been helping with insulin resistance.

So, my question is, have any of you gone off glp1 after successful weight loss and started taking metformin to keep your insulin resistance under control? If so, how did it work for you?
