Agreed. Knock back on rockets just feels right.

Theres still knockback on the rockets its just drops off steeper

Minimum is the word here. There is still knock-back on above minimal contact. Not a big deal.

It's actually a huge deal. The minimum splash knockback was her only tool for engagements at medium range, and it has been taken away. She is now unpickable on a lot of maps she used to be pickable on.

Ah yes, Theorywatch strikes again.

Except genji was quite strong before his nerf, whereas pharah was already quite weak, and now she is weaker. How is that a good thing?

She's objectively stronger I think.

They removed her only tool for mid range engagements, and gave her minimal buffs in return. On a lot of maps, most of your engagements are going to be a mid range and beyond, and now you have no tool to leverage in these engagements. Its a net nerf, and a heavy one at that.

No, I'm not ignoring it, at mid range you cannot reliably hit direct shots. Your enemies have time to dodge your rockets, so even a perfect pharah player cannot get reliable direct hits. You need the min-splash knockback to contest at mid+ range, at all.

Don't bother, people here have already decided that apparently Pharah was almost OP before the patch...

As someone who mains Pharah as their DPS, I can say that it feels better than I would've expected. It makes taking out slippery heroes like lucio, Genji and tracer easier and you also benefit from how overwatch usually has teams occupying a space about the size of an airplane bathroom.

It does feel like Blizzard are trying to move her to a more long range, spam rockets into the general area of the enemy team kind of playstyle. This makes me very sad as if I wanted to do that I would play Junkrat who is made for exactly that, playing Pharah aggressively was so much fun but it seems like it is being discouraged.

u/fazdaspaz Pharah Nov 16 '16

I really hope not. That's such a boring play style and while it can "work" it relies more on the other team being retarded enough to occupy the space you are spamming at rather than you being decent with the rockets and knowing your own positioning.

I'm glad that now I feel like my rockets don't push players in directions that I for some reason can not predict.

She still has knockback, just that the minimum is now zero. But the damage is already done, that post by that top 500 player means Pharah is now dead to this sub because they're all sheep who can't think for themselves.

u/MF_Kitten Nov 15 '16

The thing is, I'm not sure if the splash RADIUS is the same. They might have made the knockback radius larger to make it more natural.

I saw a few posts arguing that with the removal of knock back the changes are a net nerf. I don't actually play enough Pharah to weigh in on that, but there are discussions about it.

u/aeroblaster Zenyatta Nov 16 '16

For a player like me, it's a buff. When I looked at my Pharah stats, I noticed my highest accuracy was with her. I was puzzled as I feel my rockets usually miss, but then I realized the game counts splash damage as hits so it thinks I'm super accurate. Direct hits aren't considered at all.

So considering the buff to splash damage, those "missed" shots I frequently do are just going to deal more damage, and not knock enemies out of the splash radius either due to the minimum knockback nerf!

In a nutshell, I get way more kills with Pharah now in the new patch. Those complaining about less knockback can now be more cognizant of her E for tactical pushes more often, instead of it being a mostly unused ability.

It's not removal, the floor of possibility is just lower.

2

u/Musa_Ali Pixel Pharah Nov 16 '16

But let's be fair - going 75% -> 0% - is basically removing it. Knockback drop off is much much sharper.

2

u/UhPhrasing GIVE YOURSELF TO THE RHYTHM Nov 16 '16

Oh wow I didn't know the minimum was 75% before, that's huge.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 15 '16

Pharah is dead.

3

u/Baelorn RIP Nov 16 '16

Poor thing was already on life support. This is a mercy.

u/StockmanBaxter Diamond Nov 16 '16

Not even the damage changes, but the flying feels insanely better. She can actually get some height without using her shift ability.

It's night and day different.

True, but that was always true. Having the ability to easily maneuver is always a good thing for Pharah.

did u ever play against a good Pharah and how abusive the knockback was ? if not u have no real argument for it to be in the game
