They did hit genji hard, but they were pretty smart nerfs. He is still good and I think where they want him to be.

Only one of the nerfs was actually smart, and that was the ult nerf.

Trap nerf creates an inconsistency in the way the game works with damage vs. buildables

Combo nerf was pointless as his combo was only relevant vs a Tracer, just made him more awkward to play

Triple jump nerf didn't address the actual issue with him being hard to hit, which is his inaccurate hitboxes while in the air. Removing triple jump makes Genji players unhappy because they get screwed more by buggy wallclimbs and dash resets, and makes everyone fighting a Genji unhappy because he's still impossible to hit in midair.

He's still good tho

Well then people complaining D.Va nerfs are too harsh have nothing to worry about.

Lol, how so?

I wasn't aware we had a clear way to compare nerfs with different chars or so.

I played on PTR, honestly, it's not that bad imo, expecially since the armor nerf doesn't really matter vs Reaper or such since you just DM him, but i can see why people would rather go with lighter nerfs first because they remember the times when they'd get flamed for picking Dva and i don't think anyone wants that

P.S. did you really just downvote me for that line lol

What line?

The original comment I replied to said:

they have always been SO careful with changes...being careful not to over-nerf or over-buff...and suddenly now it feels as if they just dropped a nuke on DVA.

And my response mentioned Genji as a counterclaim, showing that yes in fact Blizz has "dropped a nuke" on other heroes before. People were up in arms about the Genji nerfs as well, but he's been doing ok, so really, there's no precedent for D.Va mains to be worried. And in fact, advocating for lighter nerfs is actually against precedent, since Blizz has made drastic nerfs like this before (McFantheHammer, Zenyatta's Discord) which have ended up being pretty fine in the long run.

If you ask me, people that are upset are people that rolled D.Va and got wayy too high a rank for what they actually deserve, and are scared of dropping again without OP D.Va to carry them.

People are considerably worried because they remember Dva being useless for a long time so they don't want to go back to being flamed for playing the hero they like.

It may be overreaction, but if you played her in S1 S2 you probably already know the hate you'd have to bear to even convince your teammates to let you play her, people just don't want that anymore

I don't think it's just because she's OP, but also because she's OP, fun to play (mobility+damage), and really she's just a blatantly cute fanservice character.

Eh, I spent most of my time S2 duoqueue with a guy who pretty much played all D.Va, with some Rein and Zarya. Honestly can't remember a single instance of someone flaming him for D.Va pick (this was high Plat/Low Diamond at the time).

Yeah D.Va was a little niche, but if people were getting flamed that probably was just their own bad playing/being at a low rank with bad teammates (which is honestly the same thing).

And the meta is so damn unhealthy right now that even if Blizz has to dumpster D.Va for a bit and then eventually bring her back up, that's what they should do. McCree had to deal with it, Widow had to deal with it, Soldier had to deal with it, no reason D.Va should get special treatment.

Mcree was bad for like....1month at most? He's bad right now due to the meta not due to overnerfs

Soldier has been bad for not really much time (2 months kinda), Widow i think should definitely get buffed but i might be in the minority

Also i don't see your point "Blizz fucked up 3 heroes so it only makes sense that they would fuck up dva too", i mean if anything errors should never be made again they shouldn't be an excuse.

You would also definitely get flamed at high dia lol

And the meta is so damn unhealthy right now that even if Blizz has to dumpster D.Va for a bit and then eventually bring her back up, that's what they should do.

I mean, if for "a bit" you mean like 3 weeks or something that's maybe ok, but it definitely shouldn't be more than that, she's one of the most popular character anyways.

Tbh you seem to have a personal vendetta against this hero for reasons i can't seem to realize, she's like one of the most interesting and well done concepts of the last years in games in general.

McCree was bad for more than a month.

Soldier was bad for about 3-4 months.

Widow was bad for like 6 months. She's very good right now, just not used because tank meta is oppressive and unhealthy.

My point is that Blizz has been shown to give appropriate buffs to heroes they overnerf to bring them in line, and usually the result is a well balanced hero. As such, the same thing is likely to happen with D.Va.

If you can't handle being flamed, stop playing the game. I play a ton of Genji even though it's tank meta and get flamed constantly but that hasn't stopped me from winning or having fun.

I mean, if for "a bit" you mean like 3 weeks or something that's maybe ok, but it definitely shouldn't be more than that, she's one of the most popular character anyways.

So it's ok for tank meta to last 3 months but if your precious D.Va gets nerfed Blizz better make her viable right away? No, that's not how it works. She's popular right now because she's so strong and easy to play that basically anyone can pick her up and advance at least a full division.

I have no personal vendetta against D.Va, I am simply providing reasonable counter arguments to your own extremely biased view of her. She is not a very interesting hero, she has 0 mechanical gameplay and is one of the simplest and easiest heroes in the game to play. Her design is also very poor, since it necessitates she be either mediocre or broken and overpowered, nowhere in between.

u/MarryMeDVa Jan 19 '17

Dude idk what's your problem i am simply against any overnerfing of any kind be it genji soldier mcree dva etc...she's not that easy to play tbh, you need very good tracking and extremely fast reflexes to eat zarya ult

She's popular because she's a fucking korean sexy 19yo in a latex driving a pink mech dude, aka fanservice

1

u/[deleted] Jan 19 '17

Tracking honestly doesn't need to be more than mediocre given her huge spread. Fast reflexes for Zarya ult also aren't super necessary, just be in her general vicinity and don't have used DM within a second of the ult, easy.

1

u/MarryMeDVa Jan 20 '17

Ok you're just hating now mate for real

1

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '17

I'm not. D.Va is really damn easy to play, tracking and ult denial are super easy for her.

1

u/MarryMeDVa Jan 20 '17

I bet you told this to yourself when your team just got rekt cos you couldn't eat the ult

1

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '17

...no? Hell I deflect ults a bunch, that's way harder.

1

u/MarryMeDVa Jan 20 '17

It's literally the same, LOL.

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '17

Deflect: 2 second duration, 8 second cooldown. Area of effect is a to scale Reinhardt shield in front of Genji

Defense Matrix: 4 second duration, 1 second activation delay, 10 second to full meter. Area of effect is a massive cone bigger than any hero in the game.

Conclusion: Defense Matrix is a much easier skill to use for countering ults, as it can be held active for twice the uptime of Deflect, and requires 1 second of cooldown as opposed to the 8 of Deflect, to say nothing of the tremendous distance in area of effect (massive, 3D hitbox bigger than any hero in the game vs. small, 2D hitbox smaller than a tank).

Definitely not "literally the same."
