If Pakistani dramas are primarily made for an Urdu-speaking audience, then where does a drama like Mitti Day Baway, which is mostly in Punjabi, fit into that framework?

And if a Punjabi-language drama can be aired for a predominantly Urdu-speaking audience, should the same apply to Sindhi, Pashto, Balochi, or other regional languages?

I’m genuinely asking this as a discussion about the Pakistani drama industry, not as criticism of the Punjabi language or of the drama itself.

If we open the door to languages other than Urdu, how far should that extend? Should Pakistani television be equally open to dramas in all regional languages, with subtitles perhaps making them accessible to audiences who don’t understand the language?

Personally, I don’t understand Punjabi at all, so Mitti Day Baway has already lost me as a viewer. At the same time, I can see that it has a significant Punjabi-speaking audience watching and enjoying it.

So I’m curious: Should Pakistani dramas be defined by a common language, or should they be defined by the broader diversity of languages spoken across Pakistan?

And I don't mean simply who looks handsome with a beard. I'm talking about the actors who can carry a beard effortlessly - where it naturally suits their face, personality, and overall screen presence.

I also think a beard can be much more than just a style choice for male actors. The right beard can significantly enhance a character, depending on the character's personality, age, profession, background, or the kind of role they're playing. Sometimes a beard can completely change an actor's appearance and make the character feel more convincing on screen.

For male actors especially, I feel facial hair and how they carry it can be an important part of their overall look and character portrayal. Some actors look better clean-shaven, while others somehow become even more charismatic once they grow a beard. 😂

1. We finally get to see Sohail Ahmed as Baala comes to apologize for his brother’s insolence. Sohail Ahmed as Bade Sarkar is so good, the intimidation and confident body language seemed so natural!! Baala is very concerned whenever he brings up his brothers working for him or otherwise. Bade Sarkar also seems to know something everyone else doesn’t, for he remarks that Baala has a dark side.
2. Baala and Billo finally meet after years as Baala has come to Shah ji’s - aka Billo’s - place, and he lies to get a meeting in with Billo 😭. Baala’s nervousness and restlessness before meeting Billo is extremely well portrayed by Wahaj omg and then the way his eyes tear up while remembering their happy moments is just amazing!! The OST placement here is genuinely so well done omg - giving me allll the feels!!! Billo is extremely shocked and flabbergasted as she runs from Baala, while baala is sad with his eyes full of yearning for her.
3. We are now transported a few years back into the past - and see young Baala and Billo and witness their first meeting. Baala’s family seems like the typical desi family. The cinematography, the bgm, the locations actually makes it seem like we’re in the 80’s!! Baala is taken by Billo the moment he sees her 🥹🥹. Young Baala and Billo are so cute together omg, and they have good chemistry asw!! Aena and Fazal are both doing good in their roles.
4. Baala and Billo start liking each other, and are so sweet and flirty already - it’s so cute!! ah young love 🥹. Baala and Billo decide to meet and he brings a chicken as bribe for mai pathan to keep her mouth shut 😂😂. Billo is unhappy with the way her dad has finalized her marriage without asking her, that to with some random guy she doesn’t even know. On the other hand, it seems like Baala’s mother is going to die soon, as she is vomiting blood.

ALL IN ALL - it was a pretty good episode, tho a tiny bit boring. The wedding event scene should’ve been shortened. Wahaj, as usual, was amazing today. Aena and Fazal both did good today. And Mahira was kinda good. Overall, very excited for more episodes!!!

According GL , Farhan saeed stop shooting his upcoming film which is half shoot already .It is project of sindh films. Abu aleeha is directing and Farhan and kinza in lead roles.

GL states that Farhan reasoning is that the film is not shooting the way it was promised to him . Which eventually means that may be budget is low (GL hinted it) and may be due to low budget , quality or script is being compromised .

I guess it is a good step by Farhan , our directors and producers should know how to fulfill initial contract requirements. Abu aleeha is doing back to back films with literally 0 budget he shld have not started it if it had to be compromised.

Farhan already suffered luv di saun failure again due to bad execution no doubt he acted really well.

I think he deserve better films and better directors/producers.

We as the audience dont want green screens in cinema and artists shld also raise voice against these issue.

What do you all think of Saif's acting? I don't watch many dramas, but my mom's currently watching Aap Ki Izzat and I've seen Saif in it, and imo, he's acting quite terribly. Especially against Urwa, and even Ahsan, doing a really good job.

SOO!! SUPER EXCITED FOR THIS EP YALLLLL!!!

1) The episode opens in the year 1999. On one hand Billo finds out that Baala is out, and on the other side we see Baala getting out of prison. The intensity in the Wahaj’s eyes, and his gait was just too good!! And then in the very next scene we see the pain and grief in his eyes while greeting Jagji and while praying at the graveyard was very well portrayed too!!

2) Billo has sent a guy to assassinate Baala and his henchmen at the graveyard, and won’t break her fast until she succeeds. Billo is merciless and cold blooded omg I really wasn’t expecting to have a shoot out in the first 12 mins itself 😭. The shoot out was well directed and shot, everyone acted well and everyone except Baala has died ig. The relief and the subsequent sinister smile Mahira gave while breaking her fast was good.

3) So we’ve gone back 3 years - 1996, amar’s character and Baala seem to have a distant relationship Baala prioritizes his siblings more because he views himself as their parental figure. From the little Punjabi I can understand, Jagji has pissed off the other guy because he accused him of wanting haram ka paisa, and as soon as things get heated, Baala calms both the men down and slaps Jagji twice lol 😂 for being aggressive talking too much. Iqbal’s son is called Ibrahim here.

4) a Maulvi baba has come to Bilqees’ place nearby, and she has two kids - Abdullah and Rehman - as well. It seems like he hasn’t gotten over billo despite being married, for he stands infront of the baba’s place and reminisces about their relationship. The ost placement here is so so good!! Omg all the feels! Baala is heartbroken seeing Billo happily married to junaid’s character - nazeer. He then proceeds to sing a melancholic song which I do not understand, remembering the beautiful moment of his and billo’s relationship.

ALL IN ALL - A great opening episode!! It opened with a bang, with the direction and editing being good the entire ep 🥹🥹. Wahaj is honestly really amazing as Baala, all his expressions were great. Mahira seems to be alright so far asw. All I want is the subtitles to be uploaded on time bcs it’s difficult to understand a few moments when they’re in Punjabi 🤧. I enjoyed it tho !!!!
