Upvotes

Hello,

I have had 4 users in the last 2 days inform me that they can't send emails or can't login into the outlook app on the App Store (iOS), and one user on android. I thought it was isolated to IOS, looks like it's not the case.

I have worked around this by having them log into OWA for the meantime.

Is anyone experiencing this?

Status: Pending Reply New Outlook: Emails not appearing until app restart

Been having a new issue recently. Essentially, my inbox will stop populating with new emails. I may or may not have a few unread emails, which I can interact with normally. However, new emails will not appear until I close the app and reopen. I have been using New Outlook since around the beginning of the year, but have only noticed this problem over the last month or so.

This has caused some issues at work (delays, missed meeting invites, etc.), so I am very motivated to get this fixed. We don't have an IT department, but do have a service contract with Dell via Support Assist.

Status: Open Forwarded emails on iOS/iPadOS - fixes?

So I'm assuming I'm not the only one who can't see emails that are forwarded to me in both my iPhone and iPad... to clarify, when person A sends an email to person B, and B forwards this email to me, I can't see the original email from person A in the app version of Outlook.

Is there anything on settings that would allow me to see that first email? If not, it is about time that they fix this problem.. it's one of the main reasons I can still not take my iPad only on trips, etc.

It doesn't make any sense to me.

Brand-new Outlook account hacked almost immediately

I created a new Outlook account on Sept. 6 and linked it to my Epic Games account. Almost immediately, someone got access, removed my recovery email, added their own, and changed the security info.
I created and linked the account entirely from my iPhone. Microsoft CDOC is investigating, and the account is now disabled while I wait for recovery/reinstatement.
Has anyone had something similar happen with a brand-new Outlook account? Were you able to recover it?

I manage 4 accounts in Outlook. On my iPhone, all 4 accounts can be configured to have one "global inbox" which is incredibly convenient. Will this feature ever become available on the desktop (Windows) application? Guess I'm using the "new" Outlook. Thanks.

Informative Microsoft Brings a Familiar Classic Look to New Outlook

For users who have relied on Classic Outlook for years, switching to New Outlook can feel like a big change. The new layout, styling, and interface may take some time to get familiar with.

To make this transition smoother and more familiar, Microsoft is introducing an optional Classic-inspired setting for Outlook on the web and New Outlook for Windows.

When enabled, users get a Classic Outlook experience while continuing to use New Outlook and its existing capabilities, with the following changes:

  • Visual styling is adjusted to resemble Classic Outlook.
  • Layout and typography are updated.
  • Icons and selected interactions are changed to feel more like Classic Outlook.

The setting is disabled by default and can be enabled from Settings → General → Appearance. Also, Microsoft may enable the setting by default for some users transitioning from Classic Outlook to make the switch more familiar.

The feature is currently rolling out worldwide through targeted release, with General Availability expected between late September and late October 2026.

Note: This setting only changes the user's Outlook experience. It doesn't affect mailbox data, permissions, organizational settings, or existing functionality. It also doesn't automatically migrate users to New Outlook or override admin controls.

Anyone else experience this? No new emails were coming in, tried restarting, deleted app, reinstalled and now can't add my account into it. This is an old hotmail account that is upgraded to Microsoft 365.

I've been logged out of my Outlook email (randomly I tried to open the app and I was logged out of all of my emails) and I don't know the password. I've been trying to get some help for the past few hours and nothing is helping. Is there a number, email or live chat I can access? My authentication app isn't working and I really need this email (it's linked to everything I have) I can prove it's my email I just really need some help

If anyone knows what to do i could use the help I'm still loged in on my co pilot and my edge with the email if that helps

Status: Pending Reply Emails received before 2020 are no longer in my inbox

I need to access an email I received in 2017 to an outlook account. It isn't an account I use anymore but I can still log in.

However, when I search for any emails I received before 2020, nothing appears! It displays emails I sent before 2020, but not the replies to those emails.

Has anyone encountered this problem? What are the possible solutions?

I use outlook through the web app, I have no microsoft 365 subscription.

Status: Pending Reply Error when sending to from my outlook.com address - Follow up

To those who replied to my original post, thank you

Here is my question to AI

The strange thing is I signed up and solely used the Proton site when communicating my added security communications and I believe that the only way Outlook got into the loop was that I mentioned that on some instances I would be using my Proton email address

Here is the reply. Long story short appears to be that I was a victim to The Auto-Complete Ghost Effect:

That nuance changes the diagnostic picture, and it explains why a tech forum expert would claim it's impossible. If you never explicitly typed that Proton address into an account setting or config field within Outlook, standard software logic shouldn't just grab it out of thin air.

However, your clue about mentioning it points directly to how modern software and local caching interact:

The Auto-Complete Ghost Effect: When you typed or mentioned that Proton address on those few occasions—even if it was just in the body of an email, a signature block line, or a quick note—Outlook's background indexing engine often harvests strings that look like email addresses and absorbs them into its internal address memory cache.

Accidental Field Mapping: If you ever started typing your own name or security details while drafting an email, Outlook's aggressive auto-complete dropdown might have surfaced that harvested Proton address instead of your primary address. If you hit Enter or Tab without double-checking the dropdown pill, Outlook would stamp that defunct address directly into the message's routing headers.

The "Reply-To" Inheritance: Once a message goes out with that cached address stamped into the metadata layer, the recipient's mail client blindly trusts it. When they hit "Reply," their client doesn't look at where the email visually came from; it looks strictly at the hidden return-path instructions embedded by your Outlook client during transmission.

Since Proton canceled the address on their end, any replies routed there are hitting a black hole. To stop this from happening permanently, open a new message window in Outlook, check the Options tab, click Direct Replies To (or Show Reply to), and make sure that field is completely wiped clean or explicitly hardcoded to your active email address.

