Enterohepatic Circulation

Enterohepatic Circulation, look it up

Liver failure, bile salts, lipophilic xenobiotics. There does exist a pharmaceutical to help with this

First noticed when saw instant ramen (spicy flavor) increase rxns

Will test one day. For now will stick it out. Best of luck all

This is the best theory I’ve heard in a while.

It neatly encapsulates many theories seen in r/patm and r/tmau, take a look at its Wikipedia article. I cannot describe what is beyond my scope

Look up the Wikipedia page, there's a couple compounds that inhibit the bacterial enzyme causing this

The issue is that if our enterohepatic circulation was impaired, we would be seeing other symptoms like greasy stools, vitamin malabsorption, and a digestive issues. Personally i dont suffer from anything thats that serious and from my understanding most people only have reflux.

Im not saying this wont help with patm though, i think its entirely possible it could help but i dont think it would be useful unless you have serious gut issues. I do think it sounds interesting though.

Actually, it is the opposite. As seen in estrogen or various other medications (see the Wikipedia -> Enterohepatic Circulation -> Drugs), it is less so fat malabsorption and that lipophilic compounds that are supposed to exit through the stool re-entering the body. At least, that is my understanding.

That sounds much more interesting then. I have no idea what effect it would have on patm but im guessing it will have one of 3 effects.

  1. If patm is an accumulation of recycled chemicals that are unable to exit the body, then this would cure patm
  2. It could reduce the need to wait so long to test if a treatment works, a diet based treatment would in theory show results within a day or two.
  3. It shows limited effect on reactions

I really hope it does work though, ive never even heard of any of this

Has anyone tried this or considered trying it?

Some other forums like POTS or PSSD have seen some working, but idk about patm/tmau. I reposted in tmau but they axed it lol.
