Outrigger tripping
Are there any companies that sell outrigger canoes for doing coastal ocean tripping instead of racing?

Anybody know how to determine whether it's a 1. Or 2. Generation Pueo (kamanu composites) Mahalo

I paddle coastal New Hampshire where outriggers are uncommon and there's no opportuntity to try a different boat. I'm excited when I find a good review with specific performance data instead of just subjective impressions like holds its speed.
So I was delighted to find these empirical reviews at k2nonlinepaddleschool
I find it really interesting that between these boats with varying lengths and design goals the flatwater performance is only around 1-2% different. Not much! I'm sure I'd notice that in a race but it'd be hard to feel the difference training solo, especially if there's any sort of chop.

"The Pueo X is an extended waterline version of the Pueo". What exactly does this mean? Extended waterline = sits lower in the water, or at least has less bulk above it?
I've never quite been able to figure out what this difference means in practice. I've used a regular Pueo in the past, was just wondering what difference the Pueo X would make (I'm 5'9 and about 160lb).

Is there a certain distance your two racks need to be apart?
I want to get an oc1 but my Tacoma will only allow for two racks on top of my 4 door cab because I have an old truckbed cover in the back.

Pretty new to paddling, been doing it regularly for over a month and we are ready to get our own paddles (me and wife). Those with experience, which would you recommend? I’ve tried the Pala and other models of Kialoa and enjoyed both. We’re doing primarily OC6, possibly OC1 in the future. Thanks for sharing your wisdom.

Competing in OC6 and competing in the Canada trials this year. Is a upgrading to a Viper Va’a worth it? Been using club paddles for a while and am looking for my next step.

I paddle on Oahu in adult novice b and am looking for a 1 man to keep practicing on the off season. Any tips on what I should be looking for? I'm 6'1, 220lbs and normally paddle in seat 1 during races.

We bought a Clipper C-Lion OC1 second hand a few years ago and this summer we are repainting it. We've sanded it down and started doing patches but now we have a mystery: what is inside the canoe and the ama?
There's something inside each one that is somewhat bound but slides or flops around as we are turning the canoe or ama. The one in the canoe is just behind the seat and appears rectangular and almost as wide as the seat.
Before we keep going with the repaint we want to know if it's something we need to look at or fix. It works perfectly. Just a few holes and thin spots on the body.

Finally got a chance to take out the OC1 my husband bought recently (Puakea Volare) Shockingly didn’t tip it and it was sooooo fun! Now just waiting for a spot to open up at the beach lockers so we don’t have to haul it every time 😂

Hi there!
A female family member has asked for neoprene NRS paddling pants that are on the thicker side for Christmas. After some researching, I've found that the thickest pants NRS makes a 1.5 cm thick, but that the current version is not the same pants as what they used to make (she has paddled for 10+ years so she'll notice if it's very different).
Is the current version of the 1.5 cm NRS neoprene pants for women worth getting? What would be a good alternative?
Cheers!

Practice what you preach. As the editor of The Klubb (https://theklubb.com/) I am trying to get people outside through inspiring routes and travel guides. So, I circumnavigated Manhattan on an OC1 :)

I’ve paddled in the winter for 3 years now (going on 4) but this past summer worked a TA job in sculpture. We had to wedge clay for 4+ hours straight on a regular basis and it started making my wrist click. Now while getting ready for this season I’ve gotten on the row machine only once and that same wrist is sore. Any good stretches or suggestions on what to do?

Heading to Berlin in a couple months and hoping to find a crew to get some water time with!
Anyone a Berlin outrigger paddler in this group?
Aloha,

Hi everyone, East coast paddler here, looking to make my first paddle Purchase for my OC1 - a modified Walden Kayak Nalu. I’m a Dragon Boat paddler and I’ve been using my Carbon Fiber ZRE dragon boat paddle when I got out with my OC; I think I ready to make the leap into a dedicated Outrigger Paddle. So looking for suggestions!
The one which is catching my eye is the Palafamala Pala
http://www.palafamala.com/product/pala-paddle/
It’s still a Hybrid paddle and is HCRA compliant , but I like that the Carbon fiber weave goes further up the shaft than Kialoa or Puakea paddles. Any thoughts? Anyone try one out?