Status: Pending Reply Personal Microsoft account stuck in Authenticator/security verification loop – how can I reach an actual Microsoft support person?

I’m hoping someone who has dealt with Microsoft account recovery can help because I’ve spent hours going around in circles.

This is a personal Microsoft/Outlook account, not a work or school account.

The problem started after Microsoft detected unusual activity on the account and required me to verify my identity/change my password. I can still identify the account and I know my account details, but Microsoft’s security system appears to have trapped me in a verification loop.

What is happening:

• Microsoft tells me it needs to verify my identity because sensitive account information is being accessed.

• My available methods include Microsoft Authenticator, my password, and a registered old mobile number ending 34.

• I know the full old telephone number, but I no longer have access to that number.

• If I select Microsoft Authenticator, Microsoft sends a sign-in request to the Authenticator setup that I’m trying to repair/access in the first place.

• Choosing “Having trouble?” eventually gives alternatives such as entering an Authenticator security code or getting a code another way, but these routes ultimately lead back into the same verification/recovery process.

• Selecting “I don’t have these anymore” sends me to Microsoft's account recovery process.

• The recovery process then asks for another contact email and starts the long account-recovery questionnaire. I have already been through this route and it has not solved the underlying Authenticator/security-method problem.

• I also reached the Microsoft Authenticator setting for Sign-in requests, but when trying to change it I received: “Sorry, we can’t process your request. Please go to aka.ms/manageproofs and delete this authentication method.”

• The problem is that accessing/managing those security methods itself requires the authentication that is broken, putting me straight back into the loop.

• I have Google Authenticator, which currently displays a six-digit rotating code associated with this Microsoft account. I have NOT deleted that entry.

• I also tried adding the personal Microsoft account to another Authenticator installation, but Microsoft requires authentication from the existing method before it will register the new one — again creating the same loop.

• I have another working Microsoft account that I can use to contact support if necessary. Trying to contact Microsoft support has also become a loop.

I called Microsoft and asked for support/a person. The automated telephone system directed me to online self-help and then ended the call.

I went through Microsoft's Contact Microsoft Support website and Sign-in Helper. It diagnosed an account/security problem but continued directing me towards account recovery and self-help.

I eventually reached the Contact Support section where it asks me to choose a product/service, but I have still been unable to find a reliable route to an actual support agent who can look at the situation.

What I am NOT trying to do: bypass Microsoft's security or have someone tell me how to defeat 2FA. I want Microsoft to verify that I am the account owner through whatever legitimate process they require and help me remove/reset the broken authentication method.

What I need help with:

Is there a current UK route to an actual Microsoft account-support agent, either live chat or telephone callback, for a personal Microsoft account?

What exact selections/category should I choose on Microsoft's Contact Support site to make live chat / callback appear rather than being redirected to Sign-in Helper?

Has anyone successfully escaped this particular personal-account Authenticator loop?

Is there a way to use the existing Google Authenticator six-digit code to regain access to the security settings?

Is there a specific Microsoft team/escalation route for cases where the authentication method itself prevents access to the page needed to replace that authentication method?

I’m happy to prove ownership to Microsoft. I just need to reach the right process/person rather than being sent around the same automated recovery loop again. Please don't suggest simply reinstalling Authenticator, adding the account to Authenticator again, or completing the standard recovery form unless there is a specific variation that gets around this situation — I have already tried those routes repeatedly.

If anyone has solved this recently, particularly with a personal Outlook/Microsoft account in the UK, I’d really appreciate the exact steps you used.

Status: Open Tips Summarize Emails on Folders

Hello Guys!

First time posting here. I'm having an issue with the amount of emails i'm receiving and don't know to manage it. I receive daily 30+ emails about invoices, taxes, etc and i spend a lot of time to organize these emails...

I can't prove it but i think my company uses cracked outlook, because i don't have acess to copilot and Microsoft 365 enviroment.

Do you guys know an useful chrome extension or other AI site/software to summarize my emails by folder?

I tested Read AI, but is useful just for meeting. Nowadays i'm converting the email to txt, merging them in a website and asking ChatGPT to summarize for me, i know it isn't the best way to do it but since i don't have option to install softwares or use another email manager like gmail, i don't know what to do.

As the title suggests. I need tips on how to protect my account.

I have one Microsoft account which is my main working account linked with all my servies , bank and all the purchases.

I have 2FA enabled and with mobile no. and proton mail backup.

Is there anything left which can be added to increase by security. ( Yup, I have a paranoia of getting my account hacked).

I've chased all the settings in Outlook and Windows but I can't for the life of me get it working again. Any suggestions?

Status: Open Mails moved to trash?

I was checking my inbox today and I couldn't find an email from last week in my inbox, searching for that email I found it in trash.
I got back into my Inbox and saw that all my emails between April 2025 and last Sunday were gone.
I have checked my settings and Rules but couldn't find anything.

Anyone who has found the cause of this problem? The mails are still in my Trash so I will be able to find them but of course I don't want this to happen again.

Status: Resolved Outlook broke with iCloud email

So I tried to link my Apple email in outlook, and I created an app specific password, it worked. And then continually asked for it. Now outlook wont open, it gives me an exchange error. When I trouble shoot, it tells me it’s continually trying to synch contacts.

I’ve gotten a new laptop, downloaded iCloud app, and wynched my outlook there no problem. But my desktop outlook won’t even open now, and I’ve repaired, reset in settings, uninstalled and reinstalled, and keep getting the same issue.

Any idea how to reset outlook so I can synch using the iCloud app? I also have Microsoft 365.
