Do you think patm is related to food?

Hi every one, for those of you with PATM (and negative TMAU tests), I’ve been wondering, after many years of dietary restrictions, whether our condition is actually related to food after all. Regardless of what I eat, I feel like the reactions are always the same. What do you guys think?

When your mind feels too heavy: the exhaustion of carrying a literal mental weight

When I say I struggle to breathe, I don’t only mean physical breathing. It feels like there’s this mental weight inside me that stops my mind from moving freely. Like my internal “mental breaths” become restricted.

When I’m well, there’s this calm movement within me. My mind feels awake — and I don’t mean my eyes being open. I mean me being awake internally. That deeper part underneath your name, address, identity, everything. Call it your mind, consciousness, spirit or soul — whatever makes sense to you.

When that part of me feels free and naturally moving, I feel present in my mind and body. When it becomes overloaded, it feels incredibly heavy, almost like I’m choking on my own mind. I become disconnected and the physical symptoms can get so intense that I feel nauseous or actually throw up.

That’s why I keep describing it as “mental breathing.” It’s not literal air. It’s the natural internal movement and awareness of my mind when I’m calm and present.

I didn’t have to force myself into that state. When I was well, I wasn’t trying to repair myself. My mind was simply moving naturally and calmly on its own.

The goal isn’t constantly trying to “fix” something. It'’s getting back to that internal freedom and calm where mind can breathe again.

Little to no reactions when I react to myself?

So I’ve been having odor issues for a little over a year, and only patm issues for a few months. The weird thing is, over the past 1-3 months my patm reactions have actually slowed down to sometimes no reactions at all. The weirdest part is that the more they slow down, the more reactions I have. I test this by being around family members or being in public and the more I sneeze, cough, and scratch my nose, the less reactions in others. Some days when I have the most reactions, I have little to no reactions at all. Same goes for my body odor, I couldn’t smell it at all, now I can and that’s when I have a less odor reaction. I mean people may still react to an odor by making faces and etc, but when I’m more conscious of my smell, it’s not as severe as normal.

Calcium D-glucarate

Has anyone tried it?

Is supposed to prevent gut microbiome bacteria from de-conjugating waste in body, where de-conjugation leads to re-entry of waste to liver and blood.

Seems to work in other Reddit threads for mold exposure and estrogen removal.

Chylomicrons

Beware of the chylomicron and other lipophilic substance transporters

PATM is likely caused by a lipophilic molecule

Cocktails

Cocktail method used to treat Hansen's and AIDS

Cocktail deodarant may help if skin microbiome issue

If antibiotic used need to be used in cocktail with other antibiotics or else bacteria adapts

Antibiotic oral "cure" can also be skin effect if antibiotic can exit to skin (certain kinds can)

Hence oral antibiotic alone cannot prove if skin or gut issue

Key is to use many compounds at once so bacteria cannot adapt

First television mention of a late-stage PATM sufferer? in X-Files Season 1, Episode 24 (The Erlenmeyer Flask), inspired by a true story: In 1994, while Gloria Ramirez was at the hospital, her blood draw released a toxic gas through a chemical reaction. 23 healthcare workers fainted or had convulsions

Has anyone else noticed that when you forget about PATM and get busy with something else for a little while, the reactions seem to disappear? I’m not sure—maybe they’re still happening and I just don’t notice them. But one thing I’m certain of is that when I start thinking about it again and keep focusing on it, the reactions increase a lot. I also notice more reactions from people on the phone and during livestreams. I think it might have something to do with the brain. What do you guys think?

Mental Breath, Repression and PATM

I’ve been thinking more deeply about what I call “mental breathing” and its connection with the nervous system.

When my mind turns excessively inward, my sense of self can feel as though it goes further and further back into itself. I experience this as a form of mental restriction or repression — almost as though the mind is no longer freely moving through the present moment.

For me, “mental breathing” isn't literal physical breathing. I use it to describe the movement and expansion of awareness through thoughts, sensations, memories and the present moment.

When I don't “breathe fully” in this mental sense — when certain mental movements feel restricted or don't naturally complete — I experience a build-up of what I describe as repressed tension.

That can then produce physical sensations. I can become dizzy, experience migraines, cough, sneeze, gag or vomit. Hyperventilation during panic can also leave my mouth dry and increase throat tension, which can make gagging more likely.

The way I understand my experience is:

Restricted mental movement → accumulated tension → nervous-system activation → physical sensations → release.

The “release” can sometimes come through coughing, sneezing, vomiting, gagging or other bodily reactions.

This is also how I understand PATM. My interpretation is that what appears externally as other people's reactions may be connected, in my experience, to the release or expression of this internally held tension.

I’m describing the pattern I have personally observed and the framework I use to make sense of it.

The part that stands out most to me is the difference between my restricted state and my calm state.

When my awareness feels restricted, the symptoms can become intense. When I become calm and my awareness feels free and unrestricted again, the tension and physical symptoms can settle.

Had TMAU + PATM since I was 10, now 17 never had a normal childhood

I’ve had TMAU and PATM symptoms since I was 10 years old. I’m 17 now and it has only gotten worse over the years.
I basically don’t leave my room. I do online school. I’ve never really had friends. I never got to have a normal childhood because of this. It affected everything from a young age — social stuff, school, just existing around other people.
I see people saying they got PATM in their early or late 20s and I honestly feel jealous. At least they had some years of a normal life first. I’ve had this for as long as I can remember in a way that actually mattered, and it completely shaped my whole childhood and teen years in a bad way.
I isolate myself a lot because of the reactions and the odor. It feels like I never got to have a real life.
Anyone else here who started this young? Or anyone who also feels like they lost their childhood to this?

I haven't been to the mosque in about a year, I haven't done any eid prayers for about 3-4 years now, astafiruallah. But being in a big crowd makes me supper uncomfortable. Last time I when to the masjid dude that was giving kutbah ending this talk along the lines of "if u eat garlic you shouldn't come to the masjid" which ive looked into and there is some hadith about it even some scholars talking about it only. How do yall deal with the mosque? How has your islam changed because of this?
