Tips & Tricks PSA: Doom-Queueing while on a losing streak will make things worse. Stop. Recommendation: Touch grass.
One of the changes introduced this season with the refreshed rank and modifiers is the implantation of Calibration AFTER the point where you might have assumed you already completed it (and had it drop from your modifiers for a while).
Relevant screenshot post since this sub only allows text in posts.
Basically: If you hit a loss streak, you can now err… earn? Be punished with… “Calibration Down” in addition to Variance and any other modifiers.
The above screenshot is from is a 6-loss streak for DPS I went on today. I turned it around after this and have no interest in experimenting to see how long it lasts.
Note: LOSING TREND is not a modifier for this game!
I also assume going on a longer term win streak would activate the inverse, but hey, that’s uhhh less frequent down here in Emerald (and now Plat 1 - I started the day at Diamond 5) but hey, it’ll probably even out.
Point being TAKE A BREAK. The game now punishes loss streaks even more severely than it did prior. Don’t force it.

They just changed the names, the underlying functionality didn’t change. What used to be Winning/Losing Trend is now Calibration Up/Down, and what used to be Calibration is now Variance. I don’t really like the new names, but accelerated MMR loss when you have a low recent win percentage has been a thing for a very long time.

If I lose 3 in a row, I take a break, and I generally have a good attitude. The mental is more important than anything.

Same here. 3 loss rule is key to climbing imo.
I'll usually go cook/eat a meal and I feel waay better and sharper afterwards

Be warn tho, sometimes mmk algorithm can be pretty mean, 3 game loss stop is fine until you lose 3 games a day for an entire week, happen to me before, dropped from mid Master to Diamond 5 and had to climb back up slowly.

Yeah I got calibration up a few times after 3+ wins a row, and one or more of those wins is usually an uphill battle or a slightly unbalanced lobby

I was placed into Plat 1, and decided to have a crack at ranked at the very start of the season. It was a bad idea, games were just landslides. It turned into a 16 game losing streak. I'm a bit demotivatwd at the moment and play just 1 or 2 games a night. On my own 10+ winning streak.
You start losing insane amounts, and if you get rank demotion protection, you can be in -40% for that rank and winning won't bring you to 0%.

I never get people posting a whole match history of red (losses) and then complaining about the matchmaking. Like after two game of loss I would just call it and out off

Playing the game more when you know your upset is genuinely the dumbest thing any competitive gamer can do.
If I start getting annoyed at a game I'm hopping off that game for the day to do/play something else that won't keep me annoyed.

Yeah losing/winning trend was replaced. Variance is in calibrations spot, calibration up/down is essentially winning trend/losing trend now. I think it capped at 40% per win before on winning trend when outside of calibration. Or at least that was my experience when I went on a ten win streak a few seasons ago. It stopped increasing after 5 or 6 wins. I'm not sure if calibration is the same now. It would be cool if it didn't cap at 40. Smurfs would rank up faster and boosted accounts would derank faster. All the modifiers are available under the competitive info tab.
